  1. George sells good stuff! I bought his stock radio.
  2. Will be watching. Thought about running mine. May make a test and tune this fall.
  3. I like all the "goodies", but my "Trophy Truck" is going to stay pretty much stock. It's a time capsule. I did drive it some this weekend, and it's got grandkid hauling duty next week!
  4. I'm fairly new also. Lots of great info, and good folks here. I'm also a late bloomer. Never considered an SSS until Nov. '17, now I have a primo example of this fine vehicle.
  5. There was a nice, red one in North Carolina. Had Z06 brakes and a few dress-ups, otherwise stock. 120,xxx miles, looked sharp. Check the area Craigslist. It was #2 on my list before I closed a deal on my '05.
  6. Not too bad.... Just talked to my neighbor who has an Express van, 6.0, he does regional delivery service with. It let him down for the first time ever. He had to put a starter on at 730,000 miles!!! These Chevys are tough.
  7. Love that "no drill" front license plate!!! Great idea for states that require front plates, and you don't want to mess-up your bumper.
  8. I did admire the sexy beast today! A car cover is in the immediate future. It gets dusty in my shop (since grass cutting season has begun). It got washed this weekend! I have a few items to tackle in the coming months... Going to put some less aggressive tires on it in the near future. The ones on it are almost new, but make a little noise. I want it smooth and quite. If I wanted noise, I would have kept my diesel! Looking at General HTS60s. They are very smooth and quite on my son's Suburban, and have a great wear index. They're also 117 load index, so I can air them up to 51 PSI when I hook-up the trailer. Speaking of trailer towing, I'm having problems with the factory trailer wiring. I'm sure I'll be asking for expert's seasoned advice when I get into it! A custom tune is going to be scheduled, along with some trans parts to firm up the shifts a little. Going to add a case saver, pump cover and a new transfer case chain while I have it on the lift. Trans and transfer case refill with Allison Transynd fluid for good measure. I try to drive it every Sunday to church (weather permitting, only on dry days!). It gets lots of comments. I've only seen one other, in person, since I got it three months ago (a ISSS, no less).
  9. New SSS owner here. Soaking up all the old info!
  10. Tail lights look like F150 headlights. Not fond of the overall look...really generic... Same stance, boring wheels, no painted calipers (big brakes?), plain exhaust....... Looks like just another "package". I guess they just won't replicate the SSS.
  11. Any stage one or stage two cam will give you some extra horses, but if you're looking for power way down low, there's not much gain. I have to hunt to see any dyno numbers below 3,000 RPM, and when I do happen to find a graph that goes that low, there not much to be gained. Almost all of my driving is below 2,300 RPM (3 grand towing). I guess it would be nice during the occasional romp through the gears, but if I want to go fast, I'll flog on one of my race cars!
  12. I've always heard, if you're going to hammer on a 80, do it in "3". Running in "D" will make it go boom... I'm sure there are details and a better explanation of why on the old interweb.
  13. Welcome! Lots of good info here.
  14. What does it take to install? How different is the coil spring mounting? Would that sway bar be the same on all the Tahoe, Escalade, Yukon, Suburban?
  15. Everyone raves about the BTR Stage 2 Truck Cam, for torque, all around power and great manners with a stock converter. All depends on you r goals (and how deep your pockets are!).
  16. Trailer brakes/controller MANDATORY! Would be advisable to beef-up the rear suspension (bags?) for tongue weight (weight distributing hitch highly recommended). Air tires rear tires up to max PSI (I have load Range 117, 51 PSI tires). Mine tows GREAT pulling my '65 Malibu SS/scooter/junk at about 6,000# total trailer weight, it just bottoms out the factory G60 (dropped) suspension on bumps. I haven't hooked it up to my 28" enclosed yet, but it's gonna happen! About 8,500#..... She's a "pretty" WORK TRUCK!
  17. I'd want to know what's in the "built" trans (receipts/parts list). Look for obvious issues with the engine, check for stored codes, take oil fill cap off when running and look for excessive crankcase pressure. And.....drive the heck out of it while it's still not yours! If it flies apart, it wasn't a good deal!
  18. I know it's a WAY different animal, but the wife's '10 Camaro SS would do this whenever battery voltage gets low. How old is the battery?
  19. Exact symptoms mine had. When off the throttle the whine/low roar/growl would go away. On the throttle, the noise was present. When I got the truck home, I went over all the fluid levels/condition. I noticed the front diff had a right side axle seal leaking (not enough to drip, but fluid had slung around the flange). Couldn't touch the fluid through the fill hole, drained (lots of magnetic fluff on the drain plug), only about 1 qt. came out (about 1/2 of the recommended fill). Apparently, the leak had gone unnoticed and the oil level had been dropping for some time. I refilled with Mobil 1 75w90, the noise was a little quieter, but I knew the diff was injured. I'll order parts (bearings and seals) and rebuild the original for a spare. This is a common problem.
  20. Put in Mobil 1 75-90 full syn. Had a friend who found it. He just sent it to me. Not sure what he paid for it (but knowing him, I bet it was cheap!).
  21. Finally found a front differential to put in the SSS. I didn't want to tear it apart, and have it incapacitated. Got a donor from a 2006 Sierra Denali w/ 126K miles. Put it in and it's whisper quiet. Now I can take my time repairing the original. Wasn't too big of a job. About 2 hours, working off the floor, truck on ramps. Tip: have a strong "bench presser" to stab the differential, while you start a bolt. I did it, but it was a strain! Thanks for all the "how-to's, and previous advice on what the problem was.
