  1. Paulguy, Yes I agree you cannot bi-amp without a processor (way to much power) and the really nice thing about either the 701 or the 800 processors is you can first rta or spl your 5 speakers to get the levels about the same around 65-70 in our trucks, I could not get 75db and then all the speaker are pretty much the same volume at your preferred listening levels once that is complete you can set all your speakers to small or large and finally you can cut some DB to each speaker in the XO settings I have the tweeters at -3db and they are still a bit overpowering but only with really really bright vocals I know there are reference disks but I have about 10 tracks that I use to setup systems but for me it is all about the music and I listen to a lot of different music. I use Leonard Cohen Live "Joan of Arc" , Mary Black "Columbus" , Natalie McMaster "Drunken Piper" , Trisha Yearwood "The Song Remembers When" for all around as she has an awesome range in here voice; Too bad Garth made her a backup singer. I really like Kid Rock's "Blue Jeans and Rosary" he has really nice tones in his voice when he does songs like this and finally Sarah's "Angel". See I told ya I had weird music taste. I ran into my Niece at a store one day and I was picking up the new Eminiem CD, and she was completely FREAKED OUT that I listen to some eminiem. Saturday Night I listened to Chilliwack, Al Stewart and STYX ON VINYL - LOL. Ya all those clicks and pops and white noise. There are P & G EQ's in the processor and I have not even gone there yet. As for Dynamat Yes I did the doors, I covered and wrapped the speaker openings as well as all the plastic seams, the surround as well as the speaker baffle to spacer brackets the same in the rears. I reused that GM underpad on the amp rack surround, So far no rattles and I can basically turn the HU to MAX with zero listening distortion with some VERY heavy bass I will get some xmax on the current sub but that will stop with the new subs and when I reset the gain on that amp. I still may take the doors apart and put another piece behind the cone on the outer panel. I like all to be equal so if I am listening at low levels I want the bass fill to be equal and in proportion to the same if I was listening at high levels; if that makes sense. To be honest I wish you could buy amps without all the filters and crossovers in em. like home audio 5 channels plug em in hook em up and tune at the pre-amp - DONE. It would be much easier. I had to LAUGH I returned the kicker slim 10" sub to BB in Ottawa and the installer had to test it to make sure it worked we got to talking about it after and I told him that I preferred the pioneer slim model over the kicker and he was adiment that it did not matter and bass was non-directional and there should be no difference blah blah blah, I felt like saying come over to my house and I will play you some music and a couple movie tracks if you can find my sub in the room I'll give ya beer or two. first order 2nd order, reflections etc,,, it all makes a difference that is why people spend 2000$ plus on M&K Sub-woofers when you could still get them, Because they were the best subs ever built hands-down. If I could figure out how two put two 10's in one box, one down firing and one front firing in a push-pull config and make it fit under the seat I would be trying it. Regards, Dave
  2. I bought my 04 AB in july and as much as I would like I cannot keep both trucks. I trying to get a new building up on my land before my current lease ends at the end of May next year. Building and Development Fees are Brutal and Approvals take FOREVER in Ottawa. Here is my 04 in this thread with 22 reps on it. http://www.silverado...-and-purchased/ Dave
  3. Holy tire and rim swapping BATMAN. I have changed more tires and rims in the last couple weeks more than I care to. Anyhow here is my 03 VR with the Boss 330's 20" polished lip with New 420S stock size. I had these on the 04 AB truck but on the VR they just make the truck pop. This is the truck I am selling with these rims. I am getting some paintworked repaired and the drivers seat rip repaired and then it will be listed. Rgds, Dave
  4. These are sold being shipped out to the new owner tomorrow. Thanks SSS rgds, Dave
  5. OUCH just for fun I called a couple places in town for the delco caliper pricing from aftermarket. 920 each list for the fronts and 846 cost. They must be GOLD. rgds, Dave
  6. Thanks for the kudos guys. Pauiguy the backup cam is the alpine hce-117D, I did not bother with the active system. the speakers in the rear are 4x6 INF reference and the front comps are alpine SPR-60C, the new ones with the hamr surround and the larger silk dome tweeter. I had inf reference in the front and I played with them a lot but could not make them sound good at any crossover point or roll off, installed the alpine and set the cross overs at 3.2 at 18 and 80 at 18 and they sound great, better mid-bass, softer highs, warm and not too bright on the top I actually like these better than the X series you do not need alot of power to drive them and make them sound good. truth be told I really miss my Focals in the front. but spending a couple hundred compared to a grand I REALLY LIKE. rgds, Dave
  7. Hey Man, That processor is 5.1 so I have the front components running active so 2 channels to the tweeters 2 channels to the mids 2 channel to the rears and the the amp on the right in the picture is for the subs currently it is the slim 10" pioneer which is really nice but I have two Alpine swr-t10's on order and then I will build my sub box and finally tune it all completely, it sounds amazing right now but once time alignment and bass focus is complete it will be 100%. I still may mod out the 4x6 in the rear and add the 5" coax. The problem with all the speakers is the low cut off points are different and it is very hard to tune the sub. IE the rear are 70Hz and the center channel is 100+ Hz. I currently have it setup at 80Hz and 90Hz at 24db for the LP on the center and rears. Tuning is a pita, the new 800 processor which I have on order is done with a laptop and I cannot wait. for it. My only complaint with alpine; and I have been running alpine since 1989, when I bought my first system for my Monte Carlo SS. Their sources are not balanced, I.E. when you play a CD it's louder than when you switch to radio or ipod or usb etc... Rgds, Dave
  8. darn it, I thought it filled the wells pretty good. UGGH!.. More Money. I had planned for a 2/3 come spring, but got a put the mods in order. The brakes, engine, tranny and diff come first. Although I would really like to find a 05 loaded silver with LOW km. There was a silver one across the street with about 60K on it when I bought the blue one and I would have bought the silver one BUT someone had replaced all the interior trim panels with WOODGRAIN....and they were asking about 6K more than I paid for the blue one with only 15K less miles. rgds, Dave
  9. Well I got most of my stuff for my Alpine Demo order. the pxa-H800 is B/O until Jan and my subs are not in yet. but the rest is pretty much done. I sent my 701 processor out and had a new digital board installed so I can use it in the meantime. I am still waiting for the LP bracket for the back up camera as well but here are some pics of the progress. I still have to install the edges to amp rack board, wire the leds (blue) and then cover it and final fit and finish. I hope I get it done before I put it away for the winter Rgds, Dave
  10. Rudy, Received the brackets and hardware on Friday. They look great, thanks, now to save some Cash and get the rest of the parts. Well winter will be here soon and the truck will be put to bed so I have some time to find the DEALS. Thanks, Dave
  11. Got the rims this week, replaced the bad tire and installed em and cleaned em up yesterday. I like em. The Boss 20" 330 are going on the VR tomorrow and a good cleaning. I will post some pics of it when done. Rgds, Dave
  12. here is a pic of mine. I got it in a frame now but you can really see the creases in the poster. Thanks. Dave
  13. Here are a couple pics of the bumper, I have three quotes to get today for guys interested. I quoted a couple places like Utah was 173 with fed ex and another was 200$. UPS is NUTS, like $275 to Utah and a billable weight of 209lbs. Regards, Dave
  14. If you find the other box let me know PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE . I got mine today and it looks like it has been through WW3. Box looks like it was stepped on and used as a baseball bat. Needless to say the poster is ripped top and bottom. creased in the middle and on the edges from being flattened in the box, This is WHY we pay so much for shipping costs today so they can DESTROY what we get shipped. UGGH!!!!! I am LIVID. Regards, Dave
  15. Hey All, I replaced my front and rear bumper covers on the weekend. I have tossed the rear as it was pretty bad. The front has some scrapes etc but could be repainted and used I hate to throw it away no rips, tears or cracks. I would be willing to pack it up and ship it. The bumper you can have just cover the shipping costs. This would be great for someone cloning a truck that has to paint anyhow. rgsd, Dave
  16. I just picked up the pioneer slim 10" sub and cabinet and it's cheap and fits well I could easily put one on either side of the bump currently driving it with a M500 Alpine Amp. I wanted musical and fill at low volumes for the 180$ CDN this thing is at Best Buy, It has really impressed. it's ok for now. When I get my new processor and amps I will likely upgrade to thin 10" alpines and build custom boxes for them. I am new Alpine dealer and I got a great info book from them with my dealer package and it has some great enclosure examples for both sealed and ported enclosures for all of the Alpine subs and pretty much any required fitments, these are with layouts and all measurements. The one I found for our trucks fit the New SWR-T10 sub and in a sealed enclosure it measures - 20L x 5"H x 12.5"D. rgds, Dave
  17. Hey All, Called Gaylord today to get a price on a speedsturr X-2000. no fancy options. NO CDN dealers anymore and they quoted me 1850 shipped to Canada. Does that seem high. On another note I got my Cowl induction hood on the way for 490 Shipped. Rgds, Dave
  18. Hey All, I need one Nitto 420S 285/45/22 for my new rims coming in, one tire is damaged, I called Kal today and they want 290 a tire and no stock anywhere in Canada. Nice the US guys are not allowed to ship to Canada anymore but KAL never ahs any stock. When I bought my 20's in the spring they did not have those either. if anyone is close to a nitto dealer and can find one for me I would gladly cover your costs to pick it up and I would have fed ex or UPS pick it up. thanks, Dave
  19. Agreed, even Alpine F#1 Status lasted longer an probably still the most money and best sounding stuff you can buy even used. I would snap up a PXA-H900 prcoessor any where I could find one. The last one I saw on ebay hit 1500$ in no time. rgds, Dave
  20. here here, I had a wicked sony system in my 00 Dakota RT. it was the CDX-C90 with the XDP-4000 hooked to a mac amp and Focal 165K3 three way front stage. That sounded really REALLY GOOD. Had to love the 72DB BRICK WALL that processor had and you could hook it to a laptop to program it in 1999 EVEN. LOL. Regards, Dave
  21. Hey Guys, For an AB 04 SSS, I am looking for a few things. as in the title, Gaylords are a PITA to get in Canada for some reason so I am on the hunt for an Arrival Blue Speedstur cover, I have a CDN built low rider tonneau with inside upper carpet and single lock to trade or sell if I find a speedstur. Billet grill package complete a good one - still trying to decide if I want one or not. Goodmark cowl induction hood - Got it on the way. SS front Chevy emblem driver and passenger B Pillar interior trim. I am working on a TAZ SSS logo (sticker) currently it will be kick ass. if anyone has any ideas shoot me a pm or e-mail. I also have an 8" phoenix gold sub in a sealed cablinet which fits under the back seat perfectly has black carpet I covered it ages ago but still looks good. It also has the SS logo embossed on the front, which I created from some marine plywood fastened to the box and covered with black carpet. I upgraded to the slim pioneer 10" sub which hits pretty hard I may add and it's musical which is what I wanted. Thanks, Dave
  22. A shipping tip for you guys. I got a quote from yellow freight where I get very good discounts as I bring tons of outboard parts from FL all the time. Anyhow the girl gave me a quote of 272. I called up my rep and asked here about it and I said it seems quite high. She checked on the class and ofcourse they classed it as a 200 and it should have been a class 85. I can get you guys the actual nsmb class code my rep gave me it dropped the shipping for a 48x48x24 pallet to 171.00 CDN from Houston to Ottawa Canada Time Guaranteed Service. Picked up in houston today have em Next monday. Regards, Dave
  23. Yep, I just replaced the front and rear on my 03 VR SS and the bumpers were 400$ plus freight from the company on Ebay and then another 650 to paint them and they match the rest of the cladding perfectly. Our trucks VR paint code dates back to 89 by the way. So I am tossing out the old front and rear bumbers. Mine did not have step pads. The rear bumper I do not think you could save it is pretty hacked up ( I own a marina and I am dumb ass and do not have a back up camera installed) with an 8" long split in the center you are wlecome to it plus shipping if you want to try it. The front one is useable but has some good scratches in it needs a repaint. Regards, Dave
  24. So there is a set of 24 Boss 313's for sale locally, so I was browsing images of silverado's on google with those rims installed and low and behold there is a picture of a set of 22" chrome replica's for sale with 420 Nitto's. I jumped all over them and they are on a truck to canada tomorrow. pumped... one tire needs to be replaced but oh well.
