  1. Thanks Black......I see he uses HP Tuners Pro, I'm sure that's the software maybe he did his own tune? I'll try and give him a shout and see what I can learn. His truck is exactly like mine but I'm AWD.....from a dead stop my truck launches well and my 0-60 time is right at 5.5 seconds bone stock. I don't know what it will run on the track in a 1/4 mile, yet since it only has 770 miles on it I have not done much other than drive it the last week. Problem seems to be mostly when it's rolling and I get on it, she stumbles and seems to be lagging between shifts or seems to want to drop to first gear and over rev causing the engine to stumble. I read a post at GM-Trucks Online where another guy had similar issues with his 2008 Denali and had it tuned by a Corvette guy who solved the problem and gave the truck a lot more go. I e-mailed this tuner and I'm waiting to see what he can do.
  2. Anybody out there tuning the new 6.2L (I think it's an L92) with a 6L80E 6 speed auto....it's also AWD???? I'm a little disappointed in my new purchase....this Denali CC/SB supposed to be 400+hp straight from GM but my 2006 Denali VMax seemed faster?!?! Maybe it was the 4.10 gears in the old truck, but so far I'm not that impressed and I'm leary about pulling along side a Dodge Hemi these days!!! A Corsa Sport might make its way onto this truck and maybe a Volant CAI but I'm still thinking their is something wrong with the factory programming and have had my dealership looking at it (second time and only 770 miles on the odo!).
  3. The Corsa Sport is sweeeettt.....can't wait to buy another one for my latest ride but I'm trying to get some GM 6L80E issues resolved by my dealer before I make any mods to the NEW Denali! Kellyperformance........are you doing any tuning on the 6.2L or know anybody who is?
  4. I did just this a week ago and swapped my 2006 VMax GMC Denali SB/CC for a brand new 6.2L Denali and so far I'm not that impressed! However, I just got thru my 500 mile break-in and it does not have any mods yet....I'm debating on the Corsa Sport because the factory exhaust has about the same rumble and sound as my previous Corsa Sport on the old 06....I'm also second guessing the install of an aftermarket CAI since my Outlaw didn't make much dif on my old 06 VMax!!! So far this 6 speed auto seems to be a bit odd....shifting is very erratic, it is causing the 6.2L to stumble as if it can't find a gear or is between gears and telling the engine to wait a moment! Example, yesterday I was merging onto the highway and was moving at 40-45 mph and when I floored it (WOT) it felt like it went down to 1st gear for a split second....engine redlined then felt as if it went to 4th gear and the engine almost died! Needless to say the 18 wheeler that was doing 65 mph next to me wasn't impressed with my new truck and neither was I....I went to the dealership and had them take a look at the programming and they said everything was fine. When I explained the problem to the tech he said this was common for a clutch to clutch type transmission and that would need to accelerate gradually without going WOT!!! After a few 4 letter words and a WTF are you smoking I told him I might just trade this lemon in if that's the case. So far I'm not impressed with this 400 hp **** cat and its 6 spd auto.....maybe I need to find a good tuner?!?!
  5. The Corsa Sport has a great sound at WOT and is fairly mellow inside the cab....u will love it! I was at Bike Week in NC this weekend and took the VMax Denali on the "Tail of the Dragon" and got a lot of stares from the Harley guys when I rumbled past! 318 twisting turns in 11 miles....bikers love this road and the Denali liked it too but I think I need new brakes now?!?! Can u say 16" Wilwoods????
  6. can't speak for the Cobra but my VMax didn't seem any different when I added the Outlaw CAI....and it was added after my Corsa Sport! I'm talking seat of the pants here, I don't have dyno or track times to compare with or without?!?! I did not have any change in noise level over stock compared to the CAI's I've seen on the Ricers.....my nephew put one on his RSX and it is soooo lound it sounds like his muffler fell off!
  7. The Dodge Hemi's & "cute" little Dakota RT's around SW Ohio are skeered of one BIG BLACK CC/SB VMaxDenali....spankings will continue on a routine basis if they insist on getting next to the mighty GMC!!! I love the look on the face of some "boy" driving dad's 2004 GTO the other day when my chrome grille came crawling up into his back window he thought he'd crank on the throttle and walk away but I kept pushing him up to about 90mph when he lost his nerve Nice Kill's guys love to read these stories!
  8. When I was doing my research K&N's tech support engineer helped me decide.....I was considering the K&N with an aluminum intake tube, the engineer said don't do it stick with plactic....I asked about the open element vs a box and the K&N engineer said the factory box was better than an open element because it is a true CAI. I went with the Outlaw and have been completely satisfied......didn't notice any "seat of the pants" gains nor was there any increase in noise level....but I feel better that my wallet is lighter and I can tell my buddies it has an Outlaw CAI!!!!!
  9. First thing I'd try is a tire rotation and go 125mph again and see if anything changes! Might need a rebalance.....high speed balance if you can find a good place that can do a balance at 100mph or higher! I have 4.10 gears in my Denali and it rides on factory 20's....Goodyear Eagle LS if memory serves me.....these tires really suck and I have all sorts of funny vibrations and noises from these tires and only have 5000 miles on my truck! At 100mph....hits the speed limiter @ 101.....my 4.10 gears are really "humming" so you could be hearing gear whine galore at 125mph!?!? This does not explain the vibration, however! I'm seriously thinking about going to 18" wheels and tires for my truck this summer....I love the looks of 20's & 22's but I'm concerned these sizes will present too many vibration issues at high speed. If any of you have evidence to the contrary let me know what tire & wheel combo you have. Everyone tells me they have vibration issues on "cold" 20's & 22's but it typically goes away as they warm up.....mine are really bad in the cold, too! They wheel hop something fierce on an uneven highway pavement as well. Maybe it is simply my GOODYEAR'S and I'm considering BFG G-Forces once I hit the lottery!
  10. kao, just sent you a pm about that 3"/3" drop kit for the GMC Denali.....looking for a part number for the kit or for the axle flip! Thanks....... Jeff
  11. I put the Corsa Sport on my CC VMax Denali last July and didn't have any clearance issues....it took longer to cut the tailpipe with the DeWalt Recip saw than to hang the new Corsa! It does sound nice and turns a lot of heads when it hits WOT....so fun!
  12. I'm thinkin the 4.56 gears might be a more streetable approach for a daily driver....I'm not as young as I used to be
  13. I hear ya CHASE....I've been seriously considering a 2" drop all around and buying a set of 17's or 18's for playing with (just to see if I like) before going the gear swap route! Excellent, point but 20's look soooo sweet on my ride....not wild about the 22's or 24's I see on trucks guess I ain't mastered the shoulder lean?!?!
  14. I've noticed several of you guys say to change the rear diff fluid at 500 miles.....I've gone thru my owners manual and see nothing about this 500 mile breakin change?!?! Maybe its because my truck is AWD and not 2WD? Where did this come about....maybe some drag racers lore like changing your engine oil as soon as you get the car or truck home to remove the "breakin oil" the factory put in the engine?!?!?! Please enlighten me....I've got about 2100 miles on my new Denali CC/SB and I sure would hate to mess up my gears!
  15. Is your truck AWD or 2WD with those 4.88's? What size wheels & tires you running? My AWD is currently running factory 4.11's on factory 20's and I was thinking of going to 4.56's but these 4.88's sound like the route to take! Top end is way overrated in a "street fight" anyway.....I used to have a 68 GTO "daily driver" that ran a 400 ci, 12 to 1 CR and had 5:13 gears on MT cheater slicks (fun to drive in the rain)....wasn't a street car on the road that could take the goat from light to light or the 1/2 mile stretch of race track (I mean road) leading outta town! On the highway I'd keep her at 65-70 mph all day long and could break the tires loose between 2nd and 3rd (built 400Turbo)....that was a fun "street fighter" back in 1988 & 89 BK (before kids)!!!
  16. Does anyone know the difference between the AWD systems that have Low Range & Stabilatrac vs. the AWD system on the SS or my Denali Truck? Let me explain....my 2004 Chevy Tahoe has AWD with Stabilatrac and a Low range button on the dash. It also allows me to disengage the Stabilitrac if I'm so inclined. My new 2006 GMC Denali cc/sb truck is simply AWD, no Stabilatrac or Low Range. So my question is, Are these the same transfer cases or not? I know GM does some goofy stuff like use the same transfer cases but doesn't provide the switch! I'd like to LOW Range in the Denali and I'm wondering if it is as simple as adding the switch pod in that "empty vertical void" on the left side of the dash (where my Tahoe has a switch pod!).....anybody have any experience with both systems? Might be a totally different Transfer Case, too.....the Stabilatrac supposedly has the ability to shift power fore and aft and wheel to wheel as traction is lost. I can tell you all this.....the 2004 AWD Tahoe will out handle the 2006 Denali CC/SB on any surface under any conditions and it ain't because the Denali is longer! This Stabilatrac is the shiznit for improved handling and cornering IMHO....it takes some getting used to like ABS did for those of us who learned to drive before ABS was invented....oopps there goes my age showing! When the front wheels on the Hoe start breaking loose in a sharp turn at way too much speed and the brake pedal begins pulsing even though your on the gas and you feel this over weight turd starting righting itself you will appreaciate Stabilatrac! I know I shouldn't drive the Hoe or any SUV like it's my wife's WRX but it's FUN!
  17. Answered my own question by going to Hypertech's website.....seems I have an early revision manual and the latest one is dated 8/23/05 available on their website with info on the fan settings!
  18. I picked up a used Hypertech Power Programmer III (Part #30032) for "CHEAP" that a guy bought for his 2006 Suburban but quickly found out it wasn't the right model.....guess he couldn't return it to the ebayer who sold it to him? Anyway, my manual doesn't mention programming the fans??? Can either of you guys tell me what manual you have? Mine says "PP4" in the upper right hand corner and is dated 6/10/05 in the lower left corner. I hope to try programming this weekend if I get time....it's bow season here in Ohio and getting close to pre-rut so I'm spending a lot of time hanging from a tree and tweaking on the truck is low priority! (That is sure to generate some negative comments......no offense guys!).
  19. Does your "little over $8G" include a brand new "built" transmission? This package includes the complete engine & transmission.....how much could I sell a bone stock LQ9 6.0L, lets use my 2006 for example with 2000 miles on it, complete with transmission??? I'm guessing at least $5500.....their's an LQ4 on ebay complete with tran & 60,000 miles for sale by a boneyard for $6500...so I may be a little conservative with my $5500 figure!?!? My point is for under $3000 one could be pushing a NA 475HP 6.0L down the road. Now if you want to go the supercharger route and get a solid 450HP from your otherwise stock LQ9 your looking at a bit over $5G's. Just food for thought.....I'm not suggesting this is for everybody and I'm sure somebody on this site knows a guy who knows a guy who can get________ for _________.....you can fill in the blanks!
  20. tb, How much for a kit to fit my 2006 GMC Sierra Denali with LQ9 6.0L? Does your kits come with air intake tubes to fit my stock CAI?
  21. some of us don't have clutch fans I think complete engine & transmission was $8G's??? Better double check my numbers to make sure by visiting their website. Just visited the Lingenfelter site too....remember these guys who built those twin turbo vette's??? Anyway they have a 475HP package for $8G's which consists of a supercharger, injectors, reprogram, tune and dyno all installed at that price.....now if you want a full 500HP package is goes for almost $16G's!!! Double the price to tweek out 25 more HP!?!? WOW! www.lingenfelter.com and go to their "packages" page.
  22. This info comes fromhiltonmotorsports.com 435 HP / 425 lb. ft. TQ 6.0L LQ9 The 435 HP engine is equipped the same as Special #4 plus! This is how we make 435 HP: The stock 6.0L LQ9 engine with 10:1 CR makes 345HP The Z06 designed heads receive hand ported runners and bowls plus they receive a 3-angle valve job +25HP A new Z06 Hi Perf cam and valve springs +35HP A new 2002 Z06 designed intake manifold +10HP Computer re-programming +20HP Stage 2 will deliver 475HP: Bigger cam ARP rod bolts Ported Z06 oil pump Additional head porting Not bad for a NA 6.0L LQ9, huh???
  23. saleen, how is that hyper handheld working out for you?
  24. I have the Corsa Sport on my GMC VMax Denali Crewcab and the outlet looks the same as "misterp" pics. I love the Corsa Sport on my truck it is awesome @ WOT and not extremely loud in the cab at idle or cruising speed. It really turns heads when I open her up and I what I love most is the sound is bearable for a daily driver!
  25. How was the installation? Everything fit the stock cat pipes okay?
