  1. I had a 68 Mustang in high school and my first mod was some traction bars. I put them on backwards and drove the car for months before some guy at a gas station walked over and asked me what I was thinking! The only thing that made me feel better was that I couldn't really tell a difference when I put them on the right way anyway!
  2. Looks nice! I was wondering how a black bowtie w/ a black truck would look and I think it looks sweet! Can you tell me where ya got the parts from?
  3. I have a pretty hard 1-2 shift as well...especially under part throttle. The truck has a built tranny though, and with the Radix added on, I'm afraid to mess with the tranny too much to bring it back to a softer shift. I bought the truck this way, and it isn't too bad...but if I'm in traffic, the 1-2 shift does get old pretty quick.
  4. OK...more clone pics coming up!!! It was my pride and joy 99....in some ways, due to the mods, I think it was sharper looking than my new 05, but there was one big problem....it had a 4.8 and was way too slow...especially with the 20" SS wheels. The rollpan and tonneau cover was pretty slick...and the front end almost seemed cleaner compared to the updated style. However, I'm very happy to have the REAL thing and I do see quality improvements on the 05. This engine rocks and it is very nice to have 4 doors instead of 3 as well! Check out the painted dash....
  5. Man...I'm happy when I see 12.0 or higher! I think my tune must be running really rich or is this normal for a Radix truck? (I'm usually operating out of boost in mostly highway driving....)
  6. Yeah..mine doesn't feel like it is pushing out very cold air at all. Sometimes when I first start up it feels like it is just ambient air. My 99 Silvy used to freeze me and worked really good, so there must be something wrong. I'm curious if anyone else with a Radix has less effective A/C or if my truck is just in need of service?? I'm a little leary about taking the truck into the dealer though....I'm sure they would beat the truck hard on a "test drive" once they see the blower.
  7. Quote: If you get into it then Z6 is great it is like a candy shell for your car <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is a perfect description of what it looks like....a hard black candy shell! The more I see the truck, the more I'm impressed with Zaino. Mother's/Maguires never produced the look that Zaino has. Hard to tell in pics, but in person you can see the difference.
  8. I've always been a big fan of Mother's products. I used their claybar/wax kit on other vehicles. Zaino polish is in a much different league (so is the price )....however, the claybar stuff itself was the same as Mother's. Mother's is much quicker to use, but you get a deeper, richer shine with Zaino and I'll be interested to see how it holds up after the daily rainshowers down here.
  9. It is kinda... Actually, a better shade of blue, and actual SS wheels instead of those ugly Xsclade ones, and I think it would've looked alot better!
  10. Well, tried Zaino for the first time. Did the wash, claybar, Z5/Z6, and then repeated the coats twice. My arm is tired!!! I took some pics of the beast! I also threw a pic in of my previous 99 Silverado that I had...it had lots of work done to update the look. I sort of miss the painted tonneau cover/wing that it had, but it was just more to wax and keep clean! My neighbors are convinced I stole my old truck back. I'm thinking about painting the front billet emblem SS letters black. What do ya think? The Zaino is incredible at showing reflections. This pic was after the first coat:
  11. I think well-done flames are pretty cool on the right vehicle. This one looks like they went with too much white in the front, but overall I think there are much worse SS's out there?
  12. That thing is for sale in my area of south FL. You see alot of weird looking cars/trucks down here!!
  13. Thanks for the welcome guys! Seems like a great forum with great people. I need to update a sig on here, but I'm waiting for a half-decent day to try to Zaino the truck for the first time. I'm not looking forward to the process, but I am looking forward to the results!
  14. Well, my truck is on the third tranny since the Radix install...however the second tranny failed due to faulty installation.
  15. I've had all 3...a 99 (although w/ the 4.8) Silverado, a 2000 Lightning, and now an 05 SS. Even with my Radix and quite a few mods, my SS still feels slower than my Lightning did. However the Lightning was not stock either (pulley, chip, intake, exhaust) and I'm sure it was much lighter being a 2-door standard cab truck compared to the 4-door SS. I don't think you can compare the two performance-wise. A closer matchup would be the SS vs. the Harley-Dav model. My take---if you just want raw performance in a pickup truck--it is hard to beat the L or the Ram for that matter. If you want the utility of 4-doors+AWD+ALOT MORE ROOM--get the SS. One another note....I think a modded SS has an initial advantage vs a L due to the traction with AWD. Before, I could never punch it and hook up....I had to feather on the gas or it would spin like crazy. Also, it is tempting to base a decision on which is faster, but I would look at the day-to-day advantages....not who might come out first in the unlikely event you might roll up on a Lightning one day at a stoplight.
  16. Must be the limited edition!!
  17. I'm taking the truck to Accessory Depot in Miramar tomorrow to have them look it over and tell me what all I need to spend money on...lol They built a mean black SS show truck (over 100k invested), but I don't think they do tuning. I am AWD. It is a great feeling to be able to punch it and hook. I had a Lightning and you had to feather the gas on forever until the truck could take enough boost and still hook up!
  18. Hello everyone! Just bought a truck from a forum members (SS--BLOWN) and wanted to say hello! It is a 2005 SS w/Radix and all the typical mods. He kept it in very nice condition and was a great guy to deal with! I'm curious if there are many forum members from the South Florida area? Anyone go to the Tower Shops on Friday night? Anyway, I'm looking forward to adding to the forum. I'm sure I'll ask some dumb questions for a while, but I promise to occasionally use the search button!!
  19. Hello! I'm new to the forum and I bought a forum members' (SS--BLOWN) 2005 SS truck. The truck has a Radix, new tranny, converter etc..... My question is if anyone knows of a good local tuner in South Florida to modify the PCM?? The truck runs great but the 1-2 shift is too firm for me (I know...I am a wuss!), and I'd like to scale it down a little....hopefully through the tune rather than taking out the shift kit in the tranny. Thanks for your help!
