    hahahahaha, i thought the same exact thing when i first saw that commercial. there's one up here in anchorage that has glasspacks on it. and i thought twice about racing it when we happened to be lined up.

    DAMN $2K for HID projectors? Thats a lot ! Imagine if your front end got smashed up... insurance probably wouldnt even cover that unless you had additional coverage.

     

    I like HIDs... but for that kind of money I would just get the HID kit from bgdsub for $100 or so and call it a day !!

    Riviera-- thanks for the referral to my truck man! I appreciate it.... right now the truck is just sitting and not being driven really, and I havent gotten much response for it.

     

    I will probably be putting it up for consignment at one of my customers car dealerships in Montclair.. he offers financing, so it will be sold for the KBB Retail price of $26,995.

     

    Sphint-- give me a call as soon as you get home... theres still a good chance it wont be sold!!

    I see - you're the defcon type! :lol: That's ok, don't let 'em give you any shit about your tatoos! They could suddenly come down with a mysterious email routing problem... :lol: Totally agree with you on the laser detection, it's useless IMO - it just lets you know that you better begin to pull over to the shoulder for your ticket. But when the time comes I move back into denser population I'll probably go ahead and get a Blinder.

    As far as the laser jamming goes, I was looking at a Escort ZR3 Shifter or something like that... its like $500 though and you can get in serious trouble with it. Some guys hook up kill switches to them though... it will jam the Laser and beep like crazy, they slow the fock down, then kill the jammer so the cop (or Sales Executive for the PD as i call them) gets a reading AFTER you have slowed down.

     

    Check out this link.. shows how good the jammers can work... the kill switch would let the cop get a reading once hes slowed down to legal speeds.. but you still run the risk of getting in deep sh*t if caught with it. Also shows just how fast they get your speed .. by the time your detector sees the laser, dudes already got you.

    Mr P.. I have been in the IT biz for about 10 years now... funny you mentioned you didnt pick it up but usually can, everyone always says that to me wherever I go and have worked in the past. I dont look like the average business / IT guy unless I wear my nice clothes because I am pretty tatted up (full sleeve, half sleeve and more) so I have to dress professional or else they think I am some motocross riding tattoo artist (so ive been told) ... lol. Hence the new 300C and long sleeves I sport when going to customers businesses.

     

    As far as lasers and LIDAR goes.. I just dont see how you can get a false alarm? Maybe the cop was hiding real good and painted you real fast before you saw him. Once a detector says LASER usually means you just got tagged.

     

    As far as X and K bands go.. I disabled those when I first got my Escort 8500.. the K and X bands are no longer used in Cali... I havent even seen any Ka alerts go off (havent seen any cops hiding except 2-3 so far, all LASER alerted when they checked the speed)

     

    I am sure all depts. will soon go to LIDAR guns.. because I am sure the Return of Investment is VERY high and will pay for themselves over and over again.

     

    I know if I ran a business such as a local police department, I would have all of my mobile revenuers with the latest income generating equipment in hand. More tickets = More profit

    That depends on the local municipality - lasers are expensive (compared to Ka-band units) so only the cities that have $$$ can afford them. So if you live/drive through a wealthy neighborhood with a good tax base then yeah they'll be on the roadsides using laser and I haven't seen a practical defense to it yet. A good hint is to look at the salaries they pay their I/T people!

    Well I guess they upgraded everyone down here with Laser then... havent even seen a Ka band alert since buying the detector a few weeks ago. Just LASER alerts when I see the motorcycle dudes hanging out... as far as I know, there is no defense to it unless you want to possibly go to jail.

     

    lol @ the IT salary thing.. I am in IT thats why I live out here... The LA/OC/SD areas are the place to be if your in that business. Want to move out here Mr. P? ;)

    I just bought a new Passport 8500 X50 after reading the reviews about how good it is, a little better than the V1.. .then I noticed something.

     

    ALL THE COPS ARE USING LASER!

     

    Once they lock you and get your speed, the detector flashes LASER and they already got you. I looked into a laser jammer, and its a federal crime and a FELONY to jam lasers/radar here in Cali.

     

    I havent gotten a ticket yet, but twice since buying it I was just driving along and BAM 'LASER' shows up, I look around and a motorcycle city revenuer just popped me with his Lidar gun :banghead::banghead::mad::mad:

    Why dont we tax the Iraqi people and take money out of THEIR paychecks to cover the costs of the war?

     

    The government is always looking for ways to get us to give them more of the money we earn... yet they blow TRILLIONS on this damn war while our nation's infrastructure is starting to crumble away, and yet we spend all this money to rebuild a piece of crap country that we never should have stepped foot it.

     

    I knew as soon as I saw the pics of Bush stepping his pathetic filanges on the bridge collapse disaster scene, he started brainstorming (or if you can call it that, I dont know if you can call a cornut size piece of flesh a 'brain') about ways he could capitalize and make money for him and his friends. I am sure he saw an opportunity to put blame on a tax increase of some sort, and immediately called his executive business partner Dick Cheney to broker some revenue earning contracts for themselves.

     

    Its sad it takes decades for these types of scandals to take light and people finally do anything. It only happens when former presidents are either dead, or on their death beds to hear confessions and people come out and blow the whistle on the political bullshit that happens everyday.

    Are the $100 HID's the cheaper ones? I read a couple threads on here about other users having problems with there HID's not staying on or going out all the time.

    Anyone recommend a brand or a place to purchase HID's?

     

    I bought mine off eBay from a member here, bgdsub or somthing like that.. I got the 4300k versions from him, but didnt like the yellowish look so I upgraded to the 6000k's and they worked perfect... I say do a search and get a set from him, he shipped fast and they worked awesome.

    If I lived out there I would.. i am assuming I still will have the SS for a while so I might end up going to one of those meets. I know a guy who goes to the Calabassas Supercar Sunday meets all the time so it would be pretty cool...

    From what I have heard the Pacesetters are the best bang for the buck when it comes to LTs... run dual 3" exhaust into some magnaflows and throw an X pipe on there and get it tuned for the increased flow, and 10-15+ HP would be the least power you would gain I would think
