  1. The only reason why i assume it was too lean and detonating is because the stock Chevy intake manifold is notorious for running #7 leaner than normal, and when its not tuned right usually thats the first piston to blow up. Than again, maybe #7's parts just decided to fail right after messing with the tune and its a coincidence, you may never know... good luck with the new motor dude!!!! Hope u hit the low 11's with it man.

  2. Sucks man... sorry to hear about that bro!!

I see its cylinder #7... Why do I have a funny suspicion that the recent tuning caused it to run a little more leaner than normal and blow up #7? oh well. Good luck with the new motor!! Really shows how bullet proof the tranny is to outlast the motor with that kind of power!!

  3. That happened about 5 miles away from here.. I live in Ladera Ranch which is where that girl is from. My neighbors know who she was (i dont) and that was her car, and not her dads. I dont care if I have all the money in the world, there would be NO WAY IN HELL i would give my 18yr old daughtry (if i had one) a friggen Porsche 911. I hold her dad responsible for giving his daughter a car like that .. it was like giving her a loaded gun.

  4. Well I'm back....

After posting a terrible .551 rt w/ tire spin and a 2.2 60' (pulled a 14.4) on my first run I toasted the tranny on the second pass.... slipping pretty bad so I called it a day rather than having to tow it home.

Looks like I'll be investing in tranny upgrades much sooner than anticipated.... and it pisses me off b/c this is already my 2nd transmission in less than 10k miles :banghead:

Chase tore thru 2 belts on his first 2 passes. He managed a 12.08 on the 2nd run even with his belt commiting suicide at the end of the track.... he was heading to Napa autoparts for another belt when I left so hopefully if it held together he got that 11 second pass he was looking for.

Dylan, I am starting to think you put a curse on the trannies that are in everything you drive!! lol. 2 trannies in 10k miles? I have 4 trannies in this thing @ 39K miles. You are right on track so far!!! Like I was saying in the other thread... if it wasnt for these crappy GM trannies, these trucks would be sooo much better. Hard to imagine the TBSS is rated to tow 6700 pounds, when they smoke trannies not towing anything and only around 30hp over stock. Might want to ditch the dealer rebuilds, and take it straight the Toy Shop for an overhaul (and 2600+ stall) Sorry to hear about the tranny bro.

  5. Hey man... trust me, you cant go wrong with the Toy Shop. Not only does their work kick ass, but Mike and Kendall are some of the nicest guys I have dealt with in the automotive industry period. You dont feel like you have just been bent over and stuck with a baseball bat when you walk out of there. Good luck.. I am sure the tranny will be 1000 times better than before!!!

  6. Yeah dude, 75% of those rails are driven by drunk ass morons in Glamis. My brother witnessed a lifted golf cart get T-boned by a 1000+HP rail in Glamis 3-4 years ago... not a pretty site. 2 people died... Just make sure you have a tall ass whip on the back of it so people can see you coming!!!! And have fun of course

  7. I havent driven one, one of my friends has who owns a C6 has drove one. He told me that the SRT8 handles/steers/drives/accelerates like a sports car. Coming from a guy that has a C6 with about 10K in suspension/engine mods, that is enough to tell me that the SRT8 jeep is no joke.

You do have a point with the TBSS though. I didnt know that the TBSS could tow more or have more utility than the SRT8 ? I never looked into that. That is a good reason right there. I noticed the SRT8's exhaust tips come straight out the back in the middle of the bumper, so I assume you cant put a hitch there.. where as the TBSS has the exhaust on the right side and a place for a hitch.

Anyone know what the towing capacity differences are on them both? Because I am seriously looking into trading the wifes 350Z for an SUV and she REALLY likes the SRT8 (cant sell the TBSS to her, she doesnt like em :sigh: ) because we are planning to have a kid next year. But I need something that can tow a mastercraft X-star (4250lbs).... I was hoping the SRT8 could do it?

  8. I like the TBSS and everything... but if I was in the market for a sports SUV my $40K would go to the SRT8 (sorry Chevy..) just because it is the superior performance SUV. the AWD TBSS vs AWD SRT8 it would not be a competition. Not to mention the Dodge doesnt have a weak ass 4L70E GM tranny :D

I am willing to bet that the TBSS might be able to hang a little with the SRT8, but handling wise, the SRT8 more than likely hands the TBSS its ass on a silver platter. Lets face it... Dodge has their SRT division in gear, while the SS division at Chevy is trying to sell some cool bumper and cladding packages.

Chevy really needs to ramp up the SS name... or they are better off making the SS stand for "Slow & Show"

    :sigh:

  9. we motorcross guys think of the Rhino's as dirtbikes with training wheels (and quads too) But those things are pretty sick. Just watch out... they roll over quick.. I saw one rolling down a bowl in Pismo last year ... with no one in it. I guess it rolled over the dudes ribs or something when it threw him out, and he got pretty messed up. :smash:

  10. 145 in a 45? Is this a joke? That is something you get arrested on the spot for... you have to be the biggest tool I have ever seen. If you guys think he has learned his lesson, just watch.

    Next weeks topic from 26dub_ss:

"Need advice!@! I hit someone and ran, should i turn myself in?! I dont think no one saw me!! I was only going 75 in a 45 this time!!! I dont think they died, so should i just not do anything?? thx bye"

  11. A place near Ventura I would recommend would be JPA in Chatsworth.  Also, in Van Nuys there is a place called Strictly Performance who does tuning on Granetelli Motosports (in Oxnard) AWD dyno.  Give them a try

did you get tuned on the awd dyno grranetelli? im planning on going there after i get a few things finished up to see what i can put down and go with a 2.bar, SD/maf tune.

No, but once I get my tune all squared away I want to get some numbers on the dyno also. Maybe we can get together and go there the same day.. and maybe get some SS's to meet up there then and have an 'SS Dyno day' !!

  12. i'll have to check them out im going to ventura for thanksgiving. i'd rather have it done in cali anyway cuz anything from tattoos to women are more expensive here just because its vegas. thanks for your suggestions.

    Alan

Dude I second you on the tattoos thing... I got a little work done from Hart & Huntington when I was down there.. can I saw.. RIP OFF... decent work... WAYYY too overpriced. Something like $500/hr pretty much!!! F-that

  13. Nice times man!!

If you want to dip in the 13's with that setup, You need to add some long tube headers (Dynatech or Pacesetter for example) and full 3" exhaust. That should put you at 14.2-14.3 or so (with a retune) To get you in the 13's for sure, you will need a high stall torque converter (anything over 2600 stall) and a cam. Futral motorsports can hook you up with a good cam, or talk to Zippy, he has a cam that has been proven to make some major improvements. Make sure you retune after the headers/exhaust/cam though! You should be able to hit 13.8-13.9's easy after that.
