  1. 12335767 is the one I have ordered for a customer that is on backorder til September. I have a SPAC case on it, and 7 dealers in the country show it. 4 of them are shut down (Bill Heard Chevrolet), and 3 wont let it go for a SPAC.

  2. If it's a few hundred bucks it's probably not worth going to a lawyer, as it would probably cost more than you would get to do it. I know that's probably alot to you, and it would be to me, too. you just have to look at cost. I do agree with Hank and Steve. I would start looking today, and I would also confront him about it. File with the labor board, ect., just like others have said. But, mainly look for something else. Whether temporary, or not. It's time to move on.

  3. Won't a SPAC case only work if another dealer has the parts and is willing to give them up? If no one has the parts, then a SPAC case wont solve it. A D2D will only tell you if another dealer has it. If another dealer shows it on hand, and are willing to get rid of it, then SPAC will credit them back for it and ship and bill it to the dealer looking for it. I would assume if the truck has been laid up for so long, then the case has already gone to SPAC with no responses.

:withstupid: That's tghe case with a couple of my backorders. Dealers have them, but aren't willing to give them up. In a case like that all you can do is wait, as you've done all you can do.
  4. this is a common problem with the impalas also! My parents just had this happen & spent over $1000 for the stealership to check shit out before they figured out it was the starter!

Now that is some straight up BS! I would def fight that sh*t. It is places like that that give dealers a bad name. Did they give your parents an update and authorize all the expenses, or did they just do it and hand them a bill for $1k?

:withstupid: I've seen that happen under warranty, which frustrates the sh1t out of me. Diagnose and fix the problem. Don't guess and just trow parts at it. But, when it's a customer pay job make sure it's right. They shouldn't have to pay for guesses in diagnosis.
  5. Agreed that you could save a ton of money on that starter by doing it yourself. But I just looked up the starter in my system, and the OEM Reman starter lists for like $284. :sigh: OEM parts are outrageous in price. And this is coming from a GM parts guy lol.

:withstupid: No kidding. Some are just freakin' insane.
  6. I got into the automotive business in the mid 80s, and we had some hard times then. This is by far some of the worst times I've seen since becoming part of the workforce, but I believe it will get better. When? Who knows.

My advice, communicate with your wife, and stick by each other through this. Do what you need to do to make it through this, and you'll be much stronger when you make it to the other side. It may not be your dream job for now, but that will come in time.
