  1. Wow...that's crazy. So did it get recovered out of town somewhere and you just took the insurance buyout on it? I'm totally confused. Richard
  2. I dig my black ISS but I have to say the silver birch does look good. More importantly she thinks it looks good, too! She's excited. It's going to take me some time to get all the details hammered out on it but it's really close, just I have so little free time. Richard
  3. '06 Silver Birch SS just arrived to keep my Intimidator SS company in the driveway. The new truck will be my wife's, once I shake the few bugs out of it and get the hood/bumper color matched. Some of y'all may already know this truck; it's a low mile (56K or so) that was stripped of the drivetrain, then got put back together using another low mile donor, a 50K Intimidator with a destroyed body. The end result is really nice; needs a little cosmetic work and a few small details to get it the rest of the way but hey it's a solid, low mile truck! Richard
  4. This piece can be had from eBay, just no silver letters added to it. But in the end it turns out I don't need the thing anyway; the seller had the correct SS insert for the dash and swapped out the one that was in it. Which sadly was an Intimidator insert, but hey; it's got the correct one in it now. I know that Intimidator one is much harder to find but since the truck is a regular SS it's not like I could lay any claim to it. ;) Richard
  5. Nope...my ISS has the correct Intimidator SS emblem for the dash. And just like the SS letters, the Intimidator part of the emblem has an indentation on the insert that it fits into. It's just that I may need to source a regular SS insert, too. Getting the "blank" one with just the SS indentations off eBay isn't gonna cut it. Richard
  6. I had found that post; it's about 5 or 6 years old. Guy was custom cutting stainless letters and installing them onto the inserts. It seemed he had faded out of contact quite a while back; he also had a bunch of SS-related parts for sale, but I'm assuming all sold out long ago as he was no longer responding. Richard
  7. The logo on the dash...I know I can buy the insert new, but it seems it's missing the inserts for the letters, just has SS molded into the plastic but it's all one color and seems to be an indentation vs. raised lettering, leading me to believe the letters are separate pieces that you stick onto the insert. What about the silver SS letters? Available separately? Part #? Thanks, Richard
  8. Those 6 piston Brembo's are monsters. They also use those calipers on the newer SRT Jeep Grand Cherkoee, and the Porche Macan GTS, if I'm not mistaken (with Porsche's logo on them instead of Brembo, of course...) There was a guy selling the calipers brand new, along with pads, adapter brackets, hardware, and lines - swap parts for an SRT8 car for just over a grand. Looked like a pretty sweet deal, but I'm fairly happy with how the stock Brembos stop my 300 so I didn't bite. According to him the calipers sell unloaded for $650, so as far as totally speculative pricing on that GM kit, wouldn't be surprised to see a price around a grand for it since rotors are included, and Brembo pads aren't cheap either. Richard
  9. Wow...amazing luck! I've had a truck I spent many years and dollars modding only to have it stolen and stripped. It ruined it for me. I put it back together and sold it, it would never be the same again IMO. Totally surprising they found yours relatively unscathed and you got it back, good for you! Now look into the Jimmy Jammer products to slow them down next time. I knew about their Jimmy Jammer plate from years back, but 1Fastbrick mentioning their tailgate product got me looking at their page again. They have the original Jimmy Jammer plate that helps keep them from screwdrivering under your handle to get to the lock pawl, but also have a plug that fills in the lock hole in your handle too. On my Intimidator SS I ditched the lock cylinder and rod altogether and put on an Escalade handle with no lock hole. Obviously if they feel like they have the time they will just end up busting a window, but the longer they take, the more chance for them to get caught. F'in mind blowing. So I wonder how quick they would be to press charges on you if you blow someone away while they try to steal your truck? Just tell the DA you were letting him borrow some bullets from you. Richard
  10. Could knock me over with a feather! Not slamming your price, just didn't think there was demand enough for those items to go for that money. Definitely hard to find items, no doubt. Good for both of you. Richard
  11. Can't speak for all the pics but if you notice the majority of them have a Texas registration sticker on the windshield, and the ad does say the truck is from Texas. Richard
  12. Don't know on the front bumper cover; some others that have built clones should be able to answer. Rear bumper cover does indeed simply go on top of the regular fleetside truck bumper, though there are a couple of small brackets that are part of this and they can be hard to obtain. Someone may have a pic of them and you could just fab your own; they're not complex. Factory fogs will go behind the brake ducts; there was a post not long ago with pics of the simple brackets others have made to position them properly. If I can find it I'll edit back with the link. OK, here's a couple: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/74126-fog-lights/page-2 http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/63507-fog-lights-on-the-ss Richard
  13. Aw yeah... found it http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/73821-crew-cab-ss-conversion-pics-inside/ Richard
  14. Due to potential for problems, I generally only wash 'em if I'm getting ready to do some seriously involved engine work. If they are getting really nasty then there's usually some problem that needs to be addressed. Long gone are the days you could just pull up in the car wash bay and wrap a plastic sack around the carburetor and go to town. Richard
  15. Welcome! There was a white crew cab SS clone for sale a while back that was absolutely amazing. I wish I could find the ad now; I can't remember if it was on here, or over on PerformanceTrucks forum. Anyway, suffice it to say a crew cab makes a nice looking clone if you put in the effort! Richard
  16. If you end up buying new, I got the passenger bed rear corner cladding from SAE Parts (about $150 shipped), and got the tailgate strip from Quirk Parts (about $167 shipped.) Richard
  17. You been looking in the other section? 2003 blue 85K miles $16K http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/89264-2003-silverado-ss-for-sale-85100-miles/ Richard
  18. Since most of the guys here run LS engines you may or may not find someone that has the info you need. If nobody responds with the answer you might should try over on Performance Trucks forum since they cater to pretty much all trucks not just Silverado SS's Richard
  19. I wish I had read about this before ordering my drop kit. I guess the upside is the drop kit is still sitting in boxes; haven't had time to do anything with it. Definitely considering the coilover conversion. Something else I'll have to fight to find the time to install... Richard
  20. Completely sucks. Don't be surprised if the other two come back as stolen and they were on a spree. Richard
  21. I've got a Volant that needs a new filter. It's also missing 2 of the screws for the cover, but they're just plain screws you could pick up pretty much anywhere if you hunt for a match. The filter will set you back about $60 through Jegs or Summit. I bought one but it ended up being the wrong size so it's on my truck now with the box removed... $100 for the complete setup minus filter, plus your complete stock setup in exchange. Saves you $100+ on buying a brand new Volant. Richard
  22. Wow...both of those are pretty craptacular. The second one is worse though just in cheese factor. I was thinking it might be a clone since it's missing the same piece of cladding on each side, but 8th digit N says it came with a 6.0, so...guess it's "real" Richard
  23. Good choice covering up the lugs with a cap. I usually am not a fan of covering them up, but I totally understand given the design that 6 lug pattern just wasn't going to fit in if it was exposed. Richard
  24. So in Arkansas, they advertise beer right on the gas pumps? Kewl Richard
