  1. i would contact Volant about the grommet being to large. on the ram air tube, i used 2 heavy duty zip ties to secure the tube to the bumper bracket, keeps it tight and out of the way of the tire, and if your clamps loosen some the tube won't drop down on the ground.. i have had the old style Volant on since late 03, and the grommets are still pretty tight, i tighten my clamps with a 5/16" box wrench to give a little more clamping power than just using a big screw driver.. good luck
  2. i feel your pain.. i have had 3 on right shoulder, 2 on my left. depending on what is done, and the extent of the damage, will decide on post op pain, and recovery. my last one on my right was the worst. lost 2 ligaments (damaged beyond repair) 1 was fixed the best they could, the rest are holding on by a thread. also had to remove over 3/4" from my shoulder bone so i could raise my arm more than 75* with out locking and great pain. was in a sling for a month, PT for 6 mo. has never been with out some sort of discomfort. that was 15 years ago. the others, PT, good drugs, and back to work in 6-7 weeks. if i move them wrong i know it.. good luck..
  3. yes.. couple weeks ago, in I-15 just west of Victorville Ca. putting in a new over pass when a worker was cutting rebar with a torch in the wind and set the wood frame work on fire just prior to pouring the concrete. entire over pass burned and collapsed on to the freeway closing I-15 north/south down for a couple of days.. here some pics.. http://www.vvdailypress.com/sections/slideshow/?id=21394887
  4. they were out, but not as many as we expected.. this is what the back head end of the fire box will look like.. front pivot joint..designed to be able to round 20* turns reverser.. no cheep plastic tool here.. now thats a drive wheel.. some info.. 5. first, i'm not a train buff, but i enjoy old things with a history. Union Pacific Rail Road towed this steam engine into where i work last week going to Cheyenne WY. to be refurbished back to working condition. to say the least, this thing is HUGE..from coupler, to coupler is 132' long, weight is a little over 1.2 M lbs, top speed 80 mph, can pull approx 500,000 lbs. here's a few pics back in the day..
  6. IMO- the best looking hard cover for the SS is a Gaylord speedster..i got mine for about $1300 from a dealer new. shipped, painted, and installed. one of the best things about it is that it will fit over the stock SS tail gate cap with out having to remove it.
  7. loosen the 3 bolts behind the tail gate, but DO NOT REMOVE THEM. once their loose, the bezel can be removed. the clips can be found in any parts store for cheep under $3.00. when i did mine i replaced both clips, and used some white lithium spray on the clips, and latch. if you remove the 3 bolts completely, there are spacers behind the latch that can/will fall to the bottom of your tail gate, then you'll need to try and fish them out...i know.. good luck
  8. yes it did. was rebuilt before i got it. properly built power glides can handle some big HP/TQ
  9. far enough back to maybe dated your grandma... 1971.. drove my 1965 Impala, 396 with a PG. first of many that i have owned..
  10. i'm the odd ball here i'm running a Gibson cat back for over 10 years. this is what i'm using.. some will say it's to quiet, i think it's just fine for me..
  11. try running a can or two of seafoam in your fuel tank. could be dirty/clogging injector(s)
  12. i had the rear pinion whine on my 03 with only 190 mi on it new. after re shimming it x2 GM decided to replace the whole assembly with a new one..still whined. long story short, GM engineers who came to the dealer found it was the front diff that was causing the whine. bad carrier bearings from a supplier.(known issue on 03 early 04's what happened to mine was the frequency being made was traveling from the front diff, thru the front drive shaft, t-case, rear shaft to the rear.. they removed the front shaft, whine gone.. i would drain your front diff fluid and check for metal.. good luck
  13. this works great on keeping your tail gate..about $1.00..
  14. checked battery this am, had 12.7V with no start from last night. running voltage after 2 min. was 14.7V at battery, settled down to 14.5V after 4 min. checked voltage at low beam plug and was 14.2V... if i get a chance today i'll try to get into town and have a load test done on the battery..
  15. i noticed my head lights were very dim the other night, both low and high. did a quick check of alt. out put and showed 14.2V at the battery. where can i find the ground for them. i'm hoping that the issue. i have not tested the voltage to the light sockets yet. truck is only driven 1-2 times every week or so and can sit for 2 weeks with out starting, but always starts right up like always..i find it hard to think all 4 bulbs would go bad at the same time., also have the 4 high mod for about 10 years now..anyone got ideas... thanks
  16. indigo blue metallic..had that on my 01 Z71 and looks great after a good wax..
  17. oh the fun you can have on a foggy night..
  18. and filtration.. after about 10K miles, wipe out your intake tube with a white cloth, and you will see how much it doesn't filter..
  19. they would be a hard find..good cai, but to bad they went out of business, what 5 -7 years ago. i have the Volant now for 10 years.
  20. any up date on this. i also am looking for brighter than stock bulbs in LED for my work vehicle.. thanks
  21. passing smog.. LT's and no cats will not pass visual inspection, and the cam most likely won't pass on your HC/CO. swapping a LQ4 in a 04 1500 may not fly also..the Gibson system is is pretty loud with cats, so i imagine what it will be like with out them. the Colton cops will have a field day with you the first time you crank on it.. good luck..
  22. if you can't go LT's this is the best we can do here in CA legally..maybe you can use them in Nevada.but their not cheep.. http://www.bassani.com/part/601500C good luck
