Anybody been to the Bahamas? Have a few questions

I'm getting married in September and my girl and I are planing on going to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. We've never been there and we're not to sure what to expect. We want to stay at the atlantis resort (has really good reviews). Any advice on things to do? I definitely want to scuba dive and any other cool activities we can. What's the weather like? Is it expensive like the food and activities? Also first stop on the way is Florida to change plains on the way back we're thinking of trying to stay a night there. As of right now for 5 days/4 nights I'm looking at about 2200.00 and in that plan we'll be stuck in Florida for 6 hours on our way back home so that's kinda cool might be able to get around Florida a little bit. Know of any sites to get better prices on vacation packages? Any advice would be appreciated.

My father went and had a great time. Is the one place I would really like to go to outside the US. Otherwise I do not care to leave the US. Went to Italy in April 2001 and wouldn't go back. Venice, Sorrento, Milan, Rome, Isle of Capri, that volcano that turned people to rock, and many other spots where the shopping is.

edit - he went to Atlantis and had a blast.

I stayed at the rio palace did all-inclusive for 7 days awesome time hotel is nice and they have fun shows everynight for free. Its also right next to the Atlantis literally and we went there acouple nights they got a lot of cool places but its expensive. My suggestion is to stay at the rio palace and if u want to experience Atlantis u still can just walk there.

I stayed at the sandals resort in grand exhuma. All inclusive about 2300 with airfare.. I also live in Florida though. We had a great time and they got an incredible greg Norman gokf course on site. It'll definitely be hot that time a year. Pack light.

I too stayed at Sandals Grand Bahamian resort ... It was great, especially with their private island. We enjoyed it, along with Sandals being one of the best All-Inclusive resort companies out there.

Just keep in mind that even though the Bahamas seems warm, it is not that far south in the Caribbean ... It basically has the same weather and temp of southern Florida.

Just stay away from Wild Orchid in Montego Bay Jamaica ... It was horrible ...

the girl and i went December of '11 and we stayed at Atlantis for 7 days. i loved Atlantis. it was so spectacular. deff rent the jet skis. we went deep sea fishing and caught some wild stuff. scuba was very cool and swimming with dolphins. the food and drinks are pricy, but you never have to leave the resort. we did so much walking around and just seeing things. that resort is astounding and just constantly blows your mind. we are planning to go back very soon cause were getting married in june and might go for honeymoon also. heres a tip....the bars will quit serving at 2:30-3:00. go into the casino (open 24-7 of coarse) and they will serve you alcohol around the clock. drop a $5 in a machine and collect drinks hahaha

So do you recommend the atlantis over the others? Where did you guys eat? I'm not tryin to go broke on food lol I rather spend money on activitys. Deep sea fishing would be cool so would para sailing. Is the water park included in the stay or is that extra? Do you just walk up and do whatever activitys or do you have to book far in advance?

Honestly ... Check out online, all of the All-Inclusive places the Bahamas have to offer.

Atlantis and Sandals are typically a little more expensive. Start doing your homework on TripAdvisor.com or Expedia.com ... See what other people are saying about the resorts. A resort website will only publish what they want you to read about themselves. Heck, it's their website, and of course they want you to stay there.

Find something that fits your liking and your budget. I find that almost anything that is All-Inclusive, isn't that bad at all. Yes, some resorts are better then others, but it still beats staying at home.

Also check out Apple Vacations. They seem to be one of the top internet All-Inclusive travel sites.

You may also want to travel on say Thursday to Wednesday, or such. Airfare may be cheaper flying mid week. Plus if your getting married, you'll be dog-ass tired the day after your wedding. Why rush on a honeymoon. Stay home a couple days then go on your Honeymoon refreshed. (plus you have time to open up all the cards for the extra spending cash ..:thumbs: )

great post stitches. ruben - at atlantis you do have to book the extra activitys. the food is more pricy as you would expect but you can eat very well with out spending a ton. the water park is included, just gotta get the wrist band per day that is i think $2 for that and a big towel to rent. i cant wait to go back with all this talk of it. haha

I was a Traveling WHORE back in the day ... LOL ... ...

I've been all over the Carribean a few times, Canada, Europe, USA and been to Australia four times ... If I had $1.00 for every plane I've ever been on, I could retire next week ...LOL

Thanks for all the info guys. We're now looking at the cove atlantis since it has really good reviews but can't decide between there and the atlantis. It's so hard to decide where to stay since we've never been there and just wanna have the best time possible. One review said to pack another bag full of water bottles and snacks they said they save a lot of money doing that. Can you travel with that stuff?
