jboyss
Well i floored it when the light turned green, spun all 4 and then let off and the tensioner went bye bye. Fn POS you'd think they could have made it a little stronger.

Bowtie70SS
I'v broken one or three of those. They are kind of flimsy...I think Magna is asking way too much out of that Ford tensioner. Dave

Krambo
I know it was posted on here before but what is the Dayco part #? I went to the parts store and they didn't have pics to order. I could have guessed but want to be sure.
Bowtie70SS
tensioner part number = 89222 pulley for tensioner # = 89009 Don't forget that the pulley the tensioner comes with is not the right one, you have to buy the pulley too!! Black2003SS
what about taking a couple of small strips of strong steel or aluminum and drilling a couple of small hoels, and mount them as a support type bracket? A few dollars to prevent some headaches?
jboyss
thanks for the help with the part numbers. I went out and bought two of them this time. I dont ever want to be towed for something so stupid again.
zippy
I had to replace one of them once. I bought it for a 90 or so 454 truck which comes about perfect except the allen bolt on the back. With a drill and tap it was set and came with the correct pulley. Krambo
I went out and bought a spare. It was only $64 and it is a little different than the one I hav on there. The one I have on there now has a ribbed pulley whereas the new Dayco unit I bought has a smooth pulley. Joe, is the one you broke ribbed or smooth? The belt may have trouble hanging on to a smooth pulley during a quick blip letting the tensioner slam back causing the snap. Joe, If you have the broken one still, can I have it? jboyss
Kevin, When you buy the new tensioner you need to buy a new pulley as well. The one that comes on it doesnt work for us. There is a part number in this thread for it. I bought two of them when i went so i could have a spare as well. And yea i believe i still have the broken one if you want it. But why?
