  1. I'm looking to do the Z06 brake conversion, but I have a question about which calipers to use. I see that the Z06 comes with two brake options - the J56 RPO which uses with the calipers shown on page 1 of this thread and 14" x 1.25" steel rotors, and J57 RPO which uses slightly different calipers made by Brembo and larger 15" x 1.328" Carbon Ceramic rotors. My question is, would the Brembo calipers work with this bracket? Or would the caliper sit too far out since it was originally designed to be used with 15" rotors, while the base Z06 was designed for a 14" rotor? I'm thinking that since the base Z06 calipers originally used 14" rotors but they fit best with 15" rotors on this truck, would a 16" rotor be ideal (like the ones used in the Wilwood kit which are 16"x1.38") with the Brembo calipers since they are used with a 15" rotor on the Z06? Or do you think the Baer 15" rotors would still work okay? Has anyone tried them?

I found a place where I can get all 4 of the Brembo calipers for $1,000 which is about what I can find the base Z06 calipers for, and I like the looks of the Brembos better so I'd rather go with those if they will work.

The ones on the bottom are not z06 calipers, they are used on the zr1. Those won't work for this application. You need the J56.
  2. I'm seriously debating it but I'm not sure it's a good choice financially. So I have a new 2016 tundra trd pro with only 5k miles cool truck just not my style. I only owe 25k on it and could probably sell it for 40k buy the ss for 15k and boom no truck payments! But the ss as my dd I would have to be careful with it having 80k miles. My last 03 silverado ss had 96k miles supercharged and I was just starting to have problems when I sold it. What should I do?!?! I have a ss problem that needs itched.

I'd keep the tundra probably. I just got a 2017 tacoma trd pro and couldn't be happier! Good luck either way man.

  3. eh, it's the Pioneer AVH-X1500DVD which appears to be a 2013 model. Got good ratings (4.5 on Crutchfield) and it's in perfect shape, I dunno if I'd sell it as it would cost a bunch more to replace it with anything similar. Seems they're still selling new for about $225 and used for around $100+.

It works fine but I guess I'd be a little happier with it if I got a steering wheel control adapter and probably replace the chime adapter. The big thing though is it just doesn't sound that great. Am I correct in thinking the factory speakers are a bad match for aftermarket units?

I'm not looking to do a crazy install on the truck, or even a semi-crazy one. I'm done with that kind of stuff for the most part. I just want it to sound good (which I think it -could-), get reasonably loud, and have a non-ipod aux input. So far it's just got the aux part covered for me. ;)

You cannot use stock speakers with an aftermarket radio, it will NEVER sound good in these trucks. Bose sets up that system very specific. I would either get a 4 channel amp and new speakers, or go back to a stock head unit. Would sound much better.
  4. Hard to guesstimate without pictures but, if the wheels and OEM center caps are near mint they may go as high as $11 - $1200.

The tires have 1/2 or less of their life left. If you can find a local buyer, the package might be worth $12 - $1400.

Shipping will be easier, and cheaper without the tires mounted.

Like he said. Also, area is gonna make a difference. In Texas, I would say probably like 1000.
  5. After freaking 15min of trying to get the clip back on the brake pedal it shot across the underside of the dash and I couldn't find it. Luckily I picked up the clip from the Tahoe donor on my way home yesterday. Going to put it on tonight or tomorrow. There is a little hesitation in the pedal. You can push down and its like an inch or so play before it clamps. But it feels like it is going to clamp pretty hard. What do I do about the electronic plug that was on the vac. booster?

Pretty much everyone I have heard said they had that little bit of play too after doing the conversion.
