THey put the sub further away so they have time to fully develop the sound wave before it gets to you! The set up rocks.. I would not go back to putting them in the cab in any truck I own!!!! It is very water tight and has not leaked at all. Ill see how it does in winter. with the freezing and thawing, but so far it is working great!!
