  1. It's funny when people try to play... then back off when they see the SS badging. Even more funny if people who see it, don't get it... and then loose with a dumb founded look on there face
  2. So yesterday going W on the 118 into Simi Valley I saw a raced out Toyota 4-Runner coming up behind me. I was already going 80 and wasn't going to bother but he got right up on my bumper and sat there. I HATE that.. so the second I saw an opening I hit it and after the needle was buried for a minute or so he was far far behind me. A few miles up I was getting off my exit and he finally caught up, go off at the same place and turned the other direction. I could tell he was pissed.... but I sure had a smile on my face. Then today coming into Venice on the 405 there was this guy in a new 4 door Ford F-150. He had some mean sounding dual side exit exhaust and who knows what else. Anyhow he was one of those guys where you can tell they are going to be a d$^k the second they get on the freeway. So he starts driving like an idiot to get over.. then cuts me off! I got over and easily passed him which I assume he wasn't happy with. Once there was a little open space he got over... I let him get bumper to bumper then I hit it. There really wasn't much of a race... I pulled a few truck lengths on him and the once we hit traffic he took the wrong way out and got stuck a few miles back . I thought it was over, I slowed down to 75 :-) and just went on my way. A few mintues later here he comes... at that point I was over it and didn't want to waste the gas so I let him go by me... he passes me WAVING AND SMILEING like, haha I won... then he got off the freeway! Damn it I was angry... how did he get the last word when I won! Grrrr... oh well goes to show not only rice rockets can do the flyby.
  3. The one I got has 4 tabs, 2 across the top and 2 across the bottom. The 2 on top go in first then you rotate the cover down.. align the bottom tabs and slide the cover down into place.
  4. I have a black 04 and just ordered a new cover for mine about a month ago. This is the part # I used... 12335771 . I thought it would come grey and need paint, but this one actually came black and matched the truck. On the pricey side I thought for a cover, $29 plus shipping. I'd write gmparts to make sure this is the one.... but it worked for me. Cheers!
  5. just want to move this to the top... id like to know why the drivers side is diff too... im going to be swapping the cam in a few weeks and this is the first ive heard of this.
  6. Sweet thanks! I'll try that, or both.. sure a lot cheaper than the GM method. Hope the connectors work out, they should be there soon! Cheers!
  7. Ahh... I see why. You put lucky_793021. Change that to [email protected] and try again. I have them in a box and ready to go.
  8. Sounds much better/cheaper to use those sheet metal screws than paying $2.50 each plus shipping for the GM ones. So those bite in and hold the fan motors even with all the vibrations and everything? I was thinking of going with a bold with locking nut but if you have the #14's working I'll give it a shot.
  9. Ok, now I'm back and forth again. There is no way I can do the TC.... so I figure the extra parts and tools needed to pull the engine is less than the $400 to install the TC. Also we would get a really cool how-to out of it... hopefully one that doesn't end badly. So much to think about... cause really, I don't feel like pulling that damn thing out of there but if it will make the other install's go smoother.... then it could be fun?
  10. After a long battle back and forth with GMpartsdirect over them needing the Vin number of an 05' truck to give me the part number for the bolts that mount the fan motors to the housing.... I finally got this. Kinda cool and helpful for guys looking to build these.
  11. I checked but the payment still has not gone through. If you want to PM me the email you use for the account I can send you a "request" so all you have to do is accept I think? Anyhow.. let me know what you want to try and I'll get the harnesses out asap.. Cheers!
  12. Ok, so you log onto the paypal account and at the top there is a tab that says "send money". on that page there is a box where you can enter an email address to send it to. in that box put [email protected] and in the notes section put the address you want me to ship it to. I'll send it out asap and give you the tracking number once they are out. Cheers!
  13. Ok then, you're talking me into it. I've done lots of things but nothing like taking the whole engine out. You're right, its freakin me out a little.... always good times. Do you think I should rent the picker and stand or just buy them? Would this work? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...itemnumber=7620 If I rent them... where is a good place to try? Do auto places like auto zone have them for rent? Thanks for all the help Mr. P!!!! Oh, I'm def going to take lot's of pictures and try to document the whole removal process.
  14. Yeah he said to get it ready for removal and he'd come over and help with the rest. I need to find a place that rents hoists and engine stands. I know it would be the better way of doing it... but it sounds like so much work to get the thing out of there. I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad as it sounds, but I dont want to start down a road I cant come back from. I was going to have the TC installed by a place down the street and then do everything else in my garage.. followed up by a muffler place connecting the headers into the exhaust. Pulling the engine saves me from the tranny shop and some install tools but would still cost in the rental of hoist and stand. Good times..... what a painful addiction this is :-)
  15. Ok, here is the pic. One in the bag, one out so you can see it. Let me know if you need help setting up pay pal.
  16. Ok then pulling it sounds like the way to go. I didn't think about the hood Mr. P... why would I need to take the hood off? What other steps are involved in getting it out, and back in? Would I need an extra tall hoist? Oh, I did forget to add the oil pump to the list, but I was doing that and a double timing chain too. What are some good rod bolts to get? Thanks for the advice!
  17. Yeah I figured it would be more work.... but could save time in the long run having good access to everything.
  18. So I have a "few" parts to install... 1) TOG headers 2) Comp Cam 3) 160 stat 4) Tranny Cooler 5) E-fans 6) Yank TT2600 I talked it over with my Uncle last night, he has an auto shop and builds high performance engines. He told me the best way to do this, especially with the cam install, would be to pull the engine. I'd have the added benifit of access to the torque converter without having to drop the tranny. Also, with the engine out pulling the heads off to change the springs would be much eaiser than dicking around with the air fitting and spring compressor. What do you all think? Will everything I have to remove for the installs the engine would be almost out anyway right? Thoughts?
  19. They are the connectors the connect to the motors... with wires off the back to splice into the full harness. I'll get the pic's up as soon as I can. I have to charge the battery on the camera. Cheers!
  20. Sure why not :-) I can't ship them until Monday though. If you send me the paypal and your address I'll have them out Monday morning. [email protected] Cheers!
  21. I have 2x GM part #88987983 that I didn't need for the 05' OEM e-fan set up with the Nelson Harness. If you are building your own harness.. you will need these. They are still new in there packs. Paid $24 plus shipping each... I'll take $20 each w/ shipping included.
  22. http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.aspx/p...6/categoryid/25 This is supposed to make a regular Silverado look like an SS.... but would this Roll Pan work with an actual SS? It has those exhaust ports we are all looking for. "edit" Oops... never mind http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.aspx/pa...6/categoryid/25 Answered my own question.... wish I could erase this now.
  23. Do you need anything else to put the 90mm on the truck or will it bolt up to the stock equipment?
  24. Yeah there is a how-to on this. Good to know you don't have to cook them. There was 2 reasons I didn't want to open them though. 1 is I'm lazy about it.. :-) and 2 is I think it would look cool to paint the headlight it's self... it would make it blend into the hood and have a cool wrap effect. I have scene a few clear coats around that are supposed to protect against this type of chipping. I'll look around more and post results if I find them. If not.. looks like they're getting torn apart.
