  1. Glad to have another SSS on the site.
  2. I'm interested in this mod, but I'm gonna tow with it some before I make up my mind. My TES-295 fluid will take a lot more heat than standard Dex-III. What kind of temps are you seeing? I'm wondering if a 160 degree t-stat will help, since the trans fluid makes a loop through the radiator. May do that before I get it tuned.
  3. I did a lot of shopping the past couple of months. With paint issues and over 200K miles, $6-8 is the going rate. You will see worse advertised for more, but they seldom sell for anywhere near asking price. Good luck on the sale, or keep having fun with a really cool truck!
  4. I saw this one and was intrigued, Just wondering if it was the same, based on RPO codes listed. Any '05 owners out there feel free to chime-in. THANKS!
  5. I put "cheap, eBay" headers on my '10 Camaro SS and its been 2 years and about 40K miles with NO issues. I think they were stainless engineering. They've been flawless.
  6. I just "looked" for a couple of months while shopping and deciding what to buy. Spent the last 22 years in Dodge Diesels. Finally sold the last one and jumped-ship! Practically, an Sierra Denali would've been better, but I just couldn't make myself drive an "old man's truck"! Needed a little pizzaz! Until Dec. '17, I'd never considered an SSS. Heck, I haven't seen one on the road in years (I thought they only came in blue!). But when looking at gas burners, the SSS is the only really sporty truck (will balls enough to actually do some work) out there (maybe an 4 door SRT, but they're high priced, and aren't rated to haul as much as the SSS). They were cheap a few years ago). At work, we have had several 6.0 HD trucks over the years, so I know the engine and truck are drop-dead dependable, and plenty stout (a little disappointed about the puny front diff, and transfer case nuisances, but...). I've joined, and will post from time-to-time. Plan on keeping my 98K mile beauty stock, so I won't be posting about mods, and all that. Only attention mine needs is some front diff love (a little whine while on the throttle). I'll also add a trailer brake controller (yea, she's gonna get worked occasionally). My red '65 Malibu SS, behind her, on the trailer is going to look good.
  7. They are using the USPS, trademarked logo. Make sure you notify the local Postal Police. They seem to swing a bigger stick than (care more? less to do?), than local PD. They're the "Feds"! Thanks for the heads-up.
  8. Newbie question...What radio this this truck come with? Got a picture? Want to be on the look-out for one, to put-back to stock. The pioneer is working very well, just want it original (or at least have an original on stand-by!). Thanks in advance! You guys are a treasure trove of info!
  9. May be hub bearing. Any noise when you turn (less or more depending on wether or not the wheel is loaded)?
  10. I've been shopping hot-and-heavy for the past 2 months. I've only seen a couple of ISS. Your's compares to ones I've seen in the $25K range. Just a ballpark. It's worth whatever someone will pay. Put it out there...
  11. Welcome Amazi! I'm getting more and more seniority! Mine will also be remaining mostly stock. A tune is about all mine will see. Trying to preserve this dying breed of really cool trucks!
  12. Glad I'm not the newest newbie! Welcome.
  13. So, did you degree the cam into verify numbers (especially TDC)? Also, Check it with a timing light to verify where your timing actually is. There have been different balancers/markings/timing tabs over the years. Until you find actual TDC, you're just guessing.

  15. This one won't be seeing any bad weather, I have a 4WD work truck for that!
  16. Yes Sanders. Front diff only had about 1/2 the lube it should have had. Looks like a slight leak at the right diff seal. Drained the last qt. out, refilled w/ Syn 75w90. No chunks, but lots of fuzz on the drain plug. After being full, about half the noise went away, but its gonna need some love in the near future!
  17. Been lurking for a couple of months, as I’ve been shopping. Joined a couple of weeks ago, as a purchase looked imminent. These (southern) trucks are hard to find in really good shape. Chasing a whine that goes away when you let off the throttle. Pros, what’s. Your best guess? X-fer case, front diff., rear diff? Checking fluid levels this weekend. Thanks for all the compliments, and in advance for technical help! Pic
  18. Im officially a member. Picked up this jewel yesterday. 98,450 miles 2005 AWD Sunroof Leather, tow, loaded-up. Only thing Im not crazy about is the aftermarket radio.
