  1. Okay guys, thanks for "refreshing" my memory. -Jon
  2. Question? I'm going to be changing the spark plugs (for my mother) on my father's 2004 GMC Sierra C1500 V.H.O. It has the H.O. 6.0L, like the SS Silverado, & 110K on the clock. Seems like I read something in the past about adding anti-seize to the threads on the new spark plugs. I guess since the heads are aluminum?? Just thought I'd ask before my "project" begins this weekend. I'm removing the throttle body & cleaning it up good too. -Jon
  3. This is for all the grandmothers & grandfathers out there. Last week, I took my grandchildren to a restaurant. My six-year-old grand-son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!" Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark,"That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!" Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my grand-son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my grand-son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes." Naturally, I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal. My grand-son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Shove it up your butt you grouchy old witch! " Touches the heart doesn't it?
  4. A guy stopped at a local gas station and, after filling his tank, he paid the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola and watched a couple of men working along the roadside. One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind him and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the hole. The men worked right past the guy with the soft drink and went on down the road. "I can't stand this," said the man, tossing the can into a trash container and heading down the road toward the men. "Hold it, hold it," he said to the men. "Can you tell me what's going on here with all this digging and refilling?" "Well, we work for the government and we're just doing our job," one of the men said. "But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up. You're not accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the taxpayers' money?" "You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. "Normally there's three of us: Me, Elmer and Leroy. I dig the hole, Elmer sticks in the tree, and Leroy here puts the dirt back. Elmer's job's been cut... so now it's just me an' Leroy.
  5. Thanks Bob, and may your father be smiling up there alongside mine.... =)
  6. Thanks bro. Just talking about my father, etc seems almost "therapeutic" too....
  7. Thank you guys so much, it really means a lot
  8. Thanks for the kind words guys. I have be talking to God..... a lot. It is so wierd. About a month ago I found part of an old ring out in our backyard, I guess one of my 2 dogs had been digging & it just "landed" by our back door?? Today is the day we lay my fathers body to rest. I just went out to feed our 2 dogs in the backyard, and found a CROSS laying face up on a spot of dirt, no grass around, clear to see facing me as I walked between my girls new (Christmas) trampoline & our back door. Amazing!!! It is like I was supposed to find it!! I feel comforted, as I've lived at this same house since '95, had these same to dogs for almost 10 yrs, & now all the sudden these things start popping up. I'm going to keep this cross in my pocket today. Keep those prayers going guys. And if your in your SSS today, give her "a little throttle" for my dad. He left his '04 GMC VHO for my mother & she still has his '96 Impala SS they bought new... -Jon
  9. Thanks guys, & thanks Jason.
  10. This has to be the absolute WORST day of my life guys. My 74 yr old father, James, was taken from this earth too early in my opinion. He has had heart/blood pressure concerns for the last 9 yrs, but medications alone had helped keep it in check. My mother awoke to find him sitting in his favorite living room recliner Saturday AM. Almost no pulse & unresponsive. my mom was all alone & called 911 immediately. Just after the EMT's arrived my brother showed up to comfort my mom. I was at work & I was missing both my wife's & moms phone calls. Needless to say, by the time they all arrived at the hospital my pops was too far gone. I arrived at the ER maybe 30 minutes after they "pronounced him". It wa either a heart attack or blood clot they think. But it appears he went peacefully- thank God!! These last few days have been so hard. I have a 2 yr old & almost a 5 yr old to try and explain where their "poppy" went to. I tilt old my oldest yesterday- it was SO HARD. Anyways, I've been on here for a few years so I just wanted to vent/destress. My dad & I were so close. He taught me everything I know about cars/trucks & so much more. My dad could do almost anything, he was so smart, honest, caring- A kind of man that is rare these days (it seems). He did so much for so many people & never wanted anything back. My dad was a quiet guy, very reserved, & kept to himself. I just have strived to be HALF the man my father was the last 20 yrs if my life. I don't know how religious many if you guys are on here, but please if you do believe, pray for my entire family. My mother is taking this quite hard, they had only prepared a Will. Nothing else was planned.... Jon in TX.
  11. Are you adding SSS front cover, & needing the brake ducts??
  12. That's them!!! I'd never seen any with the rubber grip "inserts" added though. That's another option I guess...?
  13. Someone used to make billet aluminum step pad replacement inserts for these year stepsides. Might really "pop" against that silver paint??? Seems like I saw them last in the Stylin' Trucks Mag/website..... -Jon in TX.
  14. You did the old gal good!! I would of had to try and add the 1994-1999 Classic 3rd brake light/cargo lamp up on the roof. I just feel you can never have too much of the "red brake lights" at night on a nice ride.... Anyways, she looks fantastic. Looks like she has the Lt.Grey, Silverado, bucket seat interior??
  15. Looks like spray in bedliner material???
  16. A State Trooper was patrolling late at night off the main highway. At nearly midnight , he sees a couple in a car, in lovers' lane, with the interior light brightly glowing. He carefully approaches the car to get a closer look. Then he sees a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine. He immediately notices a young woman in the rear seat, filing her fingernails. Puzzled by this surprising situation, the trooper walks to the car and gently raps on the driver's window. The young man lowers his window. 'Uh, yes, Officer'? The trooper asks: 'What are you doing?' The young man says: 'Well, Officer, I'm reading a magazine.' Pointing towards the young woman in the back seat the trooper says: 'And, her, what is she doing?' The young man shrugs: 'Sir, I believe she's filing her fingernails.' Now, the trooper is totally confused. A young couple, alone, in a car, at night in a lover's lane and nothing obscene is happening! The trooper asks: 'What's your age, young man?' The young man says: 'I'm 22, sir.' The trooper asks: 'And her, what's her age?' The young man looks at his watch and replies: 'She'll be 18 in...... 11 minutes."
  17. GM states " ...a loss of 1 U.S. Quart between a 3,000 mile oil change interval is acceptable/normal..."
  18. 2005 was the 1st year for a "GM" sunroof in a truck. Sorry for the news.... Maybe you can find the sunroof manufactures name in the frame somewhere & google them?? G/L
  19. Many years ago on a long BOAC flight, an elderly lady asked if she could visit the cockpit. When she got up there, she found four crewmen. She asked the first what he did, and he explained that he was the Navigator and what his responsibilities were. She turned to next one and asked what he did. He explained that he was the Engineer and his job was to monitor and troubleshoot any system problems to keep the flight operating smoothly. She turned to the next one and asked what he did. He explained that as the Captain he was responsible for everything on the airplane and the functioning of the crew. She turned to the First Officer and asked "Well young man, what is your job?" He replied "Ma'am, I am the Captain's Sexual advisor." Somewhat shocked, she said "I beg your pardon, but what do you mean by that?" "Very simple Ma'am. The Captain has told me that when he wants my fu@king advice, he'll ask me!!"
  20. I'd replace BOTH knock sensors & the GM wiring harness, while your under that intake. Also, be sure and use dielectric grease on ALL the connections. The harness isn't too costly either- DO IT.
  21. "SSI" is simply the GM sales option code used on all the Dale E. package trucks. Just like "G80" is the limited slip rear diff sales option code. Dale E. SSS's still have the same engine "N" VIN code as a VHO, regular SSS, or VMax does.
  22. I didn't think it was too bad. I've def seen WORSE!! Just a few things to change to a stock look SSS. OE Wheels, stock engine covers, a new drivers seat outter bezel, etc.
  23. Who's rebuilding these trannys for you? Do they not come with a warranty? Ford remans have a pretty good warranty "time/mileage". Maybe you should go that route??
