evandostert
My abs light is on. Low speed stops pedal pulsing. I am pretty sure it's a hub. I lifted truck and the hubs appear tight. How do I scan/ diagnose exactly what sensor needs replacing?
Blown 346
By using a stethoscope or the old screw driver trick with the truck in the air safely and in drive, wheel off. I had the same issue and thats how mine was diagnosed. Leave the center cap axle nut on while doing this so you dont get wacked by the wheel studs. evandostert
The abs started kicking in on low speed stops= wheel hub abs sensor gone. I replaced both back to working 100%
ty2185
To diagnosis which one is bad. A good wheel speed sensor will typically produce an AC voltage reading of 50 to 700 mV when the wheel is turning one revolution per second. Hook a volt meter set on AC to the sensor end of the connector. Spin the tire and measure the voltage. Lower than 50mV is your bad sensor. Generalms02
So, I've had this same issue recently.... I replaced the wheel speed sensor already and the pedal still pulses (ABS activates) at low speeds. Could the wheel speed reluctor ring be my problem? '99slobird
Had this issue myself, odds are the bearing is the problem. A sensor was $50, bearing with the sensor was $110 and it only takes a few more minutes to change when you are that far into it.

SS6.oh
I use a scan tool. I carefully watch the wheel speeds. I look for one that consistantly reads slighty differnt than the others. Sometimes it's not consistent and you have to watch for awhile. it's hard to explain but if you watch/ read enough wheel speed data you'll start to see things that tip you off to which one is the problem. Specifically watch the data at the typical mph that the false activation is happening. You should see a slight variation in one of the sensor speeds when the false activation occurrs.... Or just before. Obviously while turning you will have differnt speeds from each wheel but you can sometimes noticed a anomaly while turning as well. Look for a sudden jump or decrease in speed .
