  1. About what it took me. Good to have a 2nd to set that thing on there. Not super heavy, but can be cumbersome all in all trying not to mess up the intake runner gaskets.
  2. But you never tried his recommendation.....so you never know.
  3. I wouldn't stray from one of the best if not, the best, cam guy in the business. Good luck on the emission legal thing. I would guess a FI 408, or NA for that matter, sitting at idle would have some serious difficulty idling where it would pass emissions. I wouldn't want to be the guy trying to get that tune dialed in. A large cam would just make it that more harder. Assuming it is with a sniffer. I could be wrong. Not even sure of all of the parameters they check.
  4. Must be nice living that close to water. Wish I did, but then again I would probably spend way too much time on it if that were so. I had 3 different hitches to choose from from previous trucks and still ended up buying yet another to get it where it rode right. My boat actually rides better with the tongue end being just a tad higher than level. About an inch. Be surprised how much difference one inch can make.
  5. Tom - does your truck bounce a lot when you go over bumps? Seems like it would. Your trailer has a serious lean to the front. That will make it bounce really bad. I have experimented with the level-ness of my trailer quite a bit and the ride differences.
  6. ...that's funny.....think my truck has had it's fair share of those, lol.
  7. Your truck didn't come with a trans gauge? Looking for a different type?
  8. Do you have a way to monitor your fp just to rule that out? Maybe your ltrims?
  9. Interesting reading. Never heard of any of that other than possible spill from it. Maybe the GM trucks are not as susceptible to some of the failures referred to. I only say that because I do it every time without fail on this and my last 3 and never had anything go wrong. Every other vehicle my wife has owned (5 in 7rs), it won't let you go too far at all beyond the stop point.
  10. Did you notice an increased amout of dirt/debris in the box after doing that Ben? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No more than usual. I even have a tube going to the lower opening.
  11. Just how does the truck know you've done that? Sounds like something a salesman would say. First I have heard something like that and have been doing what I posted for 4 trucks now.
  12. How do you bust a hard line? What were you doing to bust it?
  13. I cut mine in this and the last truck. They did the same thing in a Sport Truck magazine a few years back and gained nearly 5 hp. For five minutes of work, it's worth it. Cut it neatly and depending on the intake you use, you may never even see it.
  14. If you guys want to fix that problem with not getting that good of mileage from babying it and getting better when you're flooring it all the time - stroke it. You'll definitely get the better mileage taking it easy.
  15. Have you hooked up your laptop using EFILive yet? If you have already connected using it, it will have the data saved from the file, or PCM info. If you have already done that, start the program, hit the little blue car icon on your navigation bar. This brings up the calibration window, but it will have nothing there if you have never downloaded your current tune or connected to your PCM. If you have EFILive Scan and Tune already why not pick a tuner that uses the same program as you to give you the ability to upload changes as he sends them to you?
  16. You understand right. It will override the gov and change shift points if that is what you ask them to do. I guess most do that much automatically, just not 100% sure.
  17. The tb by-pass is worth 1-2hp. I like your other choices - intake and PCM I guess you could go more, but she will feel a heck of a diff just from those.
  18. Was it a diff in city vs highway driving for your tests? Personally I wouldn't trust your DIC. Figure mileage at the pump with how much it takes to fill it - the most accurate way. I fill my tank until it is just short of overflowing - that way it is filled to same point every time. Without that you can't get accurate figures. If you want to know how your driving habits are affecting your mpg, watch the instantaneous mpg.
  19. Have you hooked up EFILive to your truck yet? Once you have a tune in there it writes the id. I see my id as soon as I log into the tune portion of EFILive. It's there along with your VIN, OSid, etc..
  20. Neither does the person that told you that crap. Tell him to come on here and get educated - otherwise he should STFU about things he obviously knows very little about. Sorry if he is a friend of yours. I think you mean bore out .030". That would give you a 4.030" bore size. Stock is 4.00". A balanced Eagle stroker rotating assy can be had for $2000, but it is the other costs associated that will take you well beyond what you say your spending limit is. You would have a 408ci motor also, if that is the pieces you got.
  21. I like clean engines. I wipe mine down every time I wash.
  22. Sorry to hear. Losing friends and loved ones is never easy.
  23. That would be on the pressurized side. You can place your wb O2 after your turbo. You would just need to have an O2 bung cut in the pipe and leave your stock O2s where they were, if that has been the hole you were using. Plus, I don't think it's a good idea to remove the stock O2 from in front of the cats, if that is what you have been doing. The front O2s are pretty important to leave in place. The stock cats don't really have anything to do with that.
