The whole time I was watching that vid, my eyes were glancing at this vid in the related column. But looks like Jimmie Johnson was pretty phased out after that.

That's a damn good looking 70 chevelle, even has the 454. Doesn't have the ls6 does it?
-
How's that? Just choose your brand.
-
Umm, but that's only 155342 miles. That's not much. Too early to retire it, IMO. There's a silverado around here with the 5.3l that has over 300,000 miles on it and still runs like a top. The owner doesn't treat it good either, he literally floors it everywhere.

Agreed, sounds like it's slipping and commanding higher pressure to remedy the problem. Is the transmission fluid changed out regularly? Is the fluid level perfect when hot?

M1 HM oils here. Or any other oil that meets acea a3. And Fram XG filter.........but before you start bashing you better read up here. It's essentially the same filter as an amsoil and a RP. Now, the orange frams are trash.

He is one calm guy, I give him that. "Oh I just cut my fingers off on my bike, I better snap some pics for the forum" That's crazy devotion.

I don't see why not, I don't think anything is really bcm specific. I kinda doubt the bcm is causing it not to start but who knows. Probably a good idea to take the bcm apart and clean it with fresh water to get all the contaminants off the circuit boards inside it.
-
Huh, well did the bcm or pcm go under water? More importantly, was it salt water? Do like CHP said and check and CLEAN every connector to make sure there's no contaminants interfering with function some how. Good luck with it, push come to shove, you'll have to replace the bcm and pcm. And if it got water in the engine like you say get ready to replace the knock sensors in the NEAR future, they hate water.

First thing I'd do is disconnect the battery for a while so it will forget all the shifting habits it's learned and then try it.
-
the injectors wouldn't pulse if it was a vats/ECM issue, I wouldn't think.
-
Well I know on mine you can't really hear it pulling down, but if you sit there and turn the key a couple times you can hear the regulator kick in and start returning some of the fuel to the tank. Sounds like a swishing type noise when it starts bypassing. Your pressure regulator may be not allowing any pressure to build up, that's why the only real to check is with a fuel pressure gauge. Since the nipple is after the regulator on these trucks.
-
left side of the intake manifold, it has a tiny vacuum line running to it. here's a pic.
-
It wouldn't be the first time a new fuel pump is bad, but definitely very rare. Probably a good idea to look at and inspect the regulator as well.
-
You say you've pressure tested the fuel rail? Keyed on and not trying to start 60 psi is probably on the higher side of the spec, but around that.
-
Does it start at all? Run for a minute? Also did you put the intake back on after you sprayed either in it, cause they don't like to run without air going thru the maf. If you think the cats are clogged you can pull the o2's, it'll run without those just really rich. I don't see clogged cats preventing it from starting though.

Yeah a test light on the injectors wires and crank the engine. You should get pulses of 12 volts.
-
Have you checked for fire(voltage) at the injectors?
-
The potholes made me laugh.
-
Ah that's a pretty nifty catch.
-
You had a photoshoot and didn't show off the free volant installed under the hood? You're shittin' right?
-
You can get that pulley at any old auto parts store, it's not hard to replace but you will have to lay on your back under the truck to replace it unless you have a lift. The belt itself it easy to take on and off just use a ratchet to de tension it then slip the belt on, much like the main belt, except minus the 15mm socket.

negative.... all trucks are vacuum except the HD. the only other vehicles to get hydro boost is the large SUV's. Cadillac and suburbans...
Huh, I don't know what to say to that one, because I'm looking at my 2001 owner's manual and it shows the engine bay of a 5.3l and it has hydraboost. Then it shows the v6 and it has vacuum. I'd be willing to take pics and show you even. Maybe it's a pic of a 6.0l instead and not the 5.3 like it says.
