I used Lucas semi-synthetic race fluid in the trans. SOLD 2) GM Multec II 43.5lb injectors, have about 1300 miles total. $250 shipped 3) GM stock 24lb. There are 4500 miles on the truck and the new motor and trans have maybe 1 mile, just for logging data for the tune.

That sucks, and I know that totally defeated feeling you probably have.. I have it everyday with my 408 also.. Only thing to do know is tear it down and see if you can salvage the block, and buy a new piston..

If the heads are not going to be ported, I think the cam that zippy suggested is a good one.. I think a general rule with LSx motors if if you have the valve springs to support it, is run a more lift. LSx motors respond well to the cams with higher lift numbers even if the durations are the same.
