smallblock500
I was on I20 here in Tx we were on our way to a bar and a OBS 1500 came up and a stood on it and he left me like nothing. The truck looked and sounded stock except for what looked like a 2/4 drop or so he was ext cab long bed and as far as I know the biggest motor that came in those trucks was the 350 vortec right? It looked like about a 96-98 body style. My truck is stock except for a K&N drop in and a flowmaster muffler but I still think I should have been able to beat him. Its annoying getting beat by everything I come up against in my SS except for a FEW stock 4 bangers. Im thinking about just taking the SS badges off until the truck until it can be a REAL SS. smallblock500
about 1-2 miles north (i think) of Cooper St. I don't know the area very well we just moved here from Fl. I have seen quite a few SSS's or SSS clones around most of them black though.
f1ss
I would start off by changing your muffler, those flowmasters only hurt performance. If you do not care to be fast/or dont race then just stay with your setup.
Eddie
Are you sure to have an SSS? I only have an intake and tune on my truck and I pull on almost everything I come against. I beat the mustang GT's, 99% of all the ricer burners, 5 series BMW's, and any other pickup besides a Lighting or SRT-10.

smallblock500
I'm not sure like I said I don't know the area very well but not far from mansfield. Yes I'm sure its a real SS the vin number comes up as an SS as well as the 20" wheels, clading, SS seats and badging. It has the 2-3/4" drue duel exhaust and had the DI/DO muffler with the SS exhaust tip on it so I'm pretty sure its a real SS if not its a dam good copy. Prob my best win was against my G/F's bonneville SSEi with the supercharged V6 we went from a dig and i pulled about 3 cars on her but by 90 mph she was back to my bumper with at least a 20-25mph pull on me when we let off. The only reason I beat her was because she was spinning her tires until about 30 mph. Now with her nitto 555R's, built trans, cam, ported heads, ported blower, LS1 throttle body and MAF I stand no chance even from a dig and with my AWD. She made 275 WHP and 280 WTQ on a mustang dyno (they read low) whitch prob equates to about 300-350 at the crank so its not far behind the SSS with alot less weight. Eddie
Are you in third gear with the Traction control off? The first time I went to the track I didn't take the traction control off. I hit the gas and the truck didn't go anywhere. The bonnie's are heavy. Even with the supercharged engine their not that fast. I've beat the Monte Carlo SS. It's pretty much the same set up as the bonneville only the body is lighter.
smallblock500
my truck is AWD so i cant turn my traction control off its always there. what year was the montie carlo SS that you raced? the only years that came supercharged was the 04 and 05 the blower was a option in 04 and standard in 05 then in 06 the montie SS got the 5.3L v8. The only time her bonnie has been to the track with the new motor was on street tires and it ran a 9.1 at 87mph with a 2.28 60' by looking at the mph you can tell the power is there she just cant get it down with the 225/60r16 street tires I'm sure the 3.69 gears (stock is 2.93) and 3250 stall don't help with traction either. catdaddy300
those 98 chevys with a 350 are faster than you think i know my buddy had a 98 and it was unusaly fast, hell he gave me a run for the money one day
Eddie
An Intimidator SS. Maybe not all your cylinders are firing? Plugs and wires good? You do have an 03. Do you have the engine driven fan still? That's supoosed to eat like 20% of your power up. I would ditch the cultch fan for electric ones and get a good tune. You should be alright then. And if that doesn't work try painting it black. That's a major power adder. Edited June 1, 2010 by SS truck (see edit history)
