  1. Comp cams grinds a lot of performace shops cams too...Texas Speed to name one.
  2. I voted for you though I imagine I know a couple other trucks on that list as well. I know for a fact I've seen at least one version of Big Nasty run and that's a BMF. I'm also sure another one of those was built by a guy that went to school with me.
  3. Yeah 1.83 and AWD but it was only a week old and was much tighter than it is now. I haven't been to the track since but I'm hoping to get back there soon. I wouldn't say dropping .25 in the 60' is too shabby considering it's an 11" stall for less than $400. The air was also less than perfect that night and my corrected 60' was 1.79 and my corrected 1/4 mile was 13.75 but it doesn't count until you do it...
  4. I'd look into rebuilding what you already have. I would also go with as little machining as possible. You can make a 404 stroker with just .01" hone. Stroker kit with just about any piston you want will be under $3k with machine work. A nice cam like a Torquer V2 would be great for pulling behind a 404 and still be plenty powerful. Send those heads to TEA for some porting and you should be well over your goal and still under $6k.
  5. Buy that program HPT sells that teaches you how to tune. I heard it is very handy...I can't wait to get it myself.
  6. I'm running the 278mm stall and love it. Mine is a 3200 and then some...I can brake stall over 3k and it flashes to 3700. 1400rpm drop between shifts and I can still tow my bass boat without any trouble. It's been in for a while now with no problems. I've cut 1.83 60' with it too...I doubt there is anything better for under $700.
  7. I would go with a 402 or 404 stroker and keep as much bore thickness as possible. 402 will require no machine work on the bores and 404 will only need a hone (.010).
  8. I don't have much trouble breaking all 4 loose and I'm not nearly as fast as some of these guys. When I was at the track I just pulled through the traps and stood on the throttle like a 2wd and she would light up all 4 (really only does 3). The guys in the box got a kick out of me for some reason.
  9. I bet that truck started off life as an older body style and he had so much money tied up in it he couldn't sell it. Time came to update the body style so he probably body swapped to that '08 and redid the interior and snowballed it.
  10. Man that is sad to hear. What about picking up another brand? Sell for someone else and steal away GM sales. I wish someone would buy GM and run it better...same with out government.
  11. Honestly I would sell all your superchargers and build a good 11:1 NA 404 stroker. With the extra money you will have from selling the superchargers you can build a 650hp NA beast. Ported Trick Flow 225cc heads, 24x/24x 61x/61x cam, Fast 102...

    Imports

Those SRT4s and turbo Cobalts can hurt some feelings...I wouldn't pick a fight unless I knew what I was up against.
  13. Seriously I had to stop watching...I was laughing my ass off here at work.

    Gt500

I was meeting my wife to eat friday after work and pulled up to a light and hear something revving up and look to my left and there is a GT500. I gave him a return rev and he must have crapped his pants because when the light turned green he rolled back and lit them up while I put a good 5 trucks on him instantly. I let out right after I ripped off the line and this jerk nearly hit my truck when he came spinning up beside me. I know he had potential but with a crappy driver a GT500 can be reduced to 14 second times...like this guy. I bet he felt like a royal idiot because he had a girl with him and after he passed me he decided not to mess with me again. This truck can put some faster vehicles to shame on street tires from a dig.
  15. I bought it direct from Circle D. Just go over to performancetrucks.net and find the Circle D rep there and tell him what you want. I can't tell you what I paid for mine but they're cheaper than they show on the site when going through PT.net. Yes I ran 13.82 at the track with the mods in my sig. I'm a fat arse too and my fastest time before the headers and stall was 14.50. My cousin is a light weight and ran 14.30 the same night in my truck. The DA the night of my 13.82 was +609 which isn't great but isn't extremely terrible. Hopefully with some 16" rims and a lighter driver I can beat the 13.59 that currently holds the bolt ons record.
  16. Towing 8klbs I would go with a DMAX...with nothing but a tune it will be faster than a fully bolted SSS too.
  17. Just a heads up I'm running the 278mm Circle D converter and have no complaints at all.
  18. If I had the choice I'd go with the '05 AWD. It's already been mentioned but it was the only AWD with stock E-fans and the motor had a little bit stronger bottom end. I love mine.
  19. I saw a blacked out SS the other day and I had to drool. Normally I don't like the murdered out thing but on that car is it HOT!!
  20. I have the Hooker Maxflow muffler on my truck and it sound very nice to me. It's deep and not raspy at all until you punch it. I have ARH lts, catless dual 3" Y'd into single 4" and into a single 4" Maxflow then dumped right out of the muffler. You would think it would be super loud and raspy but it's not at all. Very quiet at idle...just a deep THUMP THUMP THUMP. I can't wait to hear it with a cam.
  21. Well scratch that. None of the warhouses had them in stock so I ended up with the Monroe Reflex shocks. I really like the ride quality with them. Also the Hankook Ventus AS RH07 tires are really nice for our trucks.
  22. I'm running the Circle D 3200 rpm budget stall (278mm $375 shipped) and it's been excellent for me. I'm cutting 1.83 60' with just bolt ons and a stall.
  23. Finally got to use my AWD this year in the snow/ice and it was beyond great. My dad, my brother and my father in-law have 4x4s and none of them could hold a candle to my SSS. My dad has an F-250 crewcab diesel 4x4, my brother has an F-250 extended cab 5.4 4x4 and an F-250 crewcab diesel 2wd and my father in-law has a dodge newer body style with a 5.9 (pre hemi) 4x4. The SSS blew them away in the snow/ice and my tires are in need of replacing too. HAHAHA!
  24. I'm going with the Edelbrock IAS shocks. I just ordered the whole set from Bumper to Bumper for $275.46. That was as cheap as the Bilstein and Monroe Reflex shocks.
