Well I got it in the mail today. Took me about 10 minutes to install it. They shorted me what they call a "jam nut" so I had to get one of them before I could install it. Now when I open it I can just let go of the tailgate and it goes down nice and easy and no increased effort is required to close it. I give it a
rating.
Here's a couple of pic's of it installed:

in General SS
I know we discussed this when we all were getting the 03's, but I don't know if anyone actually tried it. Some have had them powder coated.

From the owners manual:
Temperature and Compass Display
Press the on/off button, located to the far left, briefly to
turn the comp/temp display on or off.
If the display reads CAL, you will need to calibrate the
compass. For more information on calibration, see below.
To adjust between Fahrenheit and Celsius do the
following:
1. Press and hold the on/off button for approximately
2. Press the button again to change the displayt o the
four seconds until either a flashing OF, or "C appears.
desired unit of measurement. After approximately
four seconds of inactivity, the new unit will be locked
in and the compass/temperature display will return,

i think the coolest sop car around here are the camaros with the ls1! now that is what i would drive if i were a piggy! "IF"
Oink Oink too that!!!!
Yeah ... Rumor has it that the Crown Vic is going bye bye. I don't know what Ford will replace it with.
The impala's do have more "Leg Room" than the Vic. I believe it to be the Cage that they put in. The vic's cage was only about 6-8" from the rear seat, due to the seat position. The Impala's have about 12-14", and it seems that they are made out of thinner metal than the old school vic cages.
I received a letter from Ford a few months ago that addressed the speculation of the demise of the CV, here is a clip from that letter.
"Since the "Way Forward" announcement, we recognize there has been extensive speculation regarding the future of many Ford products, including the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The purpose of this letter is to clarify Ford's position on CVPI and ensure you have accurate information. The bottom line:
• Ford Motor Company is committed to the law enforcement community.
• Ford Motor Company will continue to produce the CVPI well into the future."
The letter is on their website too.
Looks like the CV is still with us for at least another year since they have the 07's on their website.

Shhhhhh....I think he wants to know if they are OEM, I wonder if "Genuine GM" is OEM.

Us Old Farts are slow! Been here since May 4, 2003 and still don't have 1K!
-
I have an '03 SSS with 30K on the odometer and no vibration here, smooth as glass.
-
can it be used with any hitch?? i think it would be cool to be able to use that with a weight distibuting hitch!
I don't see why not, this is all that is left when you remove the V plate after you've hooked up the trailer.
-
hey hey , that actually is my g/f!!
Damn, nice truck, hot g/f, you cali boys have everything!

i like mine alot, im going to be dithing the bumper grills soon for a nice surprise sometime. but it wont be ready until early november!
Is that because of finances or is that the earliest they can get to them?
it should be early october actually btu i called them and they said the process takes 8 weeks an never happens any faster
not to mention the coin im forking out for them to do it. they better be tits when they get back or im going to
. i have alot of little things that seem like they never get finished!
For now I'm just going to send them the outer vent grilles and the center grille, haven't decided if I'm going to do the ducts themselves. Probably won't put them in till spring if it takes them that long.
-
Ok, it took me awhile to figure out which bumpers you were talking about, I didn't see the trucks for A LONG TIME!

so you waited 2yrs to finally tell us about it!!!!! Good stuff anyways
guilty as charged!

I am amazed that I had not seen this before. This is an awesome invention!!!
Got 1 question, does it affect the trailers turning radius?
No it doesn't affect the turning radius at all, the only thing left on the hitch is the bracket that holds the V shaped plate. Here is how it is installed: EZ-HITCH Install
And if I remember correctly it only cost about $40.
Which is way cheaper than a SS bumper cover!

Looks interesting, it has been a while since mopar vehicles have been used on the force.
And the last ones they built were real pieces of S***! Dodge Diplomat's & Plymouth Fury's just didn't cut it. Now go back a few years to the late 60's early 70's and they had some HOT cars, Polara's, Fury's with the 400's & 440's would really get down the road!
-
its kinda ugly but i've heard that they work well
Once you have the trailer hooked up, the V piece is removed, it doesn't stay on the hitch while towing.
-
When I first got the SS I dinged my bumper with the tongue of my boat trailer a couple of times because I have to hitch it up by myself.
I saw the EZ-HITCH while shopping with the wife and told her I sure would like one. Year before last I got it for x-mas and I can't believe how easy it is to hitch up the boat now. No more worrying about ramming the tongue into the bumper! Here is a pic of it:

You looking for a local shop to do one or are you looking for a mail order tune? I went with a mail order tune from pcmforless.com and am very happy with it, plus he's a supporting vendor.

I put ours into service about a month ago. It's got the "Hemi"!
We have
just under 4k on it and one officer said the brakes are pulsing (out of round rotors)
on it already. I'll be taking it in to have it checked on Tuesday. I haven't driven it
much, just to and from our local equipment installers but it seems pretty "peppy".
We only bought one because we want to see how they hold up and how the guys
like them. Here's a pic of ours:

They're keepers!
-
Now the big question is; How much will they butcher the production model?
