chevy38fan
hmm seems kind of strange all the way to 0-70 the hemi is exactly .2 seconds off... someone fell asleep at the light? then 0-80 the hemi .1 faster? interesting... 15.11 1/4 time? newbish... 15.189 with only one run at the track here (2 runs one night first run I just spun.. basically 16.8 e/t). I could get easily into the 14's without mods to my truck given a few more runs.. oh and I see a lot of stock SS's running in the 15.3's and higher.. how'd they manage a 14.99? (this based on info i've read on the internet from self proclaimed SS owners..) some hemi's are faster, most are slower (eg there's about 1 SCSB hemi to every 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 QCSB hemi.) and some SS's are slower than other SS's. I guess it depends on what day of the week your truck was built on depending on how fast it is.. oh and I think most hemi's were made on mondays... (both qc and sc) since they both roll off the same exact line as every other ram...

chevy38fan
if they have 40grand to spend on a 345 hp truck, let them. its much more luxuorious than the hemi laramie. worth 40 grand? no. but 33-35, yes. its all in what you like, or what kind of deals you are looking for. redsilveradoSS
You (chevy38fan) just made our own point. The point a lot of us have been hammering home for some time now. The point being.... ask anyone here what their end figure was (truck, tax, tag, title) and you will see we did buy $33,000.00 or even less trucks. So you see we all got our moneys worth. Like Ben said i am sure most of us could have gotten something even more expensive if we chose to. If you want to get down to it i can even show you the title to my 2003 SS truck right now. It was paid for by me the day i picked it up. If you take what was given to me for the trade of my Durango i only paid $23,500.00 for it. Now look i am in the basic run of the mill Hemi Ram price and i have a loaded Silverado SS.

Troyz34
These are all STOCK figures........Lets take a count into how many ss owners drive stock trucks. Now if you pull up to a light and want to race any other truck and you assume he/she is stock you could get burned. They're many MODDED Vehicles out there, the stock figures mean nothing anymore to most people.

Just went to Dodge.com and loaded up a 1500 4 wheel drive (sub for awd) with every option as close to ss as possible including hemi. PRICE: $39,225.00 msrp WHAT A SURPRISE. Did not know you could get such an expensive dodge The above qoute came from a magazine (forget which one) that tested the ss vs. lighting vs. hemi. The hemi was the most stripped of the bunch. Ok here we go, I'm not out to start a whole argument on the subject, tho I know there will be many responses to what I post. I'm just posting my opinion. I even like the way it looks, just have a few problems with the cost to performance ratio. Yes SS owners chose to buy an SS, they could have bought something else, more expensive, blah blah. Ok. I like those #'s, because stock to stock. The Hemi Ram has the best bang for buck. BASE (starting) price on the SS, $39,995.....BASE (starting) price for Hemi Ram, 22,040. Performane wise, We're talking about an $18,000 dollars for .2 seconds quicker times in 0-60 and the quarter. Granted in "base" form the SS comes with nice luxuries. The SS Silverado is titled an "Performance truck" it was specifically made, for performance, for the performance truck enthusiasts. The Hemi Ram is just a regular truck with an engine called a Hemi. Vortech Silverado, Magnum Dakota, PowerStroke F150...they're all just names. Now you want Perfromance truck vs Performance truck. Run the SS against an SVT Lightning or a SRT-10 Ram. Stock for stock, SS vs SRT-10 Ram Again, base for the SS, $39,995, Base for the SRT-10 Ram is $42,000-$45,000, it all depends on the dealer you get them from, many people have been getting them for $42,000. SRT-10 Ram = 13.1 SS = 15.1 That's sounds alot better to me, 2 grand more gets you 2 seconds off the quarter mile. And 2 seconds is damn hard to shave off, as anyone who drag races can tell you. Again, base vs base, stock vs stock, performance wise, A Dodge Ram with a Hemi is the best bang for the buck compared to an SS Silverado. Even if you through in all the luxuries the SS has, the Ram will cost you $28,000. Don't forget there will soon be a -Hemi Dakota R/T -Dakota SRT-8 -SRT-8 Ram And becareful when pulling up next to a Hemi Magnum R/T out this year. SRT-8 Magnums will be out next year. (I include the Magnum because it is classified as a truck) Not to mention the 6.1 V8 Hemi coming soon, and the Hemi V10. I'm a car/truck enthusiast, but as you can tell, I love DCX/MOPAR.
