  1. qoute from exracer top post page 2 "p.s. I'm gonna go flip a cig by ur truck, and wait for that NOS leak to go KABOOOOM!!!" WTF?? since when does "NOS" burn? ricers think nitrous is flammable because of the green eclipse in the first FNF movie when it gets shot up. nitrous will not burn with out some type of fuel since it is an oxidizer not a fuel!
  2. we have a 40" samsung LCD and we love it blue ray dvd's + PS3+ HDMI = kick ass pic. i have had a bunch of samsung cell phons and yet to have one mess up on me yet so i would be safe to say samsung is a pretty good brand!!
  3. Sweet thats what I was wanting to hear. sounds like besides a shift kit I should not have to worry about the drive line for a while. For now all I plan on doing is a shift kit so I can get rid of the crutch GM calls TM and a CAI. Very later down the road I plan on a turbo but that wont be at least for a year or more.
  4. lol same post to and from same person different forum but thanks again!
  5. ok so let me try this again what drivetrain mods do I need to be able to run say mid 12's? can I get away with just a shift kit or do I need other hardened parts in the trans? How about the front axle and CV axles how strong are they?
  6. yes i know their is a CAI sticky but its from 2008 and their are now quite a few more CAI's out there than what was tested. i was just looking on summit and found this and was wondering what yal think about it? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VRM-VR-6/ here is a pic of it installed im guessing the filter goes inside of the "can" that goes onto your stock intake tube? also does anyone have any EXP with the Spectre CAI kit? it looks a lot like the AEM unit for about half tee price and my local pep-boys has it on the shelf for the $139 price tag im pretty tempted to try it.
  7. From what I've been hearing the drive train in the SSS's seems to be pretty stout. With the exception of a shift kit to help the durability of the trans how much power will the stock axles/t-case take before I have to start adding beef? I think I've read on here about guys pulling 1.6 60 foot times on stock (I think) stuff? Then what ties can I look for in the 1/4 to need what mods? What drive train mods do I need to get into the 12's or into the 11's...? A shift kit is sorta a given for even a stock SSS that sees any track time but what else do I need? I would rather build it now than break it and be stuck with out a truck to drive.
  8. Were the rotors lathed before they were put on? If not some rotors have a anti rust coating on them so they wont rust in the box and look bad some times it can be taken off with brake clean some times it has to be cut off. Sometimes if they have that coating it will get in the pad and cause a squeak. Grind or file a taper on the ends of the pad I have done this to a few cars and fixed quite a few brake squeaks. it will reduce the pad to rotor surface a little bit but not enough to cause stopping probs. Only grind the taper on the short sides of the pads. It sounds like a very red neck fix but if you have tried everything else its worth a try right? might also try a cheap high dust set of pads the softer compound might stop the squeak.
  9. may i add this. My local hot rod shop has a set of taylor plug wires on the wall with ceramic boots on them i asked him what they were for he said they were made for R/V's that make a lot of heat under the "hood". I then saw this thread and got to doing a little research and found this. I'm sure they dont make a set for a SSS but they can be shortened and new ends put on the coil side for guys that need a good set of high temp wires.
  10. not a mopar guy but the one they have with the mopar "M" in all the gauges looks pretty bad arse!
  11. Does anyone have a file from a SSS that they can up load so I can play with it in the EFI live demo mode? I would prefer a stock ish 03 SSS file but anything with the same tables would work. I'm not trying to steel anyones secret tune for my truck I'm just looking for something that I can play with and look at in demo mode. If your worried about something leaking out you can PM it to me or e-mail it Thanks!
  12. went back to the track last night with out my spair and tail gate and a free K&N drop in. times got as low as a 9.2 after letting the truck set for a while with the hood open and cool off pretty well. the others ranged from 9.394 - 9.470 i assume this new best time is due 90% to the loss of weight I took the air filter out for a few runs just to see if it would make any difference and it did not see any.
  13. If i had the money i would put optima's in everything i have. My G/F's car came with a yellow top that she got over a year ago and we have had no probs with it. My SSS came with a red top and ive only had it for about 2 months now its doing fine. IMO Optima FTW!!
  14. congrats on the buy thats my fave body for the vette. I've always wanted they body vette with a mild LS1 in it IMHO the LT1's suck the opti-spark is garbage.
  15. not all napa stores can do it some napa stores can also turn brake rotors and drums but most cannot.
  16. Well im not really worried about tuning the bonneville with the program I get because I already have a tuner for her car my main concern right now is tuning my truck. chpspecial can I ask why you prefer EFI live over the other choices out there?
  17. its a 2000 bonneville SSEi with the 3.8L supercharged L67 V6. mods are 3.3" modular pulley, stainless headers, 3" catless exhaust going to 2 2.5" flowmasters, LS1 MAF and soon to have a LS1 throttle body. The trans just went out in it as as soon as our taxs come back it will get a built trans with 300M input shaft, chrome moly pump shaft, hardened 4th clutch shaft , and a 3.29 ratio 7/8th" chain gear set. then if we have any money left over it will get a set of 245/50R16 Nitto 555R's and the fun will begin!! Now that you know all about the bonneville can anybody give me advice on a tuner program for my truck????
  18. that looks sick where did you get it and how much? Is that a R/C truck body I see hanging on the wall in front of the truck?
  19. the paint im using i got at a hobby shop years ago and just never used it its #1639 sapphire blue. only prob is it comes in a small can and it has the sh*tty round spray nozzle so it does not lay down very smooth. I like the dupli-color paint because of the nice fan spray nozle and for small jobs you can get a professional paint job if you know what your doing. what hobby shop did you find the House Of Kolors paint at i might have to check it out.
  20. haven not messed with any muscle cars here but i love pissing off the sportster bike guys in my G/F's bonneville out of the 4 ive raced ive spanked 2 and the other 2 were about even. the look on their face when they cant get away from a 4 door V6 FWD grandma car is great.
  21. I've been looking at mufflers to replace my stock one on my 03 SSS. The stock exhaust seems to be pretty good with nice smooth bends but I just want a LITTLE more sound out of it. I don't want loud if I can help it I just want it to sound like i think a SS should so far its looking like I will go with the magnaflow 3" DI/DO with the 22" case. For tips I would like to have 3" ran back to the bumper and tucked up and turned down so that you don't see the tips. However none of the shops here have mandrel pipe benders so they might not be able to bend pipe that big to go over the axle if they cant do that I'll dump it before the axle. A few guys on fullsizechevy.com say to go with a 3"in and 2.5"out so keep some back pressure even though for now I will be keeping my stock cats. What do you think I don't want to buy a ready made exhaust system I dont have the cash right now for a full system. Another option is 2 3" mufflers setting side by side if I go this route I could keep it quieter with some super turbo mufflers. This would also help with drone because the mufflers would be setting up right instead of laying down flat. The truck is stock except for a K&N drop in. My plans are just to add a shift kit and a tune to get rid of the TM and leave it alone I plan on leaving this truck pretty mild.
  22. for the SSEi im using DHP it will only scan or tune GM 3.1, 3.4, and 3.8L motors.
  23. I have tuned my G/Fs bonneville with the 3.8L supercharged motor in it but the only V8 that ive tuned had a carb on it. So as far as V8 tuning goes i have no exp but tuning in general i have about a year with the V6 and have made some nice gains with it. Her MAF went out in it and i was able to tune the car and get it running until we were able to get a new MAF.
  24. I'm looking into getting a tuner set up for my truck and maybe a my G/F's bonneville with the 3800 supercharged motor in it. I already have a program to tune the 3800's but it only does 3.1 , 3.4 , and 3.8s. So I have done a little research into a few tuners and so far HPT seems to be the most complete. What do you have and how do you like it? So far all I have to tune would be my 03 SSS and the 00 SSEi the SSEi is not a must have but it would be nice to be able to tune both with one program so when we go to the track i only need 1 computer. I have DHP for her car and it only runs on windows XP so I have it loaded on my old slow computer that I only use for her car and it only works about 70% of the time. If anyone has one could you up load a SSS file so i can download a few demos and see what they are all about? it does not matter if its just a stock file or one that been tuned i just would like one to import and play with thanks!
