  1. Assuming you put the cut-outs in the middle of your O2 sensors, then all you would need to do is have the rear O2s turned off (otherwise you would pop a CEL for Catalyst Efficiency). These motors do not have carburetors, they do not work on a vacuum driven fuel system. The fuel injectors on these trucks do not care how much back-pressure you have, they will move the fuel as they're programmed to. Also, installing cut-outs (before the converter) will cause a loss of back pressure, which will increase the scavenging effect of your exhaust system, and make it easier for the exhaust to exit, and should hopefully increase power. You will notice a loss of low-end torque (from the lack of back-pressure), however the high-end will benefit from it. And they just sound awesome.
  2. You could, but I'm kind of looking forward to driving home, not being flown home in MedEvac 'copter...
  3. Basically VHO's had selectable 4WD, whereas the SS was only AWD or 2WD. Somebody on this forum has the best quote for it in their signature: "It's an SS from the waist up, and a Z71 from the waist down"
  4. Sorry about to hear about the bad news Dan... Hopefully it gets fixed before LVD... Look at it this way... At least now you can be the guinea-pig for Rossler's Transbrake! If you decide to go with Rossler, that is (I would, BTJM).
  5. But will all the doors be Lambo doors?
  6. I made up time like it was going out of style! I'm down to meet up at the Charlton Service Plaza! Looks like I'm leaving home at 5am this year!
  7. 346 mi – about 6 hours 11 mins Sorry Kev, can't justify a day trip for that... That's a tank of gas each way!!!
  8. Should still work for me! Hopefully it'll be a little chilly by then so I can hope to pop my 14.5... I'm gonna take the sub-box out and tail-gate off, load up race fuel and hope for low 14s!
  9. That's a little too early... That puts me leaving my house at around 5am! Last time I went to LVD and met with the crew, we met up at around 9am (I think...) I'm flexible though, let's get to a general consensus and go from there
  10. Am I eastern MA? I definitely am game. What time you thinkin?
  11. Time to pick up the phone and get serious! E-Mails are impersonal and can be easily lost or sidetracked during day-to-day shuffle. Be aware of the fact that most of these shops are very well renowned, see a huge amount of business daily, and very very busy. Get on that phone and start calling, you will find some very knowledgeable people willing to spend a couple minutes on the phone with you. Guaranteed.
  12. No crawling under the truck is necessary. Those housings will pop right off with a little bit of love, and then it's cake to change the bulb.
  13. The AWD SS transfer case is different. It is built to be used at highway speeds. Also, I'm almost positive we have different driveshafts from the 4WD guys, and maybe even front diff (or maybe just the gearing is different?).
  14. Since it doesn't sound like you'd be building this motor yourself, you might start by putting in a phone call to a reputable speed shop. They'd be more then willing to talk to money out of your wallet, and let you know what your options are. I would recommend talking to LPE (Lingenfelter Performance Engineering), or SLP Performance Parts, or Texas Speed and Marine and seeing what they will offer you as a reliable, turbo ready block. Good luck, let us know what you decide to do, and take lots of pictures!!!
  15. I could see corrosion being an issue, what with snow and road salt and the constant heat-up/cool-down that results from drive cycles... Other than that you're good to go! I would spray it down every once and a while just to get the dirt and such off of it... PS: What happens if snow gets packed in between the fins and then freezes into ice? Will the snow expand and bend the fins/cores?
  16. What are your plans in the event of rain? Will the event continue indoors?
  17. If you're really looking for just a tuning laptop, take a look at what I have on the way to me right now: Asus Eee PC 1000 40GB, Runs on linux (very very easy to put XP on to though), 7.5 hours of battery life, built in wireless, built in bluetooth (for roadrunner ) EDIT: Found the same product with windows preinstalled ($480): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834220431
  18. I would recommend HP over dell. HP's build quality (the materials used in the casing, the screen, keyboard, etc) seems to be much higher than that of Dell's. How about something like this: HP Compaq 6535b Notebook That can be easily customized to meet all your criteria listed above
  19. Alright guys, sign me up. I managed to get that day off so I'll be hauling out there and hopefull shooting for the 14.5s and lower. Unfortunately I have a board meeting to get to on Sunday so I can't stay for the cruise...
  20. Yes, but only if people with more bowties can command you...
  21. So then the 70e has no problem being mated to the AWD system in an 03... Hang on, I need to go change my build sketch!

Chuck Norris goes killing. -Chuck Norris counted to infinity - twice.

  24. Not for me, seemed like once the LTFTs were established it started doing it... Specifically I see about a 60rpm drop when the compressor kicks on, followed by a shudder and an 80rpm surge as the engine recovers. It seems to happen in a pretty regular cycle of about 2 times every 30 seconds. I can only imagine that the compressor is kicking off because of the rpm drop and then coming back on as the engine recovers. I haven't looked at it with the scanner yet, I wasn't really concerned about it. I grab some logged data and take a look and see if I can find it in the numbers.
  25. I know you said that were joking there, but insulting members really isn't something we take lightly here. And, no duh the truck warms up faster with E-Fans... I believe that would be common knowledge.
