  3. hey i just remeber your from waterford... do u know of a place called... CARS HIGH PERFORMANCE..and/or a guy names sean that works there? i was told he seems to be pretty knowlodge able im tryin to find some one or someplace that can cut down a stock wiring harness.. and tune the motor for me..ive got hp tuners..but i havent used it anuf to do it on my own yet
  4. yes i did consider the l67 motors..im a big fan of any of the 3800s very stong motors ive had a few firebirds with 3800 and they can take an ass whoopin... but for this project..i wanna try to keep it light.. and a 3800 is heavyy. and a supercharged is a tank! basily i looked at it this way engine 1 weights 500lbs and makes 240 hp supercharged 3800 engine 2 weights 250lbs and makes 268 hp turbo 2.0 ecotec stock for stock... i know you can make a ton of power with a 3800 but i think you can make similer power with the turbo ecotec also something i took in to account was just the eco is a more modern motor..these motors will be alot easyer on my trans because they have electronic boost controlers.. so i can keep the boost down till im moving then progressivly turn up the boost where i want it.. so it wont kill the trans as fast..a supercharged 3800 are torque monsters.. and would be a wheelie monster.. which would be fun.. but would killlllll trannys...il be running a vw tranny.. which were only ment for motors that were 60 to 80 hp... so throwin 400hp isnt going to last long..and even when built..its still a matter of time before it comes apart.. the only real option is a mendola trans.. which are crazyyyy amounts of money!!!!! soo probly about $12,000 http://www.mendeolatransaxles.com/mendeola...5ea586a0df3ce4d
  5. thanks i think its going to.. 300hp in something that weighs like 1200lbs thats like 1500hp in are trucks..haha anyways i got my shocks today..its start to seem like more then just a frame now .. im geeked !
  6. ok sooo i had to keep it in the GM family! i finaly have alil good news... i made my mind up on a motor..... and the WINNER IS!!!!!!!! meet my first turbo motor....2009 ..2.0 turbo eco tec .. gm take out motor im pretty excited..almost broke again.. but excited.. the though of 265 stock hp ( im sure will be a lil more when im done >) in this light lil package does make me feel better tho

Add to the list: Subaru 2.5 makes 300 hp and weights 320 lbs (includes the turbo, inter-cooler, scoop, flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, power steering pump, and exhaust/turbo setup). also remeber all the hp and weight numbers where n/a.. and the subi was turbo im sure its alil lighter then 320 with out the turbo.. .. a n/a 2.5 subi makes 165.. so pretty much the same as a eco tech..im not sure what a n/a 2.5 subi weights or what a turbo eco tech motor weighs but i think you would be able to get the same numbers out of a turbo eco tech motor ? soo then your compairing apples to apples.. and it seems like a tie... so why not go gm? lol
  9. heres something to think about 3800 series 2 ( grand prix motor) makes 205hp and 230ftlbs and weights in at 392 lbs ( i was thinkin they were heavier) 2.4 eco tech motor makes 170hp and 170ftlbs and weights in at 273 lbs my vw motor probly makes 140hp and weights i would think about 260 lbs
  10. thats what ive heard.. crazyness!!..for sure.. i really like what ive seen from the eco-tech. and that what was in my mind from the begining..that or a subi motor.. but i dont know anything about thos motors.. and id like to keep it in the gm family if i can.. the problem is everything ive heard was with a 2.0 turbo.. i havent heard much of anything about the 2.4..so i dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing.. i think if i got in the 200 to 300hp range that would be perfect but not sure what would you can do with the 2.4s even with a good tune
  11. ok guys i need some more input... im tryin to pick out a motor for my rail... ive still got my vw motor out of my old rail.. which is a 2275cc and makes solid power.. but with being a bigger car id like to put some more motor in it... i know everyone going to say lsx motor or lq9..etc.. this rail isnt set up for a v8.. i can do a v6 or 4 banger.. i was really wanted to do a 3800 motor or supercharged 3800.. but there kinda hard to find with out 150k miles and the are heavyy...id like to stay in the GM family if i can sence i already HP TUNERS it would be handy.. and im a gm guy anyways.. i just got an email from a guy i know.. said his work has 3 or 4 eco techs that are brand new.. never started they wherre using them for mock up..anyways i guess there the 2.4 n/a 170hp motors... complete motor.. but know ecu.. or harness.. but i could pick one up for 4 or 500... i reallly wanted to do one of the turbo eco techs.. but this might be a good deal?? any thoughs.. anyone done anything with these motors? i wonder how much more hp i could get out of one with a lil tune and makin breath. or a turbo would be nice but i think the comp ratio is alil high in that motor. not sure tho guess i need to start diggin...arnt they all alumin motors?... should be pretty light i would think
  12. well il try to keep this as short as possible. Im just extreamly frusterated and need to rant and maybe some one will have an idea....so heres alil background, my family owns a mid sized trucking company that hauls mail for the government that my grandfather started in 1966. we've always tried to say mid sized so we would be more stable then the lil guys.. but under the radar from the huge guys. and we run it like a mom an pop store..( which is good and bad) well anyways now the postoffice is getting it self in trouble and starting to hurt ( i could go on for hours how messed up they are) anyways there makin cuts and more cuts.. and more cuts to the point there isnt much left.. and for what ive heard from the contract renewals( which are every 4 years).. there just sayin take %10 off the bottle line ..we dont care how. lucky for us we dont have to renew till next year and the year after for most are bigger contracts. so heres the problem. yesterday we open a letter for are new wage determination.. and its to the penny the same about as last year..there refusing to pay us the wage determination.. but telling us we Have to pay are employees the new higher wage determination.. HOW THE HELL CAN THEY DO THAT!! .. so we crunch some numbers and it ends up being about ....80k a year in wages..i dont know many business that can stay afloat when your loosing that much money ayear i know we CANT!! so were at a total lose on what to do. the wage determination has neverr been a problem before the gov sets a rate...the post offices pays us that rate.. we pay are employees that rate..its pretty cut and dry...if we didnt the department of labor would be all over are ass!!..not to worry were always very honest and pay..are employees are like family to us.. but sence the postoffice is also federal goverment.. the department of labor cant or wont do anything to them.. so we just have to eat it...THATS NOT RIGHT!! now i know some of the bigger guys out there have a collective bargaining agreement..but being were that midsized we've never done anything like that..so whats the down side of doin it? other then almost turing in to a union?... basicly all the big guys have one.. and the small guys folded in and just ate the are running ilegal/not payin the employee's, bills, or keeping there trucks safe. so were kinda a dieing breed and right in the middle which has always been a good thing untill now ... soo anyone have any ideas?? we could use them!!

  14. well if you want to spend some more money.. il sell ya my motor..lol my 383 is only a 9:5:1 and i made 553hp and thats speedway pump gas .. and its a nitros motor with a 300shot on it.. so i dont know what its going to make once i spray it.hopefully 850 875 . you should have no problem makin 450hp and streetable and with 11:5:1 you WILL still be able to run pump gas and make good power for sure..its all in the heads if you ask me. it also depends on what your budget is.. to be honest i made the same power with a scat steel crank and rods and JE forged pistions.. i was over the HP rating of the crank and rods.. but i beat the snot out of it for 2 years and pulled it apart to put the forged crank and rods in and everything still looked great..i wish i still had them.. i sold them to my buddy for a couple hundered bucks.. would have been perfect for ya.. i see if hes going to do anything with them.. also make sure to do a kit with a 6inch rod.. some places do a 5.7
  15. danny.. if some one where to ask me what i though of you.. theres only a few things that come to mind and haha i think some people might not get along with you because you just say it how it is.. and dont sugar coat it at all. when i first joined i didnt know anyone and no one knew me.. but you steped up from the other SIDE OF THE COUNTRY!! and gave me your # and call me or i called you at all hours of the nite to walk me threw things and help me learn these trucks.. youve been in the top 3 most helpful guys on this forum so whatever this is all about is retarted

  17. well i finaly get it home.. so i cant start workin on it and try to get this thing on the ground heres a few more pics we got the hood done.. and i put the front 2 seats in just to see what it felt like.. and damn is this thing gonna be comfy...but damn i got alot to do.

  19. thanks alot.. whats all done to the motor.. thats kinda a long list.. but basicly a 383 quick fuel 950 carb ..Team G intake..port matched to a set pro top line 235cc 2.08 valve heads that i had ported and polished to and ended up flowin 324cc. a custom nitros cam srp pistons forged h beam rods and forged crank..and alil 275 fogger kit on top of it all for alil extra kick

  23. well guys i got my camaro fired up the other day.. and got the bright idea to swap out my msd 6al with a 2 step.. for a digital 7 plus that i had layin around.. well as luck would have it.. i dont have any spark anymore.. i check the basic's ive got 11.3 volts on the main power.. and on the smaller red wire.. i also pulled the the magnitic pickup goin to the dist.. and jumped it.. and nothing...im i supost to have any power at the coil.. i cant remeber.. i dont have anything there...also if anyone knows.. the LED comes on.. blinks 7 times and then goes out.. and also doesnt blink when i crank it over... any ideas.. sounds like its junk or what?
  24. well i dont know much about it yet..its not blown.. but its a stick and its a v8.. i thought they where all charged.. but i guess im wrong.. so its like an ls6 basicly? the only Vs ive seen run at the track where runnin like 13.8 to 14.2 which i though were charged.. so even a 150 shot wouldnt cut it.. and from what ive heard it doesnt hook.... so i dont think he could run me down sence i hook ever time with a 1.67 to 1.72 at the slowest.. i agree with the t/a it might be a better shot.. last time i was at the track i ran a t/a that was sprayin.. i dont know how much tho.. but he couldnt beat me.. but about 20ft past the 1/4 line or so.. he went fly by every time.. he was mph me every time like 115 i belive
