ToomSS789 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Share Posted June 10, 2010 Hey guys, So next weekend i will dropping off my stock SS rims to be sandblasted and powdercoated black. There is 4 or 5 shops in the area that do powdercoating, but the one i'm taking them to came highly recommended from a friend of mine that own's a body shop. He is charging me $400 for the rims, and is actually coming in to do them on a weekend for me because i work monday through friday. I didnt do much asking around for pricing because this seemed very reasonable to me, and the guy seems like a good guy. I had a set of 22" Boss 330's powdered all black instead of having the aluminum lip. The quote he gave me was $75 per wheel if they were only painted before (rim had black face) and $100 per wheel if they were powdered. Turned out it was powder, but he only charged me $90 per wheel, no tax. Ended up being $360 total. Not bad, considering one shop quoted me at $150 per wheel!!! Like i said i mainly didnt call anywhere else because this guy came highly recommended and not knowing the going rate, it seemed great he'd do it on a weekend. $400 seemed a little high to me too which is why i wanted to ask. RICE EATER Posted July 8, 2010 Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 i got 4 rims done for $100..striped and coated....but he just did the face of them..which was fine for me for for the project..... every place i called around detroit was 350 to 400 and about a week wait...sooo id say its an average price...some times u get what u pay for too..cheaper isnt always better..
