  1. I parked beside a bad @$$ Red SS in Clarksville, TN at the Ruby Tuesday on 41A last night (2 NOV 06). It had a Red SS in the Bowtie, Chroming Flaming door handles, sweet wheels and a cowl hood. Did not recognize it as a local ride. There are a hand full of the Intimidators (06s) running around but not red ones. I think I have seen only a red one (I think his name is Gary), a blue one, a couple of black ones and one Silver Birch SS (Carpenter's work truck??).
  2. I have had mine about 16 months and I have 10,000 miles on it. Sounds okay until you take into consideration I was in Iraq for 11.5 of those months. So in essence I have put 10,000 miles on it in 4 1/2 months. I guess that sucks. 11.5 months in the gargage helped immensely. Okay, I bought it in Arizona and took it back to FT Campbell, KY =1800 miles, Georgia roundtrip 600+ ea trip =1300 miles so about 3100 of these miles have been solid highway miles. Okay, how does 30 miles a day minimum highway to get to/from work sound. So that can add up to alot of highway miles. I am not worried. I am so glad premium is $2.25 a gallon, I remember when it got up to $3.55 when I was back on leave.
  3. Our posts must be EST (Eastern Standard Time). We all should be caught up by now. By the way, I think I saw one of our fellow SS brothers this evening in Clarksville, TN at the Ruby Tuesday on 41A. First time I saw him. He had a Red 04/05, red SS emblazoned on the Bowtie, flaming chrome door handles, nice rims and a cowl hood. My little girl said it looked nicer than mine and when was mine going to look as nice ....I think she will fit in fine this weekend. Mark
  4. I am booked at the Drury Inn. I will be there around 7:00 pm. My cell is 931-249-6963. I searched the Internet (Travelocity, Expedia) and found five hotels with vacancies (Drury Inn($$$), Best Value Inn ($), Courtyard by Marriot ($$$$$), Red Roof ($$$), Fairfield Inn and Country Hearth. Where $ equals $35 increments. Hope this helps anyone. Unsure what is available for Saturday night. I might extend my stay. Dependent on my little princess and how she will feel after hanging out with the guys. Her mom is still deployed so I have the luxury of doing what Daddy wants to do. My wife is cool with it. Instead of booking on the Internet, I usually call saying I saw an available unit and price on the Internet and they give me the same rate.
  5. I wasn't able to order the silverado.com t-shirt last year, as you recall I was indisposed. Anyway, here is the roll-up for shirts I will get them tomorrow. I have a relative working at the US CAV plus I will get a good deal on the number of shirts I am getting. Yates: 1-2x, 2-S(6,8) Bad2: 1-3x, 2-xl, 1-S(7) Bowtie: 1-2x, 2-S(3,5 right?) if so probably an XS for the 3 and 5. Will get Smalls they can grow into them SSR: 1-2x, 1-xl SS Thunder: 1-L Chevyman23: 1-L As for housing, I was hoping to get a room down there tomorrow night. I will work my magic and see how it goes. Mark
  6. Just got back from a road trip from FT Campbell, KY to Carrollton, GA an hour ago and noticed a few things on the road. 1) The SS had no problems towing a 98 Cavalier to my parents place and actually maintained 14+ MPG. I only have the Volant CAI and Corsa Touring as MODs, so do not really know what my MPG "SHOULD" be. The only problem was keeping it slow. 2) First time I ever noticed that GSP (Georgia State Police) use lasers for traffic control. I picked it up near Douglasville traveling east of I-20. Being a soldier, it wasn't difficult seeing him hiding between the overpass sign and a tree (pretty ingenious really) but the biggest thing was my radar detector picked it up well in advance. However, I was moving in a large body of traffic and all of us were doing in excess of 80MPH (70MPH limit). Just a headups. Normally if a laser hits the sensor and you are alone-means you are a done deal. He has you dead. But in traffic...Who knows.
  7. Yates, so far I see Three 2Xs (You, Bowtie, SSR-SSS), 1X (SSR-SSS), 1 XS (Yates 5y/o), 3 smalls (Yates 8 y/o and Bowties 2 boys). Last call will be Wednesday, 1 NOVEMBER 2006. I will bring my girl Friday evening. I will have my computer with me and will check it for updates that evening. This ought to be fun, my first of many firsts. Air Assault!! Mark
  8. FT Campbell is in both Kentucky and Tennessee. Postal says it is Kentucky, yet there are stateline signs through the southern half of Campbell. I have only seen 5-6 SSS around here, some new Intimidators, and many Trailblazer SS's. Many recent purchases from getting back from the war. I am the only Silver Birch, so far (and I almost got a black one). I live in Clarksville, TN. However, my across the street neighbor has a fenceline separating his Tennessee backyard from Kentucky. That view lends itself to a beautiful country pasture with a barn, silo and plenty of cattle.
  9. Well guys, the offer is out there. I will need sizes for you and your passengers. I have Yates and his boys sizes. Should be no problem. I will bring what I can. We will come down the night before and stay somewhere that has a pool-Elisa loves to test her freshly required swimming skills (scares the hell out of me if you ask me.)
  10. J. Yates is it too late to get in on this? I just found this forum (after clicking on recent messages), I know your deadline was yesterday. I have an SS, am stationed out of FT Campbell, KY, which is 45 miles North of Nashville and about 60ish from Bowling Green. We have a training area up there that we "Air Assault" to all the time when we are not fighting in Iraq. I would only be able to come on Saturday because I have my six year old little girl with me, wife would kill me if I took her to the track. Wife is still deployed to Iraq and I just got back. I think my little one would get a kick out of seeing so many trucks like her Daddy's. She would dig the museum for a spell. After that it is up to you all. She loves drives in the truck and I need to get her out of town more (that would be my truck). Let me know, if I could get numbers and sizes I could probably round up some 101st Airborne Division T-Shirts and memorabilia that you could give out. If the answer is "Hell, yes you can get in," I will have my little one and me. If it is too late I know we could just drive up there and meet some of you guys and find something else to do.
  11. The JL Audio 500/1 is a one channel amp pushing 400 watts. As for the cleansweep, it has come to my attention that the Autoshop on FT Campbell, jacked up the price of the Cleansweep so the 25% discount wouldn't kill them. It lists at Audio Specialists of Hopkinsville, KY for $399 (I still beat it with the 25% discount though). The Cleansweep comes in various styles with the CL 441DSP running the price I mentioned.
  12. Sorry if this is not in the right forum area. I jsut wanted it to be seen quickly for some advice. So there I was trying diligently to install the Stealthbox, JL Audio 500/1 Amp and CleanSweep when I ran into a few dilemmas. First, after doing plenty of research on this website (thanks guys), I felt I was ready to install these pieces of audio equipment. First, to install the stealthbox under the passenger rear seat will require dropping the heat shroud that protects the bottom of the truck from the heat from the exhaust (not an easy task). Second, once I got access to the wire cluster coming out of the amplifier I was further stumped. So I took it to an Audio Specialist in Hopkinsville, KY just outside of FT Campbell, KY. A place that boasts two of the top 100 installers in the country. There he basically told me that I wasted my money on the Cleansweep unless I am going to change all the Bose speakers to something better. He called them $12 GM speakers. Best $12 speakers I have heard recently. Anyway, should I go with better speakers to use the Cleansweep (a $450 dollar paperweight right now) I cant complain I got a 25% discount and no sales tax. He said ZRs are too pricey and I can get you the same or better sound from some Boston Acoustics. What is up with an authorized JL Audio installer "shooting me straight?" He said tomorrow he will hook me up with a LOC with a power switch to the subs, if I dont need the bass. That will allow me to use all the steering wheel controls and allow me to upgrade later if I so choose.
  13. I do not know what you call your Marine Corps Network System adminstrators but if they are like our Army one's they are authorized to install (or provide a copy) MS 2003 Professional (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Powerpoint, Outlook with virus protection) all free with product key. This changed a few years ago because so many active duty members were bringing their work home with them. It would obviously be cheaper to get this for free. I am running into FT Campbell, KY tomorrow and will try to pick up the key. By the way, when did you get back from Iraq? I got back on the 25th, my wife is due back days before Thanksgiving, God Willing. I retire in March, 2007 (Transition leave in DEC-coincidentally on my 40th birthday I will sign out and say Adios)
  14. So there I was. Newly arrived from Iraq. Cash in hand and research conducted. I ordered the Corsa Touring setup for my SS and finally had the opportunity to install it and realized that the bolts were inaccessible to the backyard mechanic[me]. At 20% off and sales tax free due to my military affiliation I could not complain. I basically recieved the touring system for the price of the revered Sports system. I have pulled engines out of 22,000 lb M113A2 Armoured personnel carriers, Hummers are other vehicles. For those that remember, I added a CAT exhaust, TB, and Jet Chip to a 5 Cyclinder-2002 Trailblazer. To my wife's chagrin, she loves the power but hates the raceyness (riceyness) of her American TB..,do not even get on that wagon, my beloved is a Army Physician Assistant and Mexican by descent that loves a good vehicle, jsut not one that gies away her position in a nice middle class neighborhood... So why, when I took my truck to a reputable muffler shop did he prove that the Corsa Touring exhaust I picked up did not hang right. Specifically the forward hanger on the Corsa was 2 inches inward and the rear hanger was about an inch inward of the main muffler. Why is this important? Because everything in an exhaust system is dependent on the alignment of these hangars, and the fact that it nearly laid on the propeller shaft. The muffler guy had to heat/bend the $907 system's hangers to give me space away from that big ass propeller shaft. The muffler guy did all this for $60, great guy. i personally think he like my little 6 y/o girl practicing her Tae Kwon Do. It sounds great but am wondering if others have experienced misalignment issues with Corsa. We pay good money for this exhaust system and require it to fit completely-perfectly. Anyone have advise for this old about to be retired First Sergeant ?
  15. Thanks, I just bought the touring exhaust and did not know what it was going to sound like. I haven't installed it yet but will this week. I got it for $892 minus 20% plus tax free (9.5%). Deal or not? Just returned from Iraq and have money to spend. Purchased the Volant CAI with Scoop and the Corsa touring exhaust. Do you have any other suggestions for a moderate daily driver. I am retiring from the military as a Master Sergeant in DEC 06 and want max power gains for a competitive price. Any suggestions? I cannot bring myself to buy the SLP package for $2699 for only 55 BHP gains . A supercharger, although desired and in my price range, may not be in the cards. Thanks, Mark
