  1. well the truck is still a work in progress. My friend made a mistake and painted parts on the truck seperate which he has done before and thought it would be ok, but it did not turn out so well. Several of the parts did not match exactly so he is going to have to basically re-paint the entire truck.

I guess this color is extremely hard to match. So when he put all the parts back together he could tell the difference in the color of the different panels. Just the exterior of the truck will need to be re-painted. The door jams, under hood, and interior are all close enough you wont be able to tell the difference.

So it looks like it might be a little longer before its done.

  2. Hey Dan; Congratulations on your first child.

Until I read about the coming baby, I was surprised that you were trading away the HD. You were just getting that personalized to your liking. The trade makes perfect sense considering.

That's a pretty sweet looking Yukon. I've been looking at those some myself, lately. It aught to do real good for young-uns and dogs.

Did you get a good deal on it?

Yeah we got a decent deal. It has 120k miles but it is in pretty good shape. Most of the ones in the area had more miles and were more money.

I was going to trade in my truck, but the dealership was not willing to give me enough so I walked away. Then that night my Wife was chatting with her brother and we mentioned I was going to sell my truck, and He said he would take it. So we went back to the dealership and bought the Denali

Its going to be a great truck for my brother in law. He is in the airforce and stationed in Japan, but will be going to Idaho in Feburary and he wanted a truck. I just rolled over 73k in the HD and all of the aftermarket stuff I have already done attracted him to the truck even more

  3. So I just picked up a new ride this weekend. The wife and I have been talking about doing this for a while now and finally found a pretty good deal.

We just got a 2007 Yukon Denali. So far I am really liking it. I am selling my HD to my brother in law. It was a hard decison but I think in a long run its the right choice. My wife and I are finally expecting out first child, and I figured a Yukon would be a great rig for hauling kids and our dogs. This will be the first time since I turned 16 that I have not had a pickup as my main vehicle. The Denali is mainly going to be my wifes car and I will drive the BMW as my daily.

  4. I'll bet it's nice to see the motor back in there. Frame looks good with the shiny paint.

Are you leaving the drum brakes on up front?

For now. Since it is a 3/4 ton 8-lug it is much harder to get parts for disc brakes. I have found 1 kit online but it is $1,200. I guess you can also use parts from the 73-87 body styles as well. I guess sometime in the 80's they when to front discs on the 3/4 tons.

My plan for the future is to eventually swap out the axles to 5 or 6 lug. Not only will it then be easier to do disc brakes, but then I will have a million more wheel options.

  5. The body is back on the freshly painted frame

The paint work is almost all done. My friend has to do a little bit of work on one of the fenders. He was not 100% happy with the way it turned out. Then he will put the fenders back together, then the hood, and glass, then he will deliver it to me.

    Its getting closer and closer
