poopnewton Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I've read a lot people talking about what a difference a tune makes. Does anybody have actual 1/4 mile times with mph on their trunk going from a stock tune to a vendor tune with no other changes to their truck but the tune. Looking for trucks that are mostly stock. All I have is a CAI and different muffler. Quote
tonygss2003 Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 good question id like to know too Quote
f1ss Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) I know someone was pulling a 14.2 (or another tenth second) with a cai, flowmasters and 160 stat. Although I wouldnt recomended changing the t-stat, maybe to a 180 if your f/i or spraying... Edited April 10, 2012 by 03mass (see edit history) Quote
Krambo Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 For a stock truck, look to gain up to .4 on the high side and .15 on the low side...IMHO with all running conditions being the same. Quote

cb2big4u Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I can see not changing it if you live somewhere up north. But if its hot as shit all year I would think its a good idea. Quote
JC03SS Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I changed mine back in 07 to a 160 no probs what so every. Drove it on some really cold mornings up in north fl 17 a few days and lots in the 20's and was still fine. Quote

The fact that you added 60' times was really nice. Not that I am drag racing expert but at least I've been to the track enough to know that the easiest way to lower a et is by cutting down your 60' and that your mph is all about your hp. If all I got out of a tune was a .15 quicker et and the mph didn't really change I'd say it wasn't worth it. The 5 or 6 mph you got shows you got some horsepower out of it too. Quote

I'll be dyno testing my 1500 hd(6l with 80e) with a stock tune and zippy tune back to back shortly to prove out hp gain. I estimate 20-30 hp with no mods to truck. Quote

diggerdan11 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I dont know the speed I ran for my Stock Run, but I ran a 15.2. With my tune I ran a 14.67 @ 91.5 Now those were at different tracks at different elevations, the first one being about 1300 ft and the second being about 200ft Quote
