speedy
Is it just me,or do they seem very bias on this video.. The guy cant even drive. It looks like he's granny shifting and short shifting when he is in the drag race. http://www.sleepy-fish.com/sleepy/Top_Gear...Corvette_lo.wmv
m396 #00-011
I think it's more penis envy that anything. Must be like the US though, Liberal driven media I'm guessing these guys arn't behind Blair either. I think they need to learn how to drive the car properly first, before they test it. Their "hot shoe" doesn't look very smooth or fluid on the track.
ctrow
They make some good points about the interior and plastic fascias. I'd still drive it though. Anyday.
2drTahoe
Those guys are some real tools Like a porshe doesn't have a rough ride or plastic interior It was good to see the C6 in motion. Next time I'll watch it with the sound off. I want to see a video of one of the C5R drivers behind the wheel of a C6. I saw one of those guys take out a C5 Z06, he could really drive that thing. Do the C5Rs have the transverse leaf springs? They're winning races running against those "wonderful" european cars

Coilovers more than likely. As for the facias, it's called mandated 5mph bumpers. Adding more mass would add more weight. As for the interior, well the extra $30k of the Porsche had to go somewhere. It's just Liberal TV in the UK. US bashing. I'm sure GM will sell plenty of Corvettes in the UK. After all, part of the mistique behind foreign cars in the US is exactly that, they're foreign. styleandspeed
If I shifted that slow, and was that stupid I would have to shoot myself. How did that guy get the job? "oh no, the clutch is too stiff. It hurts my foot. I don't know why they had to put a *somewhat stiff* clutch in a car with actual power. WAAAA WAAAA WAAAA!!!!" TBSS
That video was pretty funny. I actually had respect for those guys until I saw this. They're clearly biased. They bitched and moaned about the technology employed (e.g. leaf springs), but didn't mention if the technology was effective or not (it is, extremely). Whatever, that was so over the top that for a minute I thought perhaps they were joking. When I saw they weren't, I just thought, "Pathetic." In Top Gear i never saw one car get good reviews, they test lambo's,ferrari's, porsches, amg,rolls-roys and nothing is good, that's how the programma is made. Dylan06SS
Did the British forget who bailed their asses out in every war the modern world has ever seen? "Oh... tally ho! Proper good..... lets go drive our Jaguar.... OOOPS! The Americans bought that!" DAMN I HATE THOSE CROOKED TEETHED PANSIES!!! Wouldn't know a real sports car if it ran over the queen! I've seen lots of cars get good reviews there, from the Skyline to the Bentley to other European cars and rice burners. This is the worst review I've ever seen them give. What makes it so bad is the lack of reasoning behind their lopsided criticisms - there isn't any. Pathetic.
vette dude
Calm down guys, they did have good things to say about it, they said it was fun to drive, and that it actually did fairly well in all of the departments... They are right about the cheasy ass plastic, but it is not a 75k$+ porsche... Yes they are biased, yes they do dog on the leaf spring something i thought was stupid on there part but ohh well, motortrend does the same crap... Vettes are awesome cars but not perfect... ouredss
Well I suppose this is silly thing to do, yep I come from the land of the Union Jack. One thing you should all realise and that the guy knocking the plastic body work is Jeremy Clarkson he takes the pi$$ on most cars he drives unless it's red and has a prancing horse on the front. I thought that for a top gear assesment of a american car it came out not too bad at all, I mean there is serious competition in the form of the TVR (big engine light weight racing style suspension. ) One thing I think that all europeans are very suprised about is the "old style" technology that is still in use in everyday american cars, We are used to fully independant suspension - a little harder than the suspension over here as our roads don't seem to be in quite as bad a condition in west europe. Double or at least single overhead cams If we have automatics then some form of sport shifting or tiptronic - ie shifting manually Also we have to have cars that corner like heck as most of the roads are very bendy and the only way to get passed anyone is floor the go pedal dive deep into the corner brake as late as possible. Don't forget that porsches, audis, subaru WRX sti, evos are the standards that people go by as they are a lot more common and affordable. Heck I had a A8 audi with all the toyswhen i was in switzerland, certainly could not get one here they are way too expensive. Also most of the cars had sat nav six stack cd's etc etc. can't get used to all the stuff about power windows, central locking over here - if a car aint got it over there the car aint worth having. Just think .. apart from a few specialist manufacturers there is no British car industry. Just don't let it happen to yours(ours). Also That type of car is OK for over there, yours(ours) are OK for over here Ther is one thing it is not envy of the States that makes people say this, because it aint perfect here or there, it's just different. Don't knock your best friend in europe too much as it could go the other way and to sayyou do not need a friend over there is very short sighted PS Most of your drivers over here suck at least in Seattle. They spend too much time drivng fast while on the phone with no hands free and not having any idea whats happening on the outside of the vehicle. Also no lane discipline how I am supposed to get this SS rolling when they are in my way !.

Looks like prejudice gets everywhere including here .. shame I enjoyed the site until then. bye Yes, overhere (europe) we know how to handle critic, in the US people react different, i saw that also when a car didn't aprove like the overdone SS or the nissan titan. So don't stay away, let us show how other people think. For example: What are these guys at top gear talking about leafsprings? I thought the Vette has only 1 spring, they better do their howework correct.

Now, for constant track use, coilovers are nice because of adjustability and no crosstalk. But, by their driving methods, they can't get the most out of the current set-up, let alone a modified one. As for the "gotta have dual overhead cams" crap. Typical of people that don't know any better.
