  1. For Sale: Recon LED third brake light for 99-06 Chevy / GMC full size trucks. This light is in in like new condtion and is in perfect working order. It was installed on my truck for only about a three month period. I has been sitting in the garage collecting dust for the past 2 years and was entirely forgotten until I cleaned out my garage last week. It is a direct replacement lens, however, you will need to splice into the original harness on the truck. (wiring instructions included) These are $100 new. First bidder for $50 OBO ***Just Reduced*** will have it mailed to their doorstep. Thanks for looking.
  2. The problems with the gauges are well documented around here, and is probably completely unrelated. Take it to the Chevy dealer and they may be able to replace the instrument bezel free of charge. GM has acknowledged there are problems with the stepper motors that drive the needles. Sorry to hear your truck got hit TWICE. That really sucks.
  3. I would like to have it. But I can't break the bank right now. For anyone interested it is the silver powdercoated version. Looks like it's in very good condition when I saw it in Matt's truck at the Illinois meet last summer. A good buy for someone. Wish it was me...
  4. Get some HIDs. Then you won't need foglights.
  5. I hate Guitar Queer-O. As much dexterity and coordination as that required, It's all wasted on a stupid video game. I bet he never even thought of picking up a real instrument... Fat, lazy kid.
  6. I was there last year. Great group of guys, espeacially Brent for putting up with us. I wish I could make it down there again, I've got some E-fans to install
  7. I never thanked Chris for my iPod adaptor. He is a top notch guy!
  8. My guess is that the wiring harness comes with the fog lights as a kit (if you are purchasing directly from GM accessories). At least this has always been my experience. Maybe somebody else can verify this for you.
  9. Honestly, you are going to see some wavyness on most cladding pieces espeacially if the cladding is from on 03 or 04. It's just they way it is. Do a search on the site and you will see many others have the same issues, me included.
  10. I agree. That wasn't the best looking ride to say the least... However, If GM ever gets their $hit together after this recession it would be cool if they brought back the El Camino. It beleive there would be a much bigger following with this name rather than some random Pontiac / Holden / Australian / G8 mud baby. With all the retro muscle cars coming out (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger) it would be cool to see a modern rendition of say a '69 'Camino. Just a thought...
  11. Sounds like you need to add some resistors in-line with the wiring for the LED tail lights. I have heard the LED tails can spell all kninds of trouble with blinker relays and stuff due to the decreased load inherent to the LEDs. Do some research on the net and determine what kind of resistors you need to add to your tail light harness to correct for the LEDs. I'm confident this will solve the problem.
  12. Correct me if I a wrong, but I think the 2WD SS trucks have a heavier duty rear axle. Swapping to an AWD axle might spell disaster with all the power going to the rear end. Since the AWD trucks share all that power with the front end GM was able to get away with putting a light duty rear end under the AWD SS. I'm no expert, but changing to 4:10 gears in a 2WD SS seems like it would create a even bigger traction deficit, especially if you plan on making additional power with future mods. Maybe someone else can speak to this and offer up some advice.
  13. ...I was wondering the same thing. Ive got about 32,000 miles on my 03 with the OEM plugs. I wanted to upgrade my plug wires and plugs (if needed). Also, how easy is it to change the plugs / wires for for a DIY'er? Any tips / tricks?
  14. ... Mine has always had the growling noise at low speeds while turning. Eveything has held together fine in the 4 years I have owned it.
  15. Thanks for the reply! That's the answer I was hoping for. I have done the Energy swaybar bushings / endlinks already with good results. I would definatley reccommend this to others as well, espeacially for the cost. Looks like I'll be getting some Bilstiens this spring!
  16. I was washing my truck the other day and was fussing over a tiny mark on my front bumper. Then I looked down and saw this damn malarchy! The black material in the recessed areas of the silver front ducts is flaking off. Has anyone else had this issue? What have others done to fix this? I can think of a half a dozen crappy fixes, but was thinking of taking them out and painting the edges black. Looks like it is just a $hitty decal. I'm assuming these is not a replacement decal for this, unless you purchase the entire duct from the dealer. Not a big deal i guess, but bothers me nonetheless. ***UPDATE*** I'm still looking to fix my peeling duct issue... Upon searching GMpartsdirect.com I thought I found the needed OEM duct trim to fix the issue. I ordered GM part number 15197886 ("Tape") shown on the below mentioned diagram. What I recieved was a $15 dollar rectangle piece of 3M transparent tape??? Kinda pissed me off because the diagram shows this as the trim around the duct. Has anyone found the correct part to fix this issue? What exactly does the clear peice of tape supposed to do? Any help would be much appreciated. If all else fails, I guess I will just paint the duct surrounds.
  17. Those with the Bilsteins: How is the ride quality different from the factory Tenneco shocks? Harsher than the originals? Are you seeing any driving / handling improvements? I was thinking of swapping to these shocks this spring along with new tires.
  18. Can't wait to see the truck when its done Chris. Coming from you, I'm sure everything will be top notch.
