  1. Have any of yall put lots of highway and DD miles on these converters? This is my DD/Work truck so I need durability. Thanks for the responses so far. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on something real soon.
  2. Thanks for the info, it helps to know. The guy at Finish Line Trans is pointing me to Yank converters.
  3. Like title says, has anyone used this brand? They have good prices and look to meet the specs I am looking for in my truck (3000-3500 rpm, 650 hp). I am wanting basically a bulletproof transmission after my last one fizzled out. Just wondering if anyone here has personally used this brand and how it performed, thanks in advance. Their reviews on other boards seem mostly positive. Can't find any of those typical posts blaming the specific part for a blow up, so that seems positive as well. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge here on the forum. TIA
  4. He didn't mention anything to me about shipping him a converter? He just got my check today so I will communicate with him more over the next week as he builds it. Thanks for the help so far yall. Looking forward to having a tranny with no doubt in my mind while I drive it. I had that false sense of security with my last one but there were warning signs I ignored...... *sigh*
  5. Got ahold of FLT thru email. I went with his level 5 4L65 build. Looking forward to it. BTW has anyone ever used a Roadrunner converter? They have good reviews, great price, seem legit. thought I should ask before purchasing.
  6. FLT doesnt ever answer the phone. I have been calling him since I posted last. Cant get ahold of the guy. Any other recommendations?
  7. Thanks yall, and their price looks good as well. I just hope I'm not downgrading a few of my good parts to go with their 4L60E street Strip Level 4. But somehow I doubt it. Thanks again yall.
  8. can anyone vouch for Performabuilt Transmissions? www.performabuilt.com ?
  9. Can yall recommend a website that has produced good 4L60s? I don't really know what else will bolt right up.
  10. My tranny is on the way out and I am wondering if the 4L60E is really even up for this job?? A little background if you will: My original tranny needed a re-do on my VHO after it had been hot dogged around for a while including nitrous and hard launches, all that. So I rebuilt it, a full rebuild, supposedly a "550hp" build, with all kinds of nice parts. One thing the builder did that I did not agree with was take out my 3000-3500 stall and put in a 2200 stall. He had his reasons. But soon after getting it back I noticed it would drop gears if I slammed the pedal to the floor and the tranny wasn't "ready" for that kind of load. It would just throw the gear and rev up to the rev limiter as though in neutral. So that just led me to believe all along that this thing needed a higher stall to keep it spun up at all times just in case I drop the hammer. Well so fast forward to last week and I am still overall satisfied with the performance of the transmission up until this point when I am driving west on I-10 in Texas and going up some rather steep hills with cruise control set at 80mph. The truck does some 4 to 3rd drops and even some 4th to second drops no problem but at some point going up hill it goes near WOT to go up this hill and boom! throws the gear out and spits a bunch of smoke and crap out the truck..... but 4th gear still goes fine so I thought it just slipped like before but no damage. WRONG. My 1st and 3rd gears are making a clicking noise like something hitting my Sonnax shell or something. I can still drive the truck but I mostly shift between 2nd and OD/4th I am looking at starting the rebuild process this week when I get my tires on my back up car but I am mainly wondering if this tranny is even the correct platform or if I should jump up to like a 4l65 or 4l80? I don't really know the differences except that the 80 is a designated truck transmission. Also if you know any places that offer a drop in transmission shipped ready for install that can meet these needs it would be greatly appreciated. I am not excited about using this local builder again but for expediency and his payment options, so I am definitely looking at some drop in replacements as long as the prices are agreeable. The other issue is that I think some of my parts are still good and I would hate to buy a whole new transmission when I might have some better parts in the one I am taking out. Thanks in advance for any input or advice.
  11. Looking for a solid transmission, something I can drop in behind my lq9 with no fuss. My 4l60e is on the way out. If you know of any good websites please let me know. Matt 432 212 9654 - TIA
  12. Well guys I'm out here on I-10 broke down with my family since my tranny slipped going up a hill and blew out a few gears. I'm 200 miles from home and i only have 2nd gear maybe 4th but I cannot get into it. My local builder is a putz obviously so instead of rebuilding I was just wondering if you guys could recommend a nice drop in replacement. My truck is an lq9 with the little rear end although I do have a tru trac in there now so its solid. Is the 4l80 a viable alternative? I'm just looking for something readily available, affordable, and dependable. I'm all ears!
  13. Here is my guess: The cam has such a lope that it loses vacuum between pulses or whatever so the motor is constantly running on low vacuum under light load. Same reason my brake booster warning is always on. Maybe the AC adds vacuum itself or like others said, the PCM compensates on its own. And furthermore, maybe its something in my tune explicitly compensating for the AC running. It's a Wheatley tune, fwiw. I think its within the realm of possibility that the running AC by itself gives the vacuum boost, and might not be directly PCM related. Unfortunately I am not as familiar with the details of this specific system; maybe this scenario is impossible.
  14. Hey y'all, my black trim piece that goes around the tailgate handle, 2 of the retaining clips are broke so it won't hold in place. Anyone have this part laying around? Maybe you went chrome or got rid of it? TIA- please email me or text me if you have the part 432 212 9654

  16. Is there anything like a vacuum can or vacuum booster I can install to retain or capture that vacuum even when the AC is off?
  17. Its one of the things I want as well, being in a hot climate. Hopefully some others can chime in on the best option.
  18. I always forget not everyone has a drag cam.
  19. Anyone else notice this? I'm not saying with it on full blast (maybe), but there is definitely a noticable improvement when its kicked on, even the lowest setting. I usually drive with only 1 or 2 bars of AC power and this definitely seems to add some weird stall/torque affect. Anyone else notice this? Makes me want to go back to my 3500 stall...
  20. No cats and no rear sensors. Only fronts. Custom tune.
