In a deal like that I would play for real, not get sarcastic - I'd invite them to seek legal counsel if they think their "rights" have been violated. :lol: Let them discover on their own exactly how the world really works. But seriously if your kids are threatening you there are much more serious issues - you've really ****ed-up years ago and are now paying for it. :smash:

     

    It's not for me. it's for a friend who's having issues with his teenager and can't understand why. Perhaps the word poignant is a better choice. Mr. P. I often find that something with alittle humour and is very poignant works! Do you have anything?

  2. I getting ready to install my TB TC in a few weeks and after doing some reading here I'm trying to draw up a list of parts needed and what to watch for. Thanks to Krambo I think everything is about covered in his quote below except a few things I'm not quite clear on.

     

    Is #1 the tranny dipstick or the oil dipstick?

     

    Do I need a gasket for the transfer case?

     

    Anything else to watch for?

    did an entire tranny / converter swap in my garage with no air tools by myself with no tranny jack (just a floor jack). IT SUCKED. I consider myself a fairly good wrench turner but exhaust and tranny work is for the birds. Doing it by yourself is not only VERY difficult but dangerous without the proper tools. If you have a tranny jack, I say have at it! It isn't difficult, just time consuming. If you have a friend, it will be a breeze and a great learning experience.

     

    Couple of tips that I learned the hard way:

     

    1. Remove your dipstick before dropping the trans and let it dangle. It is impossible to wiggle back in place after the tranny is in place.

     

    2. Get a "gearwrench" for doing the TQ converter bolts. A regular wrench will take forever!

     

    3. Don't tighten the converter bolts fully until you have all 3 threaded in. I had difficulty starting my 3rd one with 2 of them tight

     

    4. The engine oil dipstick doesn't have to be removed but it is much easier to manuver the starter with it out.

     

    5. Don't fuss with the electrical connections on the drivers side of the tranny. Just unbolt the entire plate with the linkage. You will damage the connectors, they are glued in.

     

    6. Bell housing bolts are easy. Just need a few 10" extensions and maybe a knuckle. Go at them from the back of the tranny

     

    7. Make sure your converter is fully seated so you do not damage the pump when you bolt up the tranny. Double check before you tighten bell housing bolts. You should have to pull the converter forward a 1/4 inch or so to bolt it to the motor after the tranny is on the dowel pins. If not, you may have an issue.

     

    8. Tranny lines are just a tiny clip and they pull right out. No need to use a wrench there.

     

    9. Use loctite on your converter bolts and make it tight. No way you are going to get a TQ wrench in there.

  3. Here's a good one for you from north of the border. In Canada, street racing is now a criminal offence. Now one little race with your buddies as a teenager and you are screwed for life. No one here cares what it's for as long as you have a criminal record. :icon_bs:

  5. First, this was more of a test than an intentional kill.

     

    I was on my way to an appointment in the city one day when from a sideroad on the outskirts of town appears another SS. I had a close look as I passed by and it appeared to be the same year, colour, factory tonneau and all the same stuff as mine. Well, as soon as he pulled out of the sideroad in behind me on the highway I was hoping to get a chance for a little run. Our route into the city is fairly straight countryish roads with stoplights every few miles so I tried to tailor my speed so the lights would change in our favour. Well, it did't take long before we were side by side at a red on a nice two lane stretch of road.

     

    As soon as we got green it was no contest. It brang back not so fond memories of how sluggish and detuned my truck felt stock. We ran up to about 100mph where I'd say I had at least 7-8 trucks lengths on him, not to forget his mph limiter would be kicking in by then.

     

    It was a nice little informal test that confirmed by suspicions that all my mods to date was money well spent. Not long after that were closer to being in the city with more traffic and at another stoplight when he rolled down his window and said, "Wow!". He said that he and his buddy were trying to figure out what I had. I told them not to worry that I was far from stock and then said have a nice day and away we went.

     

    As alittle sidenote, the most frequent comment I get from people who know nothing about trucks etc. is how cool my Corsa exhaust sounds. The Corsa exhaust is not the greastest power adder you can buy but for me it certainly gets the most positive comments. :thumbs:

    99-TR-BLOWR-CAM Thunder Racing Custom "Blower" Camshaft - 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA. Off Idle-6800 RPM Power Band. Broad power range. Decreased valve overlap for forced induction applications. Stock like idle. Minor tuning required. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Double valve springs and titanium retainers required for this cam.

  7. I just e-mailed them. The first response was to have the original owner e-mail them a transfer...I don't know who that is. If I had the key# I could unlock the upgrade, I already downloaded it. Man they have that stuff locked up tight. I e-mailed them again asking if I could pay a one time fee for the upgrade...it would be worth it at this point.

    HPTuners just answered a similar question for me by saying.

    the VCM Suite info file, lists all his current licenses. You can generate the file using Help -> VCM Suite Info.

     

    Hopefully, this will list your serial number as well.
