  1. Awesome pics Travis! I miss the snow too. i was in Indiana for a few days in January and loved it. My Uncle's house is basically a big log cabin like the one you stayed it, it was gorgeous! Didn't have time for any fun though Why so sad to be back in Florida
  2. Where's the shop? I might do that. Depends on how the wife's feeling, she's getting her boobs done on Thursday so might have to stick around the house. I could always just bring the kids with me and let her rest
  3. I meant to make this my build thread, does it not go under builds?
  4. Got the shackles installed today! Before: After: stock shackles vs new ones:
  5. An LQ9 computer would have more aggressive tuning than a 5.3 but honestly it wouldn't be worth it, it'd be trying to supply fuel/timing for something with almost 40ci more and with higher compression, I doubt he'd be all that happy with it.I know everyone here uses Wheatley tuning and they are great from what I've heard (plus I love the lifetime reflashes), also there is Frost Tuning who can do a mail order tune cheap and he does awesome work as well. I say your friend looks into those options
  6. It's the TV cable that he is referring to for the trans. There's a cable that is connected on your carb, like your throttle, that dictates the line pressure inside the transmission. If the trans is working fine now and all your doing is swapping carbs, you should be able to just swap the bracket (depending on the style setup currently on the truck) that holds the cable over and not have to mess with anything. If you need to change brackets every autoparts store carries the brackets you'd need. Here's a pick of the cable: It's the lower cable attached to teh carb in this pic I'm with sinr on using an Edelbrock 600, for what your describing you want I think that would work best. All the Edelbrock's Ive used have been very user/maintenance friendly and rarely need looked at once installed. I love my Holley's but they are more for the tinkerer than the person who wants to set-it-and-forget-it.
  7. lol ya, that's for my daughter, she should be graduating to a big car seat like my son soon. It works so much better than my Camaro to haul kids
  8. Thought I'd post some pics of my truck. Forgive the dirt, it's been raining everyday this week just about Interior is super clean: Has a nice Pioneer head unit, all upgraded speakers and an MTX Thunderform sub/amp combo under the rear seat. Sounds really nice in the truck When the previous owner had the gauge recall fixed, he paid extra for the Silverado SS cluster So much more room for the kids now and to haul us around and all our crap Has the factory heavy duty towing package with extra trans cooler, 3.73 gears, high performance suspension package (quoting the window sticker lol) etc. I'm thinking about throwing some headers on it through the factory muffler to keep it quiet but have a cutout on it, I'm dropping the rear to level it out, new intake, thinking about a cam swap with a trailblazer converter and thinking about dropping this nitrous kit I have laying here in it for fun. Eventually it'll get a boosted 370 but for now just gonna play with it for a bit.

    Awd Or Rwd?

Ya if it's winter driven there's nothing like an AWD for any vehicle really, especially a light-in-the-ass pickup. I said 2wd because it sounded like you liked that more except for the paint lol
  10. As long as you like it that's what matters! And that's some awesome city MPG!! She looks good

    Awd Or Rwd?

Get a 2wd and paint it!!
  12. Looks like a standard regular cab longbed silverado to me with some emblems on it. That engine also looks to be the Goodwrench replacement engine. Also alot of the SS350's from what I understand were just rebadged sport's that dealers sold as special editions when they didn't have enough 454SS's or done by the owners themselves, they were all short beds and had red/black molding. That's a nice platform though for ya to start with!
  13. Are you a master of the dark arts Travis Thank ya sir!
  14. The factory tuning for the LQ9 is alot more aggressive as well
  15. just in case anyone can't easily access tuning, you could always wire them up with an aftermarket harness that uses a thermostat to turn them on/off.Might see about getting a set form you soon hottelss
  16. If you can't find any SS's and are interested in some VHO style 20's let me know.
  17. sucks you can't go but I always say everything happens for a reason. Maybe you would have puked your tcase or something. Good luck on the upcoming mods! I've got a few things headed my way soon as well.
  18. I've got Skillet's Awake CD in mine right now
  19. Happy B-Day everyone! My daughter turns 1 today, 2/5
  20. yup. Externally same year LQ4 and LQ9 would look identical sitting next to each other. And you hurt my feelings, calling me stupid, sniff sniff
  21. Explain? Both engines use roller lifters and non-roller tipped rocker arms. Both use the same heads, rockers, lifters, heads, even cams (99-00' LQ4 slightly different). The LQ9 has the higher compression pistons and stronger connecting rods compared to early LQ4's. Also the 99-00' 6.0's had a "longer" crankshaft that didn't require a spacer to run with a 4L80 trans, the 01'+ used a space between the rear face of the crankshaft and the flexplate to adapt to the 4L80E or sans spacer to bolt right up to a 60/65e trans. LQ9's have a floating pistons/rod combo where the LQ4 uses a press fit wrist pin.
  22. Yeah I guess we'll see. I saw this post earlier as well http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/1576-awd-transfer-case-how-it-works/ This makes me think it's still going to try and send power to the front
  23. lol, should I be scared or excited?
