  1. Thanks Mr. P. I'll have to monitor more closely. I havent driven her in a week so I have no hard evidence of what the actual higher temps were. I only know that I have noticed them creep when I'm in stop and go traffic and the heat creeps into the 80's here in Chicagoland. I can say that I'm going to be towing a trailor and 2 bikes more regularly now that I have my hitch. I want to be sure that I'm not going to be overheating the tranny and possibly paying for one in the future. If I can spend 200$ now to save me 2500$ later then I'm all for it. Since I'm going to be towing then would you suggest a larger cooler? Also since I live in/near Chicago (and it's cold winter's) should i purchase a cooler w/a bypass? Forgive me for beating you up but what exactly does the bypass do?
  2. Thansk for the info. Very Much appreciated. Looks like a tranny cooler will be in the works for me soon.
  3. can you post a pic of how you mounted them without cutting the ducts?
  4. I don't mean to hijack this post but its gotten me thinking. I've noticed my tranny temps rise recently as well with no load. I'm running bone stock. I havent paid attention to exactly how high the temps have gotten in stop and go traffic but I know it hasnt been above 200. Is it a good idea to do a larger trans cooler even on stock trucks? It's not my DD but I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing by my truck.
  5. This is my wife and I at one of my gigs about a year ago. She's a lot more pregnant now!
  6. I'll see what I can find. Thanks again bro.
  7. I purchased the hitch from another member of this site not from GM. Hence no harness. I know that I'll need to purchase the harness for the trailer lights. It's my understanding though that this trailer light harness will plug into a module on the main wiring harness for the truck. Is that correct or am I way off base here?
  8. I'll look for it tonight. Even though my VIN says I dont have the tow package the loom should still be there? That seems strange to me.
  9. That's the thing I dont see any of the previous wiring for the hitch. R u speaking of a round plug on the module near the spare tire?
  10. Depending on where it is in IL I'm game as well. I cant travel far because my wife will be 8 months prego then. I am down though.
  11. I have an '05 SSS and I've recently added an OEM hitch. I initially thought my truck came with the tow package. According to my VIN it did not. Here's where my confusion lies. I do have the tow button on my gear selector and it does function but I do not have the wiring for the hitch. I am looking to add the oem wiring harness for the hitch but I am not sure where it connects. I know there is a module near the spare tire. Does anyone know if/where the OEM wiring loom connects to this module for the hitch?
  12. What are you asking for it?
  13. I just wanted to add that I know how you feel too bro. I have had many similar scenarios when I was 16/17 as well. I had a 78' malibu I was restoring and went for a little test cruise to (I'll be honest) show off. I was driving down the main strip with no hood (which was totally legal at the time in my state). You couldn't help but notice all the chrome and a high rise intake and the holley blairing from the engine compartment. Needless to say it didnt take long for a cop to pull me over and swear I was doing 150mph everywhere I went. I was cordial and complied with everything he asked and fortunately he let me go (even though he was a d@#k the whole time). I asked him nicely to show me the radar (this was before camera's in police vehicles in my area) and he couldn't. I got let off easy. It sucks that you didn't. Follow Mr P's advice and you should be ok. Be as professional and respectful as you can in court and things should turn out ok for you.
  14. First things first...NEVER call an officer a dumbass and NEVER argue with them....second thing....GET A LAWYER! If he didn't read you your rights then he's wrong and it will probably get thrown out of court. If the cop shows to court and cannot prove it was you either via a ticket for speeding/racing or through video then he's wrong again. Get a lawyer to fight it definately. Of course this is all assuming you indeed werent racing at anytime during the night/week. If you were street racing...well to each there own. Next time keep it on the track if you were.
  15. Here's the links to both trucks if anyone is interested in helping this young man out. http://www.jerryhaggertychevrolet.com/vehi...CEK19N151242537 Silver Birch w/Whipple http://www.jerryhaggertychevrolet.com/vehi...CEC19N561135196 red '06 If you ask me (which ur not...directly) its a bad idea to buy any used vehicle with a pre-existing supercharger. Then again that's just me. You never know who owned it before you and how they treated it. Also who knows what AHole at the stealership is romping around town in it either. The red '06 seems to be a clean truck. I'd run a check on the VIN of both trucks and see what comes up. Take this all with a grain of salt my friend. Good luck with your purchase. I hope you find the truck of your dreams. edit: I'd have to remove a bunch of the crap that's on that '06...those steps are ugly, and the wood grain has to go.
  16. Definately not! hahahaha! Just kidding! A veteran is a veteran my friend. No matter what way you slice it.
  17. OK not sure if any of you fellas are into MMA and the UFC, particularly TUF reality show but I have to know. When will the Browning brothers saga end?! IMHO these 2 kids should never fight on the main stage of any promotion with the way they conduct themselves. I wouldn't care if they were the best fighters to ever grace the octogan, they still act like fools and should not step foot in a cage! Maybe its just my upbringing but my parents always told me to conduct myself and others with RESPECT! Something both these kids lack! They do not represent themselves nor the sport of MMA in a positive way. For that matter, IMHO they dont represent MMA as a sport at all. I wish the UFC would get back to the roots of MMA and focus on the art and craftsmenship of fighting and stop trying to make a few bucks with continuous clown-like antics with these kids. Sorry for the rant but I needed to put that out there! I'll take 10 kids who dont have an ounce of fighting talent but has the heart of an elephant and the respect of themselves and others before I'll take either of these Browning boys (or any other disrespectful fighter).
  18. You didn't give an option for Veterans..wtf?! 8 years active duty Army, been out since 2005.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koDUdvTaBlU...feature=related Can someone explain to me how this happens? I'm baffled!
  20. Wow...the first car that I actually owned, cherished. and kept for more than a few months was a '76 Nova with a 400 in it. Loved that car! It met the dolly legs of an 18 wheeler going about 110. That was not a good day! First car period was a '66 Barracuda with a 225 in it! It looked like a space shuttle and drove like one too! First car I bought myself and turned a profit on was a '67 cougar with a 289. Loved that car, it was fun!
  21. This is a great thread! here's my contribution: I was 16 and was in the process of rebuilding my '76 Nova. I purchased a cheap set of American Racing wheels and and new lugs and decided I would bolt them on to see how they sit. I'm fairly mechanically inclined so this should be no problem. I remove the stockers put the new tires on with the new lugs. No problems, I decide to take it for a spin to the local cruise spot. My drive starts out great, no rubbing or vibration, smooth as silk. As I'm coming off the interstate slowing from 65mph in the middle of a half oakleaf ramp I see a tire wiz past my driver side door. I think "HOLY S!@T SOMEONE JUST LOST A WHEEL!" No sooner than this thought runs through my head "BAM...ccchhhhrrrkkkkk!" My driver side rear drum crashes to the ground and grinds me to a halt! I get out to find that the tire I saw...yea that was mine! After looking closer I find that 4 or the 5 studs are sheared off! I look at my other wheels to find that they are showing signs of stress too. Moral of the story....be sure you buy the right diameter lugs for your wheels! Not my proudest moment but what can you do!
  22. I'm with Danny...check the VATs. Same thing happened to my mom's pontiac.
