  1. Ok, she's back home. I took her for a drive yesterday, and I'm happy to say she's as good as new. No more roof antennas, and back to the stock hood, but the work looks very nice. Will try to post pics soon.
  2. Nice looking trucks!!! how are you planning to convert the front to 5 lug for the skinnies? spacers or hub conversion?
  3. So, the antennas on the roof are officially gone. I didn't like the XM, and the onstar never worked. I also didn't like the holes in the roof for the antenna, so they got shaved off. There are still a few things the shop is finishing up, but I should have her back in a few days. Bad news, the cowl hood is beyond repair, and the body work ate up my extra cash. So, I'll be back to rocking the stock hood until I can afford a new one. Not that big of a deal. Pics to come.
  4. ok, been in the body shop about a week. He's already pulled out most of the dents, has a bit more work to do before the booth. Damage estimate (insurance) 5100 and change. I still plan on posting pics, just really busy right now.
  5. what about a driver's front fender? condition? Price? Thanks
  6. Well, storms damaged the SS. Got a tree limb down on the roof. Roof dented, windshield smashed, fender wrinkled, hood wrinkled, knocked of one of the roof antennas (xm, I think), even knocked the dome light loose. I kinda wanna throw up right now... I'll post pics when I can.
  7. Mine too, and that makes me want to be sick... then wash my truck...
  8. got the calipers in, bled the system. Everything's rolling ok.
  9. Got the new calipers this morning. Installation was a breeze. Once they were bled, everything worked just fine. Now I know.
  10. that's exactly what I'm thinking. Calipers are on order.
  11. JC, I am "pretty" sure I have the right ones, but have no idea how thick the stockers were. My dad (the original owner) said these looked the same, and had the proper bevels and such. this is from the other thread: I believe my problem is 2 sticking calipers, funny as that sounds. The truck had 135k miles and ALL of the original brakes. The pads could have made it a little longer, but that sounds about right from what I hear. I didn't really notice before, but the piston seems to bind up a bit when pushing it back past about 3/4 of the way on one side, and a little more on the other. I tried to drive it a bit(a mile or so) and see if it would break free, and they did, but at odd times. I think I'm going to try new calipers whenever I can afford to. I'm tapped for now.
  12. by slides, do you mean the long, greased bolts? No, the single-pots only have 2 bolts. the fronts had that. or did you mean the metal backing plates? I used new plates. 13. Update: Swapped back to factory pads, but not sure which side was which (of the truck, not piston/other side) Now only 1 side is dragging once the brakes are pumped. passenger side is still dragging. Oh, also, this is on my DD 03 silverado v6 with single pot rear calipers, if that changes anything
  14. I also posted this in brake tech, but I need to get this done and don't seem to be getting any traffic. I needed to adjust the parking brake and the rear pads were a little thin, so I decided to do a complete brake job. Front pads went in fine, and everything seemed fine in the rear to the point I tried to drive test them in my driveway. When I pumped the brakes to re-engage the pistons, the rear pads wouldn't disengage. I have pulled them apart 3 times, the piston compresses just fine. I think the parking brake is ok, but am about to try the factory pads again to see if maybe the parking brake is too tight. I don't see what the problem is other than that. this is on my DD 03 silverado v6 with single pot rear calipers, if that changes anything Update: Swapped back to factory pads, but not sure which side was which (of the truck, not piston/other side) Now only 1 side is dragging once the brakes are pumped. passenger side is still dragging.

  17. I could have sworn I saw one of these posters with a blue SS. Anyone know where I could get one of those? I didn't mean to hijack, sorry.
  18. It's a nice looking bike, and you got what you wanted. I say you came out just fine.
  19. Looks great. How's the ride? What size rims/tires are those? And do the tires rub @ full lock? Thanks, -Tim
