  1. Wow, that's showing him...........................
  2. You forgot "Fastest On Race Day"................
  3. I used to ride horses as a kid, plus my high school girl friend was really into riding and I went on a lot rides with her. I think I'll pass on getting acquainted with your horse's ass, but thanks for the offer...................
  4. Hey, I like the looks of the SSS trucks, I just wanted one with a supercharger.........
  5. Here is a video of a guy hitting 157 mph against a head wind on the Autobahn. No, it's not a SRT-10..... http://www.f150online.de/andre.wmv
  6. Is that the sound from under a horse's tail?????????
  7. I thought he was talking to me.......................
  8. I don't care if it's an old man trying to beat me to the front of the line at the local burger joint, if he busts a move to try to get in front of me when I was there first, he's fair game........
  9. I know the feeling, I had some a-hole driving like an idiot cutting back and forth across all lanes of city traffic and then he cuts me off and tries to out run me onto the freeway. I didn't let that happen, but I felt like I was taking candy from a baby since he was driving a new Prius......
  10. Cool! It's all good...................
  11. Watch out for those things, I read they do 0-60 in 8.8 seconds and they have 185 hp........
  12. The Generation II Lightning was produced for six years and they made around 30,000. I'm not knocking the SRT-10, as they are nice trucks, but if you compared the percentage of Lightning owners that have got down into those numbers verses the percentage of SRT-10 owners, I bet the Lightnings' have a higher percent. From what I've read on the SRT-10 forums, it not only takes some big bucks to get a SRT-10, it also takes big bucks to make them even faster. If I was a millionaire I would own a SSS and a SRT-10, but since I'm not, I picked the truck that was best suited for what I wanted. I still give SSS and SRT-10s a look when I see them, as to me they are nice trucks as well.
  13. Your right, mine has a CAI, a Predator tune and after market exhaust, but stock pullies, so it's a nice daily driver that I don't have to worry about. I've been on a few Lightning forums watching the other Lightning owners for a couple of years and once they start modifying their trucks they can't stop. They say the lightnings' are good for around 450-500 rwhp before you have to start worrying about the rods, but I'm happy with the way mine runs and that's all that matters. Below are a couple of links where the owners went beyond the normal mods. http://media.putfile.com/chads980 http://video.lightningrodder.com/video/216...881000085ca.htm
  14. They hold up fine if you leave them stock. Mine is warrantied to 7 years and 75,000 miles, so Ford isn't that worried about them coming apart. They do need some work when you hit the bigger horsepower numbers that most Lightning owners are after, but for a stock truck with only minor mods it has held up just fine, and I flog it every time I get a chance that's safe.
  15. It didn't help that the Lightning driver was asleep at the wheel when the light turned green. I would bet there are more 10, 11 & 12 second Lightnings out there than there are 10, 11, & 12 second SRT-10s. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/5e24d50...88000dedbb0.htm
  16. So was mine....................
  17. No it wasn't, but it was the same color. The only reason I posted it was the SRT-10 quad cab running a F-150 4X4 was like taking candy from a baby, not even a close match. Any truck can be beat, and my Lightning is also one of them.
  18. Come on, that wasn't a fair race and you know it. How about making it a little closer, like with this SVT F-150:

    SRT-10

Thanks, if it wasn't for my wife getting on me about us needing a truck, I probably never would have bought it.

    SRT-10

SRT-10s, Chevy SS's, Ford Lightings' and others are nice trucks. Aren't we all into hot rodding? I guaranty you that someday you might run into someone that has a faster ride. Now let's all start bitching about the price of gas instead.............
  21. Hey Krambo, most of the guys over there are pretty cool and will treat you with respect. But like most forums, there are a few that think their poop don't stink and talk crap. Your truck should be able to give some of them a lesson on modded Chevy's, including mine, if you run 11's. It's good they know that there are trucks out there besides SRT-10s that they need to worry about............
  22. It's cool that you won but too bad you have to state it like that I think sometimes people get carried away and don't really mean what they say. If I see a nice truck of any brand I think "cool, what a nice truck", but just because I didn't buy one like that I never hate the company that makes them. Different is good. Just think of how boring it would be if we all drove the same trucks.
  23. They are definitely quick. And I gotta say, that is one GOOD looking Ford you have there. I really like the smooth bodywork and those IROC Z looking wheels. That's my favorite style of wheel. Your's is very tastefully done, and judging from your HP and TQ numbers, I'm sure it rips. But, it is definitely a specialty vehicle. I would not get one because I need the back seat, some towing capability, and some off road capability (which is also why I'm not driving an SS). The lightning is a bit like the SSR to me. I need a truck for different things. I always wanted an SS, but I also wanted a Z71, but thought the Z71 was short on power and the SS was short on trucklike capabilities. I was so glad when they put out the Vortec MAX truck. It was like the product of an SS and Z71 spending too much time together Oh, and I occasionally pick on the F-150s too. I know that in stock form they aren't very fast. I guess I'm a schoolyard bully I don't think I'd pick on a Lightning. Although I am curious how much one would smoke me Mike Hey Mike, It sounds like you got exactly the truck you wanted and needed. For years I've been towing my jet ski and dirt bikes on a 1000 lb max load trailer with my SUV, and it has worked perfect for that, but for some reason my wife felt we needed a truck to pick things up at the nursery, home depot, that kind of stuff and this truck does that. It has a Rhino Liner in the bed and has a hauling pay load of 1375 lbs and is rated to tow 5,000 lbs, so I can still use it as a light truck. And when your driving it and not into boost, it feels like a stiffly sprung F-150 and is really pretty nice. It's not for everybody that's for sure, but for those that want something like it, it rocks. Most Lightning owners are good guys, just like most of the guys on this site, so if you ever run into one, ask him to give you a shot, I'm sure he will by happy to oblige you. If you're ever in the Bay Area I could meet you at Infinion Raceway in Sonoma CA and we could burn rubber and have some fun. Take Care, Matooch.................
  24. I hear you, but one of the reasons I bought my truck was that it already had all the tranny and rear end stuff you needed for a supercharger. It's all good............... i would of done the same thing. but did you trade in your sss for the lightning? thats one move i wouldn't of made. No, I didn't. My wife wanted me to buy us a truck and the first thing I did was look at the SS. It was back when they were in the $40,000 + range, and while searching for trucks I stumbled upon my Lightning. I also looked at a Joe Gibbs truck, but it was all the way across the country and was also way more money than my truck. To tell the truth I never even heard of a Lightning before I bought mine. Since I already had a SUV, I really didn't need the back seat that the SS came with and after test driving the Lightning I decided to get. It turned out to be a lot less expensive than what I could get an SS for and it was pretty quick for a truck. If you are happy with your SS then keep it and enjoy it, as they really are nice trucks.
