Fun Guy
Certainly much more of a danger on my Avalanche (I think the AV and the Cadillac EXT have the heaviest tailgates out of any truck in the GM line), but all Silverados are included as well. I CORNER
So having a tailgate fall off when open is worthy of a recall, but having shorting kapton-insulated wires (can you say TWA flight 800) in the gas tank of my 1996 Impala SS was not worthy of a recall. Go figure.
Fun Guy
Wheres the danger Among the many iunjuries was a man standing on his tailgate when it busted, he fell and hit the edge of the bed, bruising a number of ribs.

ctrow
Ask my service rep today and he didn't even know about it. Plus MyGMLink.com didn't mention anything about it. I think we just have to wait for it to come out.
deezel
Ok, that's what I thought. No problem, I can wait. Mine aren't rusting as of yet...
rico750sxi
I wonder why 1999 aren't included, my '99 had the cables. In fact the guy that bought it off of me replaced them as a precaution. It'd be funny if he's going to get them replaced again for free.

CraigW
The ones on my 2001 both broke it scared the crap out of me when they let loose. They wouldn't pay for new ones so I had to fork out $18.00 for new one. Now I find this out. Am I gonna raise alittle hell about that.
SSmoothSilSS
Craig if you still have the paperwork that you purchased new ones I think they have to reimburse you.
