  1. Depending on your mileage on your stock engine, a new street friendly 408 may be a very good investment vs a turbo or other FI.
  2. I would be running NGK BR7EF plugs gapped at 0.035 when on a 150 shot personally. Good fuel will be a must as well as tuning. A good running data log would tell wonders. You say timing is retarded 6* but 6* from what number? Each engine will run its best on different levels of advance. The only truly way to achieve optimum timing running a 150 shot is through plug reading. You are also getting real close to needing injectors with your mods (not including the nitrous) as well. I would also recommend a high flow fuel pump. Most importantly, find someone with logging software that knows how to use it. Start with a smaller shot and progress to your 150.
  3. Need to list all your mods to assist the guys that can help.
  4. ...was there last week with the family. I have yet to go to the GM show they have. I hear it is a good show.
  5. Running Nitro has been around for a while...most commonly used as a supplement in a methanol/water injection system on a turbo / supercharger application. Snow performance actually sells some in a little bottle and claim 50HP. Nitro methane is fuel that has an oxidizer chemically bound to the hydrocarbon. When under a combustion situation, the nitro is, in a way, similar to just adding more fuel and oxygen to the combustion chamber in a tight little package. FYI, instead of buying the Snow Performance version of nitro, just go to a hobby store and buy the RC car nitro. Be very careful though...nitro is no joke, exact mixtures is essential. This is where the R&D at Snow comes into play.
  6. Missfire - did you confirm a particular cylinder or random misfire during the 10 sec run?
  7. Yea, at this point, just pin it, use a NEW GM crank bolt with some red loctite. You should be OK.
  8. Never been a problem? It is very common to spin the crank pulley without pinning it or having it keyed. Most occurences happen when the system is altered from the stock configuration (i.e. - smaller pulley for more boost or engine rev'ing higher than the stock calibration). There are a few options for an overdriven crank pulley but can you expand on what an "overdrive crank" means? 9. I had to "pull some strings" to get mine roughly 3 years ago. At that time, they were not making them anymore. Next best IMHO is the ARH. Pics:
  10. Pinning the crank pulley should be mandatory for any supercharged application or high rev'ing application.
  11. Did some shake downs / tuning this weekend on a TVS2300/built 370 at 20psi of boost in an 03 SSS. Wow! ...that is all.

The build will be outlined completely in the fall after the owner runs her at the track.

I don't recommend keeping your converter locked through the 2-3 shift. It really places alot of stress on the tranny. Good way to snap an input shaft if it isn't billet.

Very impressive times for only 12#s of boost and your supporting mods...
  14. ...Alot of false info in that article. Take it for wahtever its worth. V8's will be available LONG into the future of internal combustion engines. Want to drastically improve fuel efficiency?...dump the EPA and allow the lean buring of non ethanol "enhanced" fuels.
  15. Nice work, I am sure I could get in trouble with that pretty easily.
  16. HMMMMMM. Here is my old launch...in the near lane ...
  17. What brand wideband? Some you can do a free air cal others are an electronic cal and quite a few are no cal. Regardless, there should be an owner's manual detailing how to set up the linear slope for the range you want to be the most precise with.
  18. Seeing a pegged lean AFR reading after letting off the gas after a WOT blast is nothing more than DFCO kicking in and is normal. Low 12s for your setup isn't horrible but trimming it back a touch would be preferred IMHO. A wideband is a critical gauge to have once you start doing heavy modifications. Be sure it is calibrated before making assumptions on AFR numbers. A wideband with data logging outputs is the only true way to dial in your upper end airmass tables (Ve/MAF).
  19. In early '03 I found numerous Silverado SS's with at least a 5k mark up due to theor "limited production". There was a dealer in North NJ that was selling for no less than $51K. After I bought mine for $37,500 in PA, I went to the dealer to brag and guess what, some fool bought the truck WITH the 10K mark-up.
  20. You should look into an Aeroforce Scan Gauge rather than that clunky piece IMHO. http://www.aeroforcetech.com/ The Interceptor does much more than the scanmaster, less expensive and with a clean modern look.
  21. For Sale: HPM electric fans. Have roughly 4k on them without an issue. I do not use the HPM controller, just my home made fan harness that I will include with the sale. Here is the link to the HPM group purchase a while back: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/66810-torrent-e-fan-kits-gp-525-per-kit/page__hl__%2Bspal+%2Bfans+%2Bhpm $375.00 shipped to your door in the lower 48. A large portion of the cost is for packing and shipping. If you are local, pick-up will result in a much deeper price cut! I really do not have a good picture handy however these fans are super low profile and look fantastic.
