  1. I'm doing this system on my 04' SSS -Now i'm looking for front options becides Pro-ride (Fox) 3-way adjustable shocks for the front suspensiom... Anyone upgrade the front suspension on there SSS to ride/handle better? It would be sweet if a company had a trick tubular A-arm set-up (I have drop spindles now)
  2. yes I cut them... i'm looking to really improve the ride. It's just super harsh - Front as well as the back...
  3. My SSS rides super hard - Running a BellTech 2/4 drop kit w/Nitro shocks that came with the kit. It's just a miserable stiff, back jarring ride over bumps... Does anyone have any idea's on how to get a better ride? It shit ride was ok when I was 18 but motocross has taken it's toll on my back over the years... BTW I'm open to a new suspension system all together.

    Ls6 Swap

It's been done a few times, here's one --LS7 Silverado It's been done a few times, here's one --LS7 Silverado
  5. I'm doing a Whipple... Are you doing triple pillar gauges? If so, which ones are you using (data)? I'm thinking boost/vac (no doubt), fuel pressure and A/F... or ?? and?? A
  6. Nice build so far... Are you using a narrowed rear end? I'm doing a LSx similar build, I just like the looks of an old school Whipple blower... but after seeing that intake on yours I sorta wish I went the Pro-Charger route!
  7. Are you still staying with AWD? -I'm building a similar LSx for my 04 SS, same Pro-charger etc. Love the traction but I fear imploding the transfer case

    Black Paint Job

BMW JET BLACK is the deepest I have seen at my buddies detail shop, but he says also one of the softest Blacks ***BEWARE****
  9. Yes! I've seen your truck on YouTube video's and read an article somewhere about the build. That truck is the king of SSS's fo sho... What a bitch it was to covert a 2008 era GM crate LS-3 to work in a 2004 SS! Do you think the rear/front end gears (w 150K on them) will hold up with the new HP/Torque? Lastly, so why an 4L80 over a 60/65? JJ
  10. Hey all, Has anyone swapped front and rear gears lower than 4:10's? I'm going to be dropping in a SMC performance built (converted) GM crate LS3 (500HP/480Torque) and really should replace the stock gears w 150K on them right? As far as the transfer case, I have a rebuilt NV-149 has 20K on it and will implode I'm sure but have a 100k warranty on it. Any tips with that? Beef it up? So.... Trans is coming from RPM: it's a 4L60/65E level 6 w/3000 stall---- My question is should I stay with stock diff gears or go lower? I do use truck to pull my roadracing bike rig (20ft trailer) These projects are NEVER done, it's all coming back to me after not building a muscle car/truck for 10 years :blahblah:

    Builds Only

Ya it's it's cool here but a big issue with most forums growing stronger is flaming newbies... this forum is not that big. Big picture here -new members = possible biz for the vendors or vendor fee's to sss.com. More hits brings the ratings of the site up, which in turn makes the site more attractive to larger companies to advertise here. That's a BIG point of the site right? As a moderator, I'm sure you know all this stuff... but I'm a newbie here and looking for an ss vendor to advise me and most than likely sell me my LS block and radix for my SSS build - So I posted in the "build section" I am a busy guy with my own biz - I'm sure I overlooked exactly where to post my questions (as you call BS) ...YES you wrote the above cause of me and one other member or the timing of your post was a perfect storm? Move my posts and flame me? how petty... To be big and bad sitting up on a high horse of "I've heard that 1000 times" and "do a search!" is just bad business. Smart biz would be to flame the die hards on here -not newbies. Do you know how many times I've heard the same sh** over and over and over in my biz? Having patients with newbies has made me grow bigger and bigger is more money, more money is a badder ass SSS or a cooler house. I already have the MTV Cribs worthy house. I have plenty of cash to "Build" my SSS and it's not BS... Guess who have [i found on here] that I'm getting my LS 408" Iron Block Shortblock from? LEP ring a bell?? Bought my NV149 from timetokill (a longterm sss guy) Trying to help and defend myself that's all... JJ
  12. Hey thanks for the advice... so basically you get what you pay for -that's why I was originally just gonna do a LS-3 crate (cammed to 480/475) but found out (from here) it's def not the best value to reach 500hp (which is my goal) I do like LEP's 408 short block - Have a call into them... I'll check HPM too. Miles are a mix but I would guess more hwy than city - I use to drive a winter (beater) truck and Corvettes in the summer (live in WI)... when I sold my Z06 and bought the SSS I just drove the piss out of it and planned a build when the motor/trans was cashed. The problem is it lasted longer that I thought, the motor still pulls pretty hard, and tranny is still tight. I did run Mobil 1 (changed every 5k) and synthetic (all) fluids since day one. All I've done in 180K was a battery and brakes (3) times... I wasted a transfer case cause my SS has a 2/3 drop and I bottomed it hard one winter (bent the driveshaft) and drove it anyway. (hey it was cold that day!) JJ
  13. Def interested... they look sweet on the website Does FR make their own or just distribute?
  14. Hey Hate, Gimme a few more details on the 408 stroker? I'm going in blown or turbo'd LQ9 direction now. Just gotta decide on a junk yard low mile LQ9 or re-build/build-stroke my existing LQ9- what you thinking is best? Sorry Ima newb on the motor stuff with trucks... ask me anything motorcycle-wise and i'm good
  15. That was my original thought, but isn't all that machine work, heads +STS or Radix gonna add up to as much as the crate LS3? I really want 500hp and a daily driver. I know what your saying about the swap YOU ARE RIGHT I was just thinking that only 475hp that is NOT enough fun for that kind of investment. I was thinking I could Radix or STS the LS3 down the road a few miles.... but I'm liking what you said "Go get another lq9 or lq4 with lower miles and just spray it or add some boost" I hadn't thought of that!! That way I could still limp around (NV149 is just about dead) in my SS until the motor was built. Anyone else?? opinions cherished! Thanks so far!!
  16. Looking for advice here - I bought my 2004 SSS brand spanking new and planned to drive the piss out of it (I did... 180K now) then drop a built LS motor in it when it was time and I had the funds. Well it's WAY past time and I have some $$ to do it. My needs are a daily driver and a re-born beast to pull my sportbikes to the track on weekends... most tracks with-in 100 miles of my house. To make it worth the time and effort, I want at least 475 hp and as much as 550 - I don't care too much about gas mileage and emissions (I'm exempt due to my location) So... I was about to buy an LS480/476 crate but thought before I jump the gun and make the wrong move, I would write in to get opinions from the smart ones here on sss.com Being on M/C guy, I respect this site a ton and can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Need trans/transfer, rear end and any other advice that applies to this build too Many thanks in advance!!!
  17. Well an LS7 runs 13-14k so I'm sure around 16k
  18. You mean re-build my LQ-9? I didn't pull the plug on the LS yet... very close, the LS is actually around $6,500.00 now. 3 year/warranty blah blah Looking for opinions here!
  19. I'm getting ready to an LS swap in my 04' SS myself... I got a deal on a LS480/476 from my buddy that owns a Chevy dealership. What are you doing for a trans/transfer case? I thinking 4L80E with new or low mile used NV149 -I need to keep mine AWD
  20. Why build? Just buy... 480hp/475 torque $5,800.00 shipped to my door http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/dc19a2b8#/dc19a2b8/68
