  1. It's nice to know there are a few cool guys that drive Lightnings out there. Good run!
  2. That's not bad when you consider the LT1 was rated at 300 hp in the corvette and as stated above, they weighed a couple of thousand pounds less. You always take the chance on getting beat when you run up against a vehicle with a better horsepower to weight ratio than yours, but it's still fun to see how close you are. Now on to the next race......................
  3. Hey, it's all good. If it helps, I'll try and remember to uncheck my signature so you don't have to see a Ford................
  4. Some of my best friends are people that I ran up against, and win or lose discovered we had a lot in common. You win, I'll buy you a beer but if I win, you're buying. I've never took the "my ride is faster than yours" because there are so many guys out there running things on the street that should be on the track. But life is good and that's what really counts.
  5. Damn, I wish I was a young punk again. I visit this site, the SRT-10 truck sites, the Titan sites, hot rod truck sites and many more, and I come to learn and shoot the shit. I'm sorry if I offended you, but if that's all it takes you will need to toughen up the skin a little bit. So NICE WIN over that H-D..............
  6. I know, I've been a Chevy guy my whole life. My truck is the first Ford I've ever owned, or wanted. I just wish Chevy would throw a 427 ci engine in a regular cab and give the other trucks a run for their money, and then I would be back in one........
  7. The supercharged H-D's were only 6 psi and rated at 340 hp. If I remember right, they only ran 0-60 in something like 6.1 seconds.
  8. Sorry if you don't like what I said, but I've been a member here for over a year and a half and you've been a member here not even a month? The last time I heard it was alright for other brands of trucks to come here and shoot the shit, are you a new moderator or something? I'm not going to cry on any pillow because of anything you have to say to me. Where I come from if someone says something that needs a little clarification we speak up. And over at FordLightning.com the members bust the balls of young punks that come on and talk shit about other trucks that ain't true. I'm sure there are plenty of members here that have trucks that are faster than mine, but I'm pretty sure your not one of them..............
  9. It's all good! I'm not here to bust on anybody or their trucks. Just responding to something that I thought needed clarifying. I've been a member here for over a year and haven't been a problem before.
  10. Supercharged Lightning's were made from 1999-2004, so your wrong about the first one. And I'm not sure how many tons of trucks your talking about but I'm game to run a few. I'm not the one bad mouthing supercharged 5.4 trucks like the person that doesn't know what a supercharged H-D runs like.
  11. I have one of those weak ass superchargers on my 5.4, want to give me a try? The H-D only had a supercharger option form something like 2001-2003. The H-D's without them were dogs, so you should have won. Sounds like you need to run a real one hot rod.
  12. It's kind of funny that all three of my street motorcycles don't have any problems being on public roads without a front license plate, so why does my truck need to have one? I have never had a front plate on my 2003 Lightning and have not been pulled over for it yet. About ten years ago I was driving my Z/28 Camaro that had a black and silver front plate that read CAMARO and was pulled over for that, but was let go with a warning that I needed to put the correct one back on, which I had in the back seat floor well. I think trucks and cars look much cleaner without them. If anyone gets pulled over for it ask the officer nicely why motorcycles don't need them on the front.................
  13. I've been a die hard Chevy guy since high school and my Lightning is the first Ford I've ever owned or wanted. If Chevy would have put something out just a little more than what they did, I would be driving one of them instead.
  14. I've never come here to argue, but it appears that you do. All I was trying to convey was it takes more to launch a vehicle with an automatic transmission that to just step on the gas when the light turns green. Once the vehicle is launched and moving, then the automatic transmission takes care of the rest. Take a chill pill and relax.
  15. I started racing in 1969 in a class called Modified Production, which later evolved into Pro Stock. I know knowing about launching or racing and only come here to learn from you........................
  16. I'm not talking about massive wheel spin. Some things run better with a little wheel spin. Have you ever heard of engine bog? I can launch with no wheel spin and it gets the revs up slower than if it has a little controlled wheel spin. Do you think drag cars come out of the hole with no wheel spin. It appears you haven't spent much time at the track or you would know what I'm talking about.
  17. My brother in law owns a Tacoma, my father in law owns a Tundra and my mother in law owns an Avalon. All three own Toyota's and can't see why I don't want to drive one as well. My father in law gives me shit that his truck is a real truck and mine is not, so I tell him "mine will go 147 mph and that's real enough for me". At least my other brother in law owns a Chevy truck.
  18. I'd leave it green, as it looks pretty nice and you will probably not get that much more money for it to cover the paint job. My 1989 FXST was customized and painted by Arlen Ness' back in 1990 and I have wanted to repaint it ever since I bought it eight years ago. It's called Tangelo Pearl and I've been tempted to paint it black, but decided to leave it just the way Arlen did it before he got famous. Leave your bike green and let the new owner paint it. Below is my old FXST, not bad for an eighteen year old slammed bike..
  19. Thanks, I know how you feel about doing mods with warranty time left. I still have three years and forty-five thousand miles before my warranty expires and would hate to have to foot the bill if anything went wrong. I read a lot about Lightning owners getting greedy and going for too much boost and venting their engines. I also like that my truck idles smooth and runs great all the time, and I don't want to spend every weekend tweaking things under the hood. I have two motorcycles that are faster than my truck in the quarter mile so if I really need to go fast I can ride one of them. Below is one of them.
  20. The single cabs are the ticket, but are harder to drive than the automatic quad cabs. The hardest shift is the second to third, as the engine torquing to the right doesn't help things. I've yet to run against a single cab, as there aren't any in my area, but with my truck basically being stock, it would take a little luck and a lot of mis-driving from the single cab to pull off a win. Those SRT-10s are fast trucks and a little too expensive for me. Now if I want to invest a grand I could get mine into the high 12's pretty easily.
  21. I worked as a bartender for a few years and I've tried many pickup lines, some worked and some didn't. The results usually depended on how the girl felt about me before I even said anything. If they think you are hot, then they are just waiting for you to say something to them. If they don't want anything to do with you then it really doesn't matter what pickup line you use. If I felt I had a chance I would sometimes use the old line form that country music song, "If I told you you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me" and smile at them in an innocent sort of way. That line not only starts out with you complimenting them, but also leaves the door open in case they were hoping for more.
  22. I work outdoors for a parks department. That's my son with me in the picture below.
