Unfortunately i have no pics of the engine bay after i had a local shop wire up a new amp/head unit. I have a suspicion, because i had to have them redo it a couple of times, that they somehow wired through the grommet and too close to the master cylinder. After a fire like that, even an experienced fire inspector could not say why, only where, the fire started. My only advice outside of what you've already done is to carry a fire extinguisher. Hope you find the problem.

Thats what i'm looking at. I just don't trust what he says. He'd tell me anything to sell it. No really, he has some info on it, but these are the things that really matter to me. I want ipod, Nav is plus/minus, i like the factory look and i would like to use other amps although i may not need to. I really like the Pioneer avh-p4100 i had in my firetruck ss but that one didn't make it through the inferno. BTW, sorry i missed the little GTG with you guys. Sounded fun.

I'm looking at a GM Nav touchscreen unit for my 05 SSS. Does anyone have any experience with this unit ?? If so, i'd really like to hear from you. 1. Is there a direct ipod hookup to this unit? 2. Will the ipod display info on the screen? 3. I have the bose setup, but can you also use aftermarket amps for door speakers and sub enclosure? 4. Are there any issues with install i should know about ahead of time or simple plug n play? Thanks for any inptut..

I've searched the previous posts and need some help as i don't think my situation was covered recently. I need an instrument cluster for an 05 SSS. There is no extended warranty on the vehicle. It has 85,000 miles so for that reason, as well as the fact that 05 is not covered in the GM recall, i need to come up with a solution. Whether i replace it with an aftermarket, repair this one or anything else, i need to get this taken care of. I really don't want to shell out the $550 plus that the dealership wants to replace it. I'd appreciate any input or ideas for this situation.
