  1. He may get interference and lesser quality with an AM|FM version. With one that hard wires, it maintains true digital quality from start to finish. The others send via radio frequency... lose some quality there. (It probably doesn't matter cause most of my iPod songs are downloaded crappy 56 bitrate versions anyway, lol)
  2. I'm thinking about buying a Bose sub from a member here, but am not sure how to (or if it's possible) add the second sub to my truck. 1) How big is the sub? I've never looked for mine. 2) Where is it? 3) What would I have to do to run another? Do I have to add another amp, or does the factory have enough juice to push both? Need adapters or splitters? Any help would be good... I don't want to mess something up. Thanks.
  3. I didn't know there was a sub in the SS? Where is it in the truck? Hate to ask this (no radio experience) would it be hard to add to my SS? I have the Bose option... or would I need to spend another 200 on cables and splitters etc etc... Anyhow, I'm always looking to bump the stereo system up some more...
  4. Try to get one with the BOSE, you'll love it! Personally I like the AWD... does add weight though (and potential for more repairs). And look around at mods you want, finding them already on the truck would be a bonus. Example that I missed on: Same truck I have but the one I didn't buy had a gaylord speedstur! I won't be affording that anytime soon for this truck...
  5. Is there a story behind that? Don't know why, just curious.
  6. I'm going to find him... If I say more it'll be used as police evidence.
  7. Let me know how you make out with the wheels ( I assume powdercoat? ) I'm looking to have it done, just ran into some problems last time... outrageous price and bills... blah blah. I heard the center caps are problems.... I like it man... my friend is doing the same thing to his GMC Sonoma. Not as far along as you, but that's what he wants. I'll only show him the pics without the license plate, cause he'd be at your front door in a quick minute.
  8. sorry to double post, but is the bad part of the stud close to what you're fastening to? Meaning will the missing thread hinder the nuts grip? or do you just have to get the nut past it and then it's no big deal? Just something to think about; if it's close to the point of tightening it'll strip more easily and make not grip well.
  9. Look inside the nut... sometimes the nuts gets f'ed up too... If you cross-thread they may both have gone bad. 1 missing thread shouldn't be something that stops the nut unless it makes the nut angle to one side... ... but yeah, I agree with the other guys, buy a die for that stud size. If you can't find the size and thread count, buy a thread gauge ( or take the nut to a machine shop or auto parts store). I think anyone that is a do it yourselfer should have a thread gauge though. Keep us posted on the reason when you find it...
  10. Truck looks great man... I wish my rear window opened! You one upped me, damn you! I don't see a single swirl in your paint either, is the paint job pretty new? I know when I wash mine it looks great until I see it in a certain angle of sunlight. Then I cry a little.
  11. It's not to scale, but it's the best I could do in a few moments... hope it helps. * I may have f'ed up... I think thats 22" and 24". Sorry...
  12. I didn't mean to bash the Ferrari at all, my favorite supercar EVER is the Enzo... I just wanted to show that Z06 on a closed circuit course. I really did like the comment his buddy made "chew him up, chew him up" lol... he didn't say much later on in the vid. Now I know what my next mod will be, they look bad ass!
  13. The BEST mod I have done to my truck thus far! The chrome SS bowtie andblack gloss grille is a killer combo. Made the truck look like a million bucks!

  16. I'm not gonna talk. The vid says it all. Listen to the arrogant comment at 1:25...
  17. Yes We Can!... Move to Canada! Saw that on a tshirt, just had to post...
  18. Because Obama is black that means all black people are going to be rich now???? I'm white. Where is my million Mr. George Dubya Bush? I'd like to hear Obama's reply to that chick. And I quote: "What the f**k is she talking about?" Just my opinion. I saw numerous bumper stickers saying "African Americans for Obama" and "Latin Americans for Obama"... and that was supported and praised. Would it have been the same as if I had a bumper sticker that said "Whites for McCain"? I'm not racist, and think every man is his own man, but IT WORKS BOTH WAYS!!!!
  19. Some more pics here... http://media.myfoxphilly.com/slideshows/im...08implants1.htm
  20. Just FYI: I bought a set of halo headlights off ebay (Sonar brand) and they came with no instructions. IF your fogs are made by Sonar you need to put resisters inline with them (unless something has changed) or they burn out quickly from what I read online (numerous posts though, so I believed it). They look great though. Sonar does make matching headlight sets for our truck...
  21. Those HID lights look awesome man... I bought a projector set with halo's off ebay and they looked BAD ASS at night, but they didn't light the road up farther than 25 feet. It was nice clean light up until that point and then just a line of darkness. It wasn't even gradual; just a line! Since my accident I put the old ones (stock) back on... If you don't mind, how much were they?
  22. I hope it's the cv joints... they're nice and cheap. lol I appreciate the info guys, the noise is driving me nuts. Get it asap delay18... it only gets worse... lol.
  23. I get a loud low pitched hum while driving. It seems to adjust to my speed (usually at 10-45 mph)... It stops for a half a second in between coasting and when I touch the gas again, but it's there all the time. I'm thinking a wheel bearing maybe? I do get some creaking when I turn every now and again. Almost like a shudder... Any idea would be appreciated... Thanks, Jim.
  24. I'm going to be buying a Haynes manual tonight, I'll scan the electrical diagram for you sometime tonight... I need the manual to change my license plate lamp... can't tell if I'm doing it wrong or if it's just that much of a pain in the @$$...
  25. I bought my SS when it was just about as stock as you could get it (except a tonneau and some carbon fiber dash decals). After a hefty down-payment and dealer fees I didn't have much cabbage to mod my dream truck as I wanted. However there are a few things I did for less that really made the difference... Please chip in your ideas! Materials: 1 can black gloss Krylon spray made for plastics. 1 can black gloss spray 1 can black flat spray 1 can high temp "Ford Red" spray (other colors looked too orange) 1 roll painters tape 1 can brake cleaner 1 newspaper (after your read it... no waste!) -------------------------------------------- About $40... With the black gloss plastic spray: 1) Taped\sprayed all 5 grilles. With the black gloss spray: 1) Removed the wheels and taped\sprayed the hubs. (round piece of metal between the rotor and the wheel studs) 2) Dropped the tailgate and sprayed all the metal you could see with the tailgate shut. With the flat black: 1) Sprayed the tailpipe as far as could be seen. (and inside the pipe also... hides the carbon buildup) 2) With the wheels off, taped around the chrome and sprayed the inside of the wheel... don't forget the inside lip as you'll see it from the back and on the front wheels while turning. 3) The trailer hitch and hooks. 4) Touched up various spots inside the wheel well that stood out to the eye. 5) Resprayed old oxidized tonneau. With the high temp red spray: 1) What else? The CALIPERS baby! I decided to spray the entire brake setup including the pads... really glad I did. It looks so much better (in my opinion). All said and done... $40 and a few hours. WOW! What a difference! Pics are below... sorry the truck was dirty when I took them... the pictures just don't do it justice as to when you're standing next to a clean truck looking at the whole package... Jim.
