Well, The last time the front right wheel bearing let go and I had that replaced and we checked the front end and the inner tie rod passenger side had about 1/4" of slop in it. Now I have a shimmy on the drivers side and I have had the rim and tire balanced 3 times checked the outer tie rod, ball joint, alignment, wheel balance, swapped rims etc to try and fix it no dice. Front shocks are good. all the bolts and nuts in the front end are tight everything is greased. bushings are ok. check A-arms ok. it always ends up being the inner tie rods. Only thing I have not done is the front u-joints or checked the Torsion bars.

Hey All, What company makes a complete front end kit for our trucks. I have put three sets of inner tie rods in my truck under 70K. They are garbage and I would like something better. Thanks, Dave

Bottom line is 800$. The tires are basically a bonus in the deal. I was gonna have them removed when I got the new rims installed but figure they may help someone out. The rims are really nice other than the arse that used std wheel weights on them, there is some paint chipping behind the weight. That is the only area on the any of the rims that is bad and a good cleaning and polish would not hurt. The coin sticking out of the tire is a loonie. Thanks, Dave

Hi All, Well I finished my rim tire swaps between the two trucks and I ended up getting a smoking deal on a set of Boss 330 super polish 20" for the blue truck. I went with 20 as I got a good deal and they had them in stock and I just bought new 20" Nitto's for the truck so I figure I will wear out the nitto's and then buy some 22's. Anyhow I have the 4 original oem wheels with caps from the 03 SS in decent shape they have pirelli scorpions on them right now and one tire needs to be replaced as it has a wobble at 45-50 mph. The rest of the tires are good and have about 50% tread or more left. I will get some pics tomorrow I forgot to bring the camera home tonight from the shop. I am asking 950$ obo for the set. I want to sell the set complete and not interested in splitting them up. Tires are in Ottawa, Ontario Canada postal code is K0A 1L0. I have no problem putting these on a skid and shipping them but that will be extra. I get pretty good rates with Yellow freight and would be able to get some quotes. Regards, Dave

Hey All, Finally got the install done yesterday on the truck. I have a x-over question. I am wondering where to set the crossover on the sub amp to start to tune it. The hu/mra-350 have the hp and lp for the sub built in to it. I am wondering if I turn the setting on the MRA-M500 all the way up or down to bypass it. I cannot find any literature from alpine. It is sounding pretty good. I have to do time correction this morning. I have the fronts (I reference components) rear and center set to pass at 100Hz flat right now, still playing with the slopes 12db seem pretty nice 24 is really harsh. I have the center width set to 5 for PL-II and the tweeters for the fronts are in the a-pillars of the silverado and cut to 0 db They are still pretty bright bouncing of the windshield. I have the PXA-701 installed in the truck but not hooked up and that may be the way I go if I could find a good amp for equal 6 channel output. The WALL live in berlin sounded pretty awesome in DTS last night though. Will try and get some pics in the next couple days. Thanks, Dave S

I only noticed because I worked all day yesterday on the stereo and pulled the door panels off last night as a final job and went to lock the doors and of course the electrics did not work and the drivers lock is seized up and voila no passenger side lock. I got a price on a new drivers side today and it was 125 list. 93 trade (my cost) and of course I asked if they could key it to my vin and they said well that will be extra $$$ - LOL. Hey All, I noticed on the weekend my 2004 SS does not have a keyed lock on the passenger side, Is this normal for an 04 model. My 03 does. I cannot see on the handle where anyone would have deleted the key with body work but who knows. Regards, Dave

Hey Guys, I am looking at the wiring diagrams for my new HU and I am wondering how to integrate a sub and amp with the install. SO! Is it possible to hook up the HU with my pac modules as normal to use the bose amp etc... AND THEN just run a set of RCA's from the Sub-Output on the alpine HU to the new amp for the sub? What would I do with the bose sub, disconnect it or just leave it and have a sub in the front and the rear. Thanks, Dave

New tailgate straps and SS logo, Cleaned inside and out, washed and waxed, Pirelli scorpions 60%, Transgo - HD2, Corvette Servo, MSD Wires, IX plugs, ATE Slotted Rotors with GM Top Ceramic Pads, Russel SS Brake lines, Painted Calipers, New GM Front Wheel Bearings, New Inner Tie Rods, T/A Diff Cover. Royal Purple since I got the truck, Engine, Tranny, Diffs, GM in Transfer Case, New U-joints, Gas Tank Vent Recall Replace (400$) in Canada. Wheatley Tune. Choice of Radio Stock, or Alpine IVA201 with controls and hooked to bose or IVA-203 with controls hooked to the bose. 190000KM all Highway, Truck is still fast the only problem with the truck is a small exhaust tick when cold it is still the stock exhaust and no leak in the pipes or muffler. Towing Package. I got the window tinting fixed on the blue one, had the carpets and headliner shampooed and dried out properly. Had the magnaflow installed yesterday, What a difference over the mickey mouse exhaust that was on there, I really should have had them take some pics of it. I got the power back. I ordered all my tranny parts, T/A diff girdle, new trans pan. CAI, wires, Plugs, serp belt and all new fluids this weekend. I am finding somethings different in the 04 over the 03. like my climate control on the 03 I just hit auto and set the dial, I have never had to touch the snowflake for ac on the 04 I do, the seats on the 04 feel a lot higher than on the 03 as well. Maybe it's just me.

Hey Guys, it's been a while. I need some help. I parked my 03 Red SS today and I bought an 04 Arrival Blue SS that is bone stock other than the mickey mouse exhaust they have installed on it, I drove it three hours home today and my brain hurts from the drone. My 03 Red SS still has the factory exhaust at 190000KM with no leaks. Anyhow, I need to get an exhaust system and I have decided on the dyantech front end and I am up in the air on what cat back system to attach to it. I want to stay with a single outlet not duals. I like the looks of the magnaflow but I want it to sound close to stock. wheatley will get my spare ecu to fix up once I am have the exhaust installed. I need some numbers since I did not write anything down when I did the red truck, What is the spark plug wire part number for 8.5-8.8 wires and I think I am running tr6 plugs. What is the best CAI lately. Mine is the the original FIPK with the chrome tube. Exhaust is the major I am not even going to drive the truck until this is fixed it is like driving a small block with cherry bombs and turns downs before the axle right now. UGGHHHH Any updates to the tranny's my 03 has the transgo kit with the corvette servo 1-2 installed right now. with royal purple and a T/A diff girdle. Thanks in advance for the advice. Well I have been driving it for a week and I had to haul my buddy's 20' haulmark about 50 miles with a load and no light so the crank learn fixed it.

Sorry guys, I have been busy getting my new shop ready to open. Anyhow! Yes the unit is still here and for sale.

Had the crank position learn done today and it seems to be 100% now. No more light I have not pushed it like I did but pretty close and it did not light up. So I think I am golden.

I had no codes before the tune, other than an evap code. Which I had the updated valve kit installed and that fixed that problem. This has only started since the tune was installed.

Hi Zippy, So I picked up a scanner and the code it is setting is a PO300 - Random Misfire. I have not done a crank learn. I think that is the problem as well. I picked up a Innova 3100A code reader, seems really popular and well reviewed, anyhow. I cannot get the i/m monitors to lock for evap or catalyst monitor. I did clear the PO300 code but I am not sure if I have done a proper drive cycle since. I think I will book it for a relearn tomorrow. This code will only set when I am hard into the throttle at cruising speeds it seems to like after it's warmed up and between 65-75 MPH. It will flash the ses light about ten times and then go away and some times the light will come on and sometimes it will not but with the reader now I can see at least if it is pending code or not. I would like to find it quick because if it is problem with the cats I have until 130,000Km for Emissions under warranty.
