mando28
Hey guys just wanted to ask where some of you bought your 4l80e. I'm still not sure if I'm going to build my 4l65e or just go with a 4l80e for my AWD. Knowing where you guys bought it or whAt truck it came off would help me out a lot Thnx
shawnss
Bought mine from my local salvage yard. had 109k on it. paid $400.00 had a small crack around one of the bolt holes. had it welded for $65.00. ran it for awhile with zero issues, still have it but its out of the truck. but will go back in. it came out of a 2004 chevy express van 2500HD with a 6.0 in it. Downeast Johnny
Check out Randy's build thread. He has been through a LOT trying to get his 80 together and has gained some wisdom through the experience. Shawn had a great how to about the install process with really good photos. (Not sure if it's still up or not). Yup; Found it. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/78638-how-to-4l80e-swap-into-awd-silverado-ss/ If I am remembering correctly the early versions gad gear ratios that work a little easier with our trucks than later versions. There is a lot of reading in this thread. I think that the trans talk doesn't get going good till about half way through the thread. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/85604-the-storm/ Happy reading.
