  1. Don't understand why you need to stay factory. There are a boatload of great alternator manufacturers out there. Mechman, DC power, excessive amperage, singer. What amp and inverter are you running? A 15 amp jump isn't much of crap. What makes you think you need a bigger alternator at that?

  2. I have had ddms for years now. 3 different cars and I had some trouble with their old thick ballasts after having them for 2 years. Customer service was great and they gave me the option to pay 10$ more to get some slim ballast instead of them replacing the thick ones. Ebay are bullshit. Ddm is definitely middle of the road when it comes to hids.

  3. No spare here. I make sure I carry a tire plug kit and a small cigarette lighter air compressor for that blue moon nail in tire moments. I noticed after so long the times when I actually needed my spare, I went to grab it and it would be flat...

  4. Clean truck. Hate to see those blacked out tails leave. They add to the whole red and black theme big time.

I am in the same boat with worry of getting rear ended. Mine look the same. Tempted to get some black back smoked led ones off flea bay.

  5. Back a year or two after I got my vmax, I pulled up to a light with the Harley ford f150. We went from the light and were neck and neck till right into third gear. I was completely stock. Like 65-75. By then we let off and at the next light I asked if it was supercharged. The guy didn't really want to answer but did with a pethetic yes. Don't know what's good at interstate speeds though.

  6. The ferret thing was pretty funny. Kidding though, I knew what you were getting at.

Caps are not used to unload faster than batts. A cap is "supposed" to be used to prevent voltage spikes. And the reason the voltage is spiking is because there is not enough juice to back the system to begin with. A cap in the sense of a regular non competition burp system is a bandaid. If you have the batteries and a HO alternator then you will never drop voltage.

If anything a cap is taking power from your system because after it drains in that 1 second, it is having to charge back up.

Only reason people use it for competition is because even 5 batteries and HO alternators cant sustain 10k + watts for 30 seconds. So in addition to a huge battery bank they use supercaps to try and help out. After they make their numbers and do their run, they have to charge those things with no music on.

Not trying to talk down or anything. I just hate when Joe schmo says he needs a cap on his flea market amp to help with voltage fluctuation. You are not Joe schmo, it was an example.

  7. Ferrets? 40 ferrets in your truck? I'm majorly confused!

LOL ferrets! That truck must be stinky.

I'm not a fan of capacitors. I would rather stack batteries and have constant awesome voltage and never have a drain. For competition burp set ups, capacitors are really awesome. That is, supercapacitors.

  8. Off topic but I recently had my water pump changed like a week ago on my ss and they also said my clutch fan was not working so I told them ok put a new one on. Now when I start my truck the fan seems loud when I take off it get louder, Im not sure if its getting quieter after driving a while as I have not drove it to much recently because I need new wheel hub shocks and valve covers. Anyways is this normal for my fan to sound like a jet engine.

LOL where did this come from? Thought this was a steering thread.
