Here's a link to the one I got. (Not sure about the "Primed" claim. It looks like bare plastic to me.) It will take some filling to match the finish of my OEM part. It does look like an OEM part.

Wow! Thanks for the link (Just added it to my watch list). Yes I would agree it looks to be bare plastic, I need to find a good paint guy in San Diego. One of my employees backed her Beetle into my SSS, bent the rear bumper brackets and chipped/ spiderweb-ed the paint. I need to order a new bumper cover and brackets as well.

  2. Are you me? Because I'm in the exact same situation right now..

I think I want a dumped dual exhaust setup, because I just think they just look cool honestly lol. I am in California as well, so I'm facing the same restrictions, and I know I couldn't get a "true dual exhaust". Also, on the topic of smog checks, does anyone know of a shop that would be a little flexible..?

My recommendation would be Corsa or a replacement muffler with a custom dump before or after the axle. This way you can stay Cali smog legal. In regards to your second question, that is illegal and I don't believe anyone will post information pertaining to "flexible" shops.

What does best exhaust setup mean? Are you looking for best performance or sound? And what do you mean by change the sound of your exhaust? You want it to louder, or just different? You could put some whistle tips on it... that would change it a bit.

X2 on "You could put some whistle tips on it... that would change it a bit."

  3. Whats your budget? Any future plans that would require long tubes or cat-less. There are TONS of exhaust options (Legal and illegal). I would take some time and snoop around the the Engine Technical - Bolt On Performance Section and see what fits your needs best.

  4. Hello Everyone,

This is my first post other than saying hello in the new member forum, so be gentle! I have searched for an answer to my question in past posts, but had no luck.

I put a new CAI on my 2003 SS. For now, because I have so many other things to take care of, I used the generic eBay CAI and a universal K&N filter. My truck runs great and sounds great, but the engine light is on. I pulled the AirFlow whatever-it-is off of the stock airbox and installed in with the new set up. Is that a necessity? Should I have used it? Is it normal for the light to come on? Enquiring minds want to know!

    Thanks for your help,

    Dan

Are you able to post a few pictures, and possibly find out what the exact codes are with a scan tool. Glad to help, just need a bit more info.
