Yates Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 I don't know if anyone else had kept up with the topic of the SS'S in Ky but we talked about a get together and I suggested one here in Bowling Green at the Corvette Museum and maybe go to Beech Bend Raceway. Well this is what I found out I went to the museum today and they were interested in letting us have one they said they knew Mervz also. Well they gave me several ideas of what we could do like tour the museum and tour the Corvette plant. What I need to know though is who would be interested and try to figure out a weekend to have it on so we can all get there and they can accomodate us. As far as Beech Bend I still have not got anywhere but the guy at the museum said that when they rent the track it like $2500.00 for 4 hrs so I am not sure on that yet I am going to try to get in touch with the owner once we can try to get a date and time going. It don't have to be just us Kentuckians, I want to try to see who all is interested. So give me some input please so I can do some talking. Thanks Jim. I could kill two birds with one stone and vist my family while I'm there. I miss Bowling Green. I was born there and lived there till I was about 11 years old. I got a listing of all their events thru next year also, it may have to end up being sometime in spring if I cant get it all worked out before it gets cold. I just need to know about how much interest we have. I have talked to a guy who I work with about dee-jaying for us maybe he has his own dj business and I still need to talk to a guy I know that has a concession business also. From what I am looking at I believe we may have a chance on Oct,20,21,22 and Nov 3,4,5. I think. That is probably what we have b4 it gets cold. Renting the track would be killer also , but we would need at least 25 people (100.00 each) for it to be reasonable I think. Anyway, If I can be any help let me know. J. Yates Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 Ok everyone I have emailed the lady at the museum about trying for a get together on Oct,20,21,22. I think it will include a tour of the museum and the corvette plant. I wont know anything till I hear back but I have to have some feedback of how many are interested in coming and try to get the dates that we can all make it . As far as the track I still haven't made contact with the owner but I am still trying. Hang in there I am doing the best I can between working 12 hr shifts.
